  • @elmuraddi lets get real here and not so much sentimental! fact is that none of us youtubers knew Bobby Fischer personally. most of us anyway. so to trying to portray his life based on wishful thinking is not only sillly, it is ludicrous! even Jesus didnt have "thousands" of friends! from what we're told Bobby didnt live a very pleasant life, especially his last years! he became a recluse and ranted maniacal remarks on live radios and talked about killing hundreds of thousands of people. please!

  • Is it really worth it"?

  • I think everybody has something they could be good at, however for some reason, they don't put up the fight and end up doing something else and thinking for the rest of their lives: What if? that is the main source of unhappiness in the life.

Well hear, Robert Fischer knew he could be the best of the world, he put up the fight, and he made it. Of course he has a curse on him, every loser will point at him and ask "Is it worth it?" to justify their own mediocrity and insignificance.

  • for me him having bad attitude at chess is not worth for what he achieved maybe a lil less...

  • schach-brett.de

  • i love how they persecuted this guy for being antisemitic

  • Follow your Deams!

  • At least Fischer didn't sell out, fighting against the Jews up until his last breath. He had the handicap of actually being born a Jew. To then throw the yoke of criminality off is a true sign of his genius and champion nature.

  • @happydelicious He didn't seem to have a problem taking money from the Jewish-owned and run publishers who distributed his books.

  • People who have walked on the moon faced the same problem. I think there were clearly more things for Fischer to do. Chess theory continually advances, and it would have been great for him to have been a part of it. His games are always amazing to play over. I don't care that they're too advanced for me to get much good from them in terms of improving my own play, they are real works of art over the board.

  • Q.) Is it worth it?

A.) Is assistant manager at Best Buy a good alternative?

  • From how I see it, Fischer had three choices.

    1.Become a chess pro.

    2.Work as a flower arranger.

3.Spend his life in an asylum.

I think he made a good choice myself.

  • @elmuraddi assuming you know his story the answer is clearly NO! he was good at chess and aboslutely nothing else! no friends, no relationships and eventually lost his mind. Would you want that only to be good at a "game"?!!

  • He mastered the game. And there is something mystical about chess. Somethings even the smartest computers cant and never will crack. He found the beauty in it.

  • @willsmackyoudown no doubt about it but Bobby Fischer is one in a million and i would not want to have his life for his chess prowess. He was a genious and had a very unhappy life. thats about it.

life is far more mystical than chess and having a shitty life is far more tragic than being a shitty chess player

  • @hekoka

That depends on what you value in life. It all comes down to what you love. He loved chess and he devoted his life to what he loved. He had an unhappy ending but he did something with his life even if it was a lonely one.

  • @hekoka how do you know that he had no friends or relationships? lol, are you his mother?... and, he got to do what he likes, he had the passion for it, unlike some amateurs who only think of chess as a "game"....

  • @Gold139 chess is a game for amateurs and professionals alike! if its not a game then what is it. I am not his mother, no! are you? dont think so! how could you know better than me if we're being fed the same information through books and documentaries! dont philosophise too much, just play chess and enjoy the the game. it boggles my mind how 20 year olds are willing to spend 6 hours a day paying chess and not get a penny for it. life has so much to offer, go out there and socalise

  • @hekoka if you think chess is just a game, then it doesn't mean everybody thinks so. You play for fun, people play for money or passion LOL, dont assume too much. And yes, you're assuming that I know much about fischer also. i never said that, but you DID assume that he got no social life lol... so where did you read that info lmao? You know why your mind was boggled? because you're an amateur, not professional rofl... For them, chess is their lives, dont apply your mindset on people lol

  • @Gold139 dude whatever you think of chess it still remains a game. people play poker, backgammon and get millions out of it but does that change the nature of the thing in itself. whether it is your passion or job it is still a game just like a dog remains a dog regardless of whether you call it James and dress it up! i play for the love of it and probably so do you even if you like to claim yourself a pro! theres so much more to life than chess, even fischer would tell you so :D "LMAO"

  • Would I devote my entire life to playing a game, or competing for an Olympic medal, or anything else? No, it would not be worth it to me. My interests are too divers, and there are many general life considerations which I would want to also spend time involved in. Would it be worth it to someone else? It would be, depending upon the individual. No right or wrong answer; only a personal preference.

  • Chess players are humans who are constantly reminded of the limits and grand inferiority of the human mind. They don't go crazy but they may seem crazy to your average Joe who has no interests in life other than sex and baseball.

  • I've been playing chess for over 10 years and I aren't crazy.

    Stickle Bricks.

  • Chess players don't go crazy, that's just a myth really.

  • @AlltimeTrance Actually, a bunch of them have. Steinitz, Morphy, some argue Fischer did, and there are others.

  • @00bikeboy

Ah right you are, I didn't realise Morphy had mental problems, I love his games, it's like effortless genius when played out on the board.

I like to look at Tal and Capablanca as well.

    Ain't chess brilliant?

  • @AlltimeTrance I owe a lot to chess. A wonderful, beautiful game.

  • Guys chess really makes you gain high marks in school and makes you study really hard and understand the teacher explanation. Chess is so fucking wonderful!

  • @RandyIsC0o00o0L Clue; you could accomplish all of that in school even if you never heard of chess. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. If you enjoy chess, play it. If you enjoy something else, do that. It's all simply a matter of personal preference.

  • @JeffersonDinedAlone Yup dude, thanks for the clue, yes you can do that without chess, but what I mean is that chess makes you think throughout many things really deep.

  • That computer kicked the SHIT out of him!!

  • how is improving one's mental abilities not worthwhile? in any way, shape, or form it will be beneficial and can provide a sort of confidence in a person, and despite often dominating people's lives, it still creates improvements from the past to nurture the future. In a world where every second counts, nothing is more honorable than contributing to other causes outside of oneself, which can be derived from self-confidence and improvement or by just flat out improving the world on one's own.

  • Bobby was the best !

  • So this is what happens when someone plays too much Chess. Go figure Chess players go crazy.

  • If that was was the case then all GM's would go crazy you idiot, but wait oh no they don't. Go play checkers xD

  • @andy59tube lol.. are you really making an analogy between intelligence and whether there should be a 0 before the decimal

  • @andy59tube I believe he made 3 million from the world championship.

  • @GFXReal Something like that. And just recently his 'wife' took his estate and everything he left behind. Apparently his family members argued in court that his marriage was a sham and that Bobby was mentally sick.

In laymen's terms, Bobby fischer's wife was a gold digger, or accused as one. We will never know, though.

  • why wouldn't it be worth it? of course it would be, if that's what you want to do and what you want to be good at, go for it.

  • I'm William Bybel. For the record, I am NOT a child molester. All of the children I had sex with gave me their full consent beforehand.

  • 1) Hold your breath.

    2) Copy all of these steps.

    3) Go to two other video.

    4) Paste it in the comments.

If you can do all of this without breathing you're a good pot smoke

  • Fischer's entire life was consumed by chess. Once he achieved the world title, he had no purpose and became a tragic figure.

  • That's the truth.... anything U wanna do is a sacifice.... but U can do whatever it is & that's gospel truth!!!

  • ccThe guy spamming this group is a convicted child rapist who lives at 1325 Pennsylvania Ave in Bethlehem, PA. He is currently under house arrest as part of his sentence, and can't find anything better to do than to spam various message boards and discussion groups.

The Justice system has failed in allowing this scumbag to communicate with the outside world. You have his address, so feel free to correct the mistakes of the justice system. Bybel is obese and weak.

That's too bad William Bybel. That was your main account on YouTube. You had a long list of favourites, subscriptions, comments, and other personalization that took you years to develop. All gone!

  • ahhh you possess great wisdom young grasshopper

  • my IQ is 90 ...NOW WHAT..mutha fuckas

  • Bobby Fischer will be forever remembered it was worth it.

  • love the man's chess but with an IQ of 187 why did he have such a problem with life!!??!!

    list of IQ:

Abraham Lincoln President USA 128 -- Adolf Hitler Nazi leader Germany 141-- Al Gore Politician USA 134 -- Albert Einstein Physicist USA 160

  • @piperesify

He didn't have a problem with life. He made millions being the best in the world at what he did. He was otherwise a private person. His politics? I generally associate with people who have IQs rivaling my own (top 0.003% of humanity) and most of us are neofascists. Just realize that we don't even notice the current world exists - our minds are always living several centuries in the future. You can't expect us to be "popular dudes" into "Obama vs Bush" and other plebeian debates.

  • @piperesify

In other words, I'm sure his definition of being "good at life" was dramatically different from that of the barely-animate, slobbering baboon masses who dream of sex and hamburgers while we dream of things unfathomable to modern language.

Lesser personalities came out of the woodwork when he was old and traumatized and vulnerable to "say what they really think" about him but here's the thing; everyone forgot what they said 15 minutes later. Not so with Bobby.

  • Comment removed

  • Of course you have no reason to believe me, but I have a genius IQ and I'm a big fan of Fischer's (both his chess playing and his politics).

Being unable to complete simple tasks isn't "genius", it's mental abnormality where resources have been concentrated in one area and neglected elsewhere, resulting from pathology. Conventional "geniuses" like Bobby neglect every day tasks merely out of boredom or a torturous tendency to psychoanalyze the mundane until they develop phobias toward it.

  • RepentKingdom what you said is pure nonsense. Geniuses don't do basic stuff because they choose to ignore the basic stuff you talk about which I don't know exactly what but because it's irrelevant to them.. You must understand that they choose to ignore basic stuff and idiots come and critisize them to look out for flaws in their thinking but there isn't any flaw in their thinking.

  • @aleinsteinizmi do you honestly believe this? you must not keep geniuses in your company very often.

  • bobby fischer was an amazing chess player

  • @heirlume And, as Bobby Fischer has been quoted, "Chess is mental masturbation".

  • fischer genius

  • "When a genius appears, you may know him by this sign; all the fools rise up against him."

  • These comment boxes are great! they show the wide spectrum from the educated (to most of the above) to the dumbo's example 'kingfedor' above.

R.J.Fischer maybe different (who cares) but he was devoted to his love of chess and what else matters and is wrong with that? Besides, surely chess must be the finest cerebral game. We will remember you Bobby which every great c/masters comes after you ..they are in your wake.

  • i think were both on the same track, ty

  • Remember Einsteins words. GREAT MINDS HAVE ALWAYS ENCOUNTERED OPPOSITION/RESISTANCE FROM MEDIOCRE ONES

  • I believe the quote is 'Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds'

  • Chess keeps unnormal people normal

  • chess is a great tool to work out your brain :)

  • sacrifice.......hmmmm, thats a tall order.

  • YES IT IS!!!

  • El mejor jugador de la historia es capablanca, fue el mas creativo

  • porque nació antes que jugadores como fischer o kasparov,k si no no...

  • I think that putting a number over somebody's mental skills and arguing on who's the best is pointless and rather stupid :/ There are so many ways of being clever and you will find "geniuses" in maths with top IQ but who would be unable to do basic stuff every one else could do :/

  • Absolutely. There are also brilliant people who test poorly in their field but who do excellent work. And then there are people who test excellently and can't actually do the work.

I knew a guy who graduated with a 4.0 in engineering from a top school, but he had so little common sense and creativity that the couldn't do anything.

  • @RepentKingdom wisely spoken

  • @RepentKingdom Sorry mate but that is just nonsense.

  • @RepentKingdom It's not really pointless to try and quantify (and in the process understand) why some people have great talent for things like mathematics or Go.

  • @RepentKingdom not likely

  • @chemao1978 , it is actually true that people who got Phd in some shit doesn't mean they are smart in all ways. There are many types of intelligence in this world. Playing chess requires "Spartial Intelligence". Mathematics require Logic and so on.........

  • @RepentKingdom its like the quote from albert einstein-

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

  • IQ is important. But more important is specifically one's spacial IQ because it correlates to chess so much. Kasparov, probably the greatest chess player ever, has an IQ of 135, which is still not low by any standards, but is low when compared to his spacial IQ of 195! The person with the highest IQ in the world currently has an IQ of 210, so Kasparov's spacial IQ is pretty much as high as you can get.

  • Comment removed

  • Technically Albert Einstein never took an IQ test, so his IQ is simply estimated. Before assuming it's over 200 perhaps you should at least do a google search.

If you search google for "famous people iq" you'll see that all the websites estimate 160 for Einstein. I checked the first 10 results and every single relevant one had 160 for Einstein. I do my research before posting.

  • First few links also estimate 180 and 200 so I was correct your estimate is far to low I made a 160 on my IQ test and Albert Einstein is far superior to me so I estimate him at 230

  • An IQ of 160 would place him in the 99.99th percentile. It's considered genius level. It is definitely not a low IQ. Only 0.01% of people have an IQ over 160.

There are no websites estimating his IQ at 200. There are dozens of websites estimating it at 160. Your "estimate" of his IQ at 230 is pointless. The highest IQ ever recorded was Marilyn vos Savant with and IQ of 228.

Congratulations on your IQ of 160. Use it.

  • I doubt that's accurate and I don't know why you would even compare them they're completely unrelated.

  • i totally agree...i mean seriously how much mind fuck by family and frens u have to go through just be a chessmaster....

    man, respect this dude.

  • Where in Pasadena did Bobby live ? What street what house. Any pictures ?

  • he asked where DID he live not WHERE he lives. so its a valid question

  • lol...he may want to build a memorial for Fischer there

  • Where in Pasadena did Bobby live ? What street what house. Any pictures ?

  • Why? Are you going to go there and jack off?

  • ROFL.

  • Funniest shit I've read all week.

  • Lol I have to say you walked right into those comments! I don't think he so much had a house as lived on 'da street as they say. He looked scruffy enough to be mistaken for a bank robber - hence the Chess cult classic 'I was tortured in a Pasadena jail cell'

  • bobby the champion of Chess in all Ages....

gave the inspiration of the anima of "GO" and "Yu-Gi-Oh"

I wonder what he done after he was champion

  • "I wonder what he done after he was champion"

Probably experienced life as "we" know it. Kissed a girl, saw the sunset, traveled the world, any anything else not related to chess.

  • Are you sure? I thought he suffered first before he did all those things.

  • Actually, he didn't. His entire life was chess. He called Spassky a fool for getting married because it took too much time away from chess. He was not, mentally, 100%.

  • I'm with Fupper on this one. People like Bobby have very unique brains and it's very, very difficult to make friends and connect with people. From what I understand he had a child by a Japanese female chess player, but generally I'll bet he didn't do much else but work on his chess books. His father wrote critiques of the entire encyclopedia. Unfortunately, that amount of intelligence is as much a curse as a gift. No one could ever understand him and he had no hope of understanding anyone else.

  • Thank you EGarret01:) I'm not dissing Bobby. I'm just stating facts. His entire life was chess. Is that bad? Many people have spent their lives worse ways.

  • Yes!

  • yes

  • great video
