I tottaly agree,shenmue when it first came out blew me away,the fact u could pop into the arcade and play outrun,space harrier and afterburner 2 was amazing.The 2nd game while not as good as the 1st was still a class game but the ending was a huge letdown,I was expecting 2 have it out with lan di.

This game is being developed by Sumo Digital. The people behind Outrun, an excellent arcade racer. This game will use the Outrun engine, so that alone shows this game could be a great racing title as well. Past racers like Sonic Drift weren't exactly looked into too well, especially considering it was on an old handheld. This game is looking to be opposite of that, especially with the developers listening close to SEGA fans. I really think this game is getting a lot more hatred than it deserves.

I know, but believe in or not but I am a huge sonic fan, its just I hate the fact that he isn't treated with the respect he deserves as an icon in video games. I mean maybe this could be good. In fact thats what I thought about sonic unleashed, but it wasn't, the werewolf idea was kinda stupid, sonic games are meant to be fast paced, but the second you turn into that werewolf it becomes a slow boring beat em up. I don't get it. Diddy Kong Racing, Crash Team Racing, and countless other kart racers followed the Mario Kart formula, and everyone loved those games. Yet for some reason, THIS game has to be accused as the only Mario Kart ripoff. OK, so it's obvious that's what SEGA's going for, but don't people usually love kart racers? if this game DIDN'T have Sonic, and it was called "Shenmue Racing" and starred only Shenmue characters, I wouldn't be surprised to see people calling it the greatest game ever.

@SetnaroX Mostly because of the gameplay too :S. I loved mario kart and played all of the games and when i saw this I was dissapointed... 3 reasons:

1.- Sonic characters can run faster than the cars their going. So they do not need them.

2.- 90% of the items are rip offs of the mario kart series (green and red gloves= green and red shells_

3.- Special items are wayyy to good. I was at almost land and used sonics special item and got at first place

But this is only and JUST ONLY my opinion.

I think there were three failed sonic games which were racers: Sonic Drift (rip off of any other 2d racer), Sonic Riders (which was ok if you were forced to play it) and worst of all Sonic R on the PC (which melts your brains with crappy songs and awful controls that almost make your fingers bleed)
