i heard about conway twitty from family guy and i thought they were making fun of him but this song is poignant. the quintessential break up song.

You have to realize this...people in the Northeast and Far west in LA LA land think of rest of us (esp those of us from/in the south) as a bunch of hicks. As much as I love Seth McFarlane, I get irritated when he portrays old stereotypes of the south (to his credit he doesn't spare others too). Conway was a great country artist. I'm glad younger folks are getting introduced to him and his music, albeit in a somewhat convoluted manner. Enjoy his music, folks!

I met Conway Twitty in October, 1969. He was in town and my dad was one of the promoters that booked him. Dad was introducing him to several of my friends and family. When he came to me, he skipped over me and went to the next person. I was hurt that Dad skipped over me because I was such a fan. Finally, everyone had been introduced to him and Dad said to Conway, "And this is my daughter, Pat". Conway took ahold of my hand and said, "Hello darlin". I stood there speechless and like a fool.
