Hey, bum notes aside I liked your interpretation out of everything I found on youtube! I like the pulling, dragging feel to it. The more the better! When I hear this, I think of someone being carted off to a gulag. I want more hesitation, more folk-y sounding. I don't like this nocturne sounding very refined. I want more rubato, to the point where it's almost too much. Your piano makes it sound folkish. In fact, I had a dream last night. This piece was in it, but orchestrated grandly.
It was well played , what happened to the ritornello into the triplets part? Nocturnes are difficult to play....people assume that it's easy because they may be technically easier than others. I suggest listening to Koczalski or Pollini although nobody knew what he meant by these pieces (a form invented purely to mimic 'bel canto'? eventhough melismata is impossible on the piano). Also do not over-sentimentalise the nocturnes so much and approach the rubato more towards a Baroque (Tosi) ideal.
hehe, ur pedaling is disturbing i think and the chords are too loud. but overall it's good. i'm goin to play this at a competition 2 if i'm goin in the final.
Beautiful. I heard this song in the movie, the Peacemaker years ago and did not know what it was. This is simply awesome. Thank you for sharing, you play beautifully.
You spend a while with it and you start to lose your mind... I'm doing a major key next time... think B-flat. It is quite fun to play, though. But the birds are cheeping A-flats now...
@angelcutie54 "try being more musical" isn't very constructive criticism as it's not descriptive in the least. You should criticize more like boringname05... See? I even criticize critics constructively ;)
Excellent interpretation. I feel that if I criticize you, it will draw attention away from the dynamics and emotion that make this piece so beautiful. I wish I could play this as well as you.
Many years ago I made a 78 of this piece and I did vary the speed throughout and it sounded a bit less than a dirge or a lament.Try to keep a flow, think of a stream running down a gentle slope with brightness and slower as the water gets deeper and darker and show your side image not just your hands. Jannarta.
You might want to try taking the Andante section a little slower, and make sure when you are using rubato that it doesn't feel like you are loosing the beat. Maybe play through with a metronome a few times?
(and the bit where it starts going triplets an really a fast, few of the notes in the chords were wrong, so it was in the wrong key)
But i really like the interpretation, its how I would have played it. :D Keep going! Well done (:
u need to make sure that u dont play the semi-quavers as triplets. the semi-quaver rhythm is fundamental to the melody and without it the haunting beauty of the actual triplet phrase is lost. I only say this because I was making this same mistake when I first started learning the piece. good luck
You played quite alot of mistakes in the second part. Mostly is no flat or sharp or mistakes. And I don't correct dynamics. didnt slow down enough. I'm playing this song for Grade 8 this year.
Je ne le dis pas souvent...mais honnètement..j'aime bien!
Il manque des choses, mais nous avons l'essentiel...(dommage pour les quelques fausse notes dans la deuxième parties,ça nous fait de beaux accords majeurs à la place :D)
I think it's great! It would be lovely to hear it in person to catch all of the emotion that just simply can't be captured on film. People shouldn't put you down unless they've posted their own stuff and put themselves out there for the world to see, right?
Keep on playing, I'm going to check out your Schubert Impromptu next!
it's a very interesting interpretation - i like the sudden "piano" dynamic when it goes into A flat - very effective. however, at the loud "...mosso" passage, try to leave that last Fminor chord on a little longer 'cos it's part of the last phrase, not the start of the next one. also, on those loud chords, how about a crescendo on each one? you also made a few slips between minor and major in those chords - check those! also check notes and detail on that last page. overall, good work!
shame about the poor quality instrument - it sounds horrible! performance not bad, an interesting interpretation shall we say, especially in the use of tempos...I'm not convinced the person we can see is the person we can hear....it looks like you've found a recording and added your own film...hmm?
u have all the notes down but abosolutely no sense of emotion, when to slow down and when to go faster, when to play softly and when to rise to the climax
Too fast ;). But OK ! ;)

There's too much movement to the hands, I feel they're flying! Keep steady the hands..Nevertheless, the sound came out very well..

it's obviously not a recording. You can see the notes being pressed down. Even if there were a recording, you'd be hearing double.
