@amirjanpashtoon If you are 25 years old, you should meditate for 25 minutes every day. If your 40, you should meditate for 40 minutes and so on. Say your just 20, but you meditate for an hour every day, this will cause an energy overload and can lead to headaches and other things. So whatever your age, just turn it into minutes and do it every day. Its also best if you do it at the same time every day, cause your mind will remember and adjust easier. Let me know of any more questions.

@heimallm depends on the person it takes me about 20 to 30 mins or longer to get in that state. but it could take you 20 mins or even 40 mins it depends on the person if he's stressed out it will take longer but if he's relaxed it will not take as long and you will get to that state sooner .I know this because i have been doing this for a little over a year now.

I tried meditatiing earlier... I got to the no thought state. But then since earlier this morning I was watching a cartoon with my little cousin, that cartoon kept coming into my head and ruining it, then i could make it go away for a second, then it would come back...:( lol! Holding your breath momentarily is necessary for certain yoga breathing combined exersices which is all cool but this video is demonstrating vipassana meditation, the main most important basic meditation taught in all the different denominations of buddhism. I practiced before for a few years and gettting back into it cause now i'm 50 and really don't have anything to lose and don't care what people think of me. So will this help eliminate phobias? And also last year I first tried meditation but it was a little different. What you had to do was sit or lay down somewhere, be still and listen to everything around you, including your own breath but I stopped doing this when I realized I was becoming more conscious of things (like self conscious) so how do I make sure when I'm meditating that I'm getting relaxation rather than being more conscious? @HDL2112 No you don't stop breathing. You mind will aware of your thoughts and body sensory less and less as you enter deeper trance. You body does breath but it's just your 'very still' mind that can't notice anything but silence

@HapyMunky You need a very quite mind to enter deeper state or samadhi, therefore, i suggest you to do the meditation in a quite place, you'll get used to it in no time.
This is a very nice intro to meditation - particularly the simplicity of focus on breath. We CAN do more technically involved mental activity when meditating, but without the focus developed through the simple following of breath or word or image, more complex activities are not much more valuable than day dreaming.
@hydrephonics You don't really go without breathing as far as I know, it's something like complete relaxation of the body to such a degree that you don't notice your breathing, and if for some reason you actually aren't breathing, then there's no problem, your body will not allow it's self to suffocate, thus there should be no concern.
@Vuecon You dont literaly stop thinking, you focus on your breath untill your attention taken away from distractions. Then you no longer need to focus on your breath as you are focusing on your "self" or whatever word you would like to use.
However i belive the basic trance is a little more subtle, your brain feels a little heavy, your body temerature drops. You are aware of your thoughts and the outside world but you dont indulge in it because you are relaxed and content.
@neeraj111666666 you can't stop your mind, however, you can reduce the 'thickness' of your thought. Don't be distracted when your mind thinks, let it thinks and let it go like the wind. Your duty is only to focus on your breath. whenever you're distracted by pain, thoughts or whatever, bring focus to your breath, u won't be able to stop your mind but u can ignore it and focus on your breathing. Finally, u go into the 1st level of samadhi, the deeper level.
@9Twilight9 because u block out the toughts, u also block out the feeling of tgings, its like ur not in ur body and dont need to breate, but the body does bread actually without u feeling it, just keep going when u get there next time, and energy would flow filling u up with pure energy

well I tried n it was good one my first time was in the summer time and while my eye was close I seen a beautifull butterfly of all colors flying towards me and when i open there was a butterfly on my knee flapping his are her wings and when i tryed to blow it away it didnt and i put my hand out n it flu to my hand like it ws communicating with me r something it was beautiful my firend seen it n a butterfly cum to here too so what do that mean...??? please tell me

I tried meditatiing earlier... I got to the no thought state. But then since earlier this morning I was watching a cartoon with my little cousin, that cartoon kept coming into my head and ruining it, then i could make it go away for a second, then it would come back...:( lol! Any tips on how to keep my mind off that subject? I did soo well my first try, and then that dumb cartoon kept ruining it!!XD

Holding your breath momentarily is necessary for certain yoga breathing combined exersices which is all cool but this video is demonstrating vipassana meditation, the main most important basic meditation taught in all the different denominations of buddhism. I practiced before for a few years and gettting back into it cause now i'm 50 and really don't have anything to lose and don't care what people think of me. It gives you lots more energy, peace and tons of patience, #1

So will this help eliminate phobias? And also last year I first tried meditation but it was a little different. What you had to do was sit or lay down somewhere, be still and listen to everything around you, including your own breath but I stopped doing this when I realized I was becoming more conscious of things (like self conscious) so how do I make sure when I'm meditating that I'm getting relaxation rather than being more conscious? Someone please answer.

because human's thinking all the time which only a little bit of thought makes your brain works with logics and reasons. To get inside to your soul or state of empty mind, u need to shut down all your brain and to feel the energy(spirit) which is emptiness of your mind as before u were born u had only energy without physical body or brain. This is a very nice intro to meditation - particularly the simplicity of focus on breath. We CAN do more technically involved mental activity when meditating, but without the focus developed through the simple following of breath or word or image, more complex activities are not much more valuable than day dreaming.

@hydrephonics You don't really go without breathing as far as I know, it's something like complete relaxation of the body to such a degree that you don't notice your breathing, and if for some reason you actually aren't breathing, then there's no problem, your body will not allow it's self to suffocate, thus there should be no concern.

@Vuecon You dont literaly stop thinking, you focus on your breath untill your attention taken away from distractions. Then you no longer need to focus on your breath as you are focusing on your "self" or whatever word you would like to use.
However i belive the basic trance is a little more subtle, your brain feels a little heavy, your body temerature drops. You are aware of your thoughts and the outside world but you dont indulge in it because you are relaxed and content.

@neeraj111666666 you can't stop your mind, however, you can reduce the 'thickness' of your thought. Don't be distracted when your mind thinks, let it thinks and let it go like the wind. Your duty is only to focus on your breath. whenever you're distracted by pain, thoughts or whatever, bring focus to your breath, u won't be able to stop your mind but u can ignore it and focus on your breathing. Finally, u go into the 1st level of samadhi, the deeper level.

@9Twilight9 because u block out the toughts, u also block out the feeling of tgings, its like ur not in ur body and dont need to breate, but the body does bread actually without u feeling it, just keep going when u get there next time, and energy would flow filling u up with pure energy
