always LOVED Steppenwolf........first album I ever bought (not counting $0.25 garage sale records) was 16 Greatest hits ....YEA.., big X, wore it out! Saw 'em..'75? Frampton backed them up, just before that album came out. .....................my style is influenced big X by 'Wolfie........please see me, search ....."IBEW drummer"..."IBEW drummer-UNSAID"..."early morning inspired"...& drum solos......PEACE
One of the best yet underexposed bands of their era. Their following was smaller but very intense. John Kay wrote some fantastic lyrics through the years, lots of it timely and related to strong social concerns.
It is very apparent to me that the entire camera crew was wasted and the producer and the rest of the lot. Sound didn't even match up in sync which was all too common those days. Too bad, classic footage could have been so much better by the show staff.
This is awesome. No one slinks quite like John Kay. Its like a slowed down version of Mick J. I guess this was right after guitarist Larry Byrom left the band as Bobby Cochrane is handling the guitar. Both of those guys were just great players. And about Goldy McJohn- how good is this guy. Listen to the synth he is playing. Has to be one of the first commercially available. This is really a trip back in the time machine. Thanks for the post.
Interesting! The talk box effect is gone, replaced by keyboard sounds. Seems like The Wolf were trying to be more contemporary. Never knew Goldie used a clavinet till I saw this.

The film quality is not the greatest, however, the sound is what matters here!
Also, there's no need to accentuate those outfits! ☺
