Thats a misconception, Jordan was an exceptional mid-range shooter and an excellent 1 dribble stop and pop shooter even in his early 90s, the reason you think he did it later in his career is because he relied extensively on his jumper as he grew older, but he mastered it in his early 90s he just didn't have to rely on it as much as he could've slashed to the basket, but Jordan had already developed and mastered this in the early 90s
