I'M SO CONFUSED ABOUT PTS. I find myself getting the required foods out of the way, then later at dinner I could have a cheese enchilada, but I already had my 2 dairies. I can't seem to get it altogether.

Weight isn't the only thing. Muscle is denser than fat and so if you use both exercise and diet to reshape (as you must, or you lose muscle) you could actually gain weight whilst getting slimmer. I used to cycle 10k miles/year and put weight on when I retired (no commuting) and rode a lot less. I lost 35lbs last year by eating less and cycling more. I'm 68 and regaining some fitness.

You have done something that most people do not do and that is to stick with the Weight Watcher program and make it your own. You can be very proud of your accomplishments and also the encouragement and inspiration you are to others!
Hello, I have done Weight Watchers and it really works BUT if you do not stay with it, you gain it all back and more. IF a person can stay with the program and make it a way of life, it will work. It is not hard. It just teaches a person the right way to eat for their proper height and weight. Drinking the correct amount of water seems to help alot!
I like the fact that she posted this video, because, I was actually one the people who emailed her. I just wished she would have said what she did to exercise, like walking or jogging. But regardless she's really cool for trying to help us out

Once when she complained about her weight I said: "go ahead and eat. There will be more of you to love". She ran after me all evening and I couldn't get rid of her. Take my advice. Don't say that to a girl unless you really like her :)

as it was not easy for me to do that living alone a though started calling the pizza service,but the menue i ordered,and it wasnt much,lasted for several days.but i drank much.
i lost a lot of weight and then with the help of my mother i tried to start eating normally.
that was about 2-3 months ago and now i eat regulary good food(not junk) and not too much and i started having an affinition to juices,especially apple juice.
I have a bit overweight but nothing dramatic. As long as you don't let it get too far and keep strong muscles you can do something about it. Go for long walks and even run. Of course a proper diet is important but if you stay in shape the body will burn lots of calories even in your sleep. The best way to exercise is to do it in everyday life. Use stairs instead of elevators. Go for a walk instead of catching the bus. Man is built for walking long distances. That's what our ancestors did.

Portion control is basic necessity for loosing weight - several small and smart meals a day is the best diet. That way you can slowly wean yourself off of most of unhealthy foods. About workout... doing at least 30 mins of weights (free or machine) HELPS.... You build muscle and the body ends up burning calories AT REST. ..
I also found you while searching for WW type inspiration. I've been doing WW since May and have shed over 55lbs. What you say is true. It's really that simple AND that difficult. WW is the only program I've ever found that I can truly LIVE with. No deprivation, the support we need and the tools to help us be who we want to be (not just in our eating either.) Great video.

Its been a week since I've been able to get on, so I apologize for my late response, but I took did weight watchers. I DID loose weight, but it cost money that I didn't have. I found something that worked for me (unfortunatley I didn't stick to it and am now BACk to doing it). Getting your daily fiber (1 cup of fiber one) and drinking green tea (diet) works wonders!

i don't like your politics as far as i remember, i wanted to argue with you and didn't, but i really thing that your basic overview on weight loss and overall discussion of how we interact with food is well thought out. and of course results speak for themselves. you did it, and you did it the right way. congrats. Question: My friend currently works in an office in which every other person looks just like you did back when you took that picture you showed us (I have visited them and OMG). While eating lunch with his coworkers he realized everyone was eating McDonald's type food. How would he first, tell them that what they are eating is not healthy and second, that they should do something about their weight?
I totally understand you! I've been doing WW now for 6-7 weeks now. I've lost 12 lbs as of 2 weeks ago. Couldn't attend meeting last week, so I didn't get my scale loss. I'll also say, WW DOES work!! I've lost 35 lbs 9 yrs ago, and it stayed off for many yrs. I only gained it back because I had to have a hysterectomy and 3 back surgeries. My body went through a stage of shock in such a small time span. The program works if you put in it what it takes.
wow 2 pounds a week? That is some massive results. You're right about calories... if the amount of calories being burned is greater than the amount taken in, then you will lose weight. It really is that simple. Anyways, I'm trying to gain (muscle)weight and it's waaay harder in my opinion. On average the human body can only gain 2 lbs of muscle a month max. I gain like 1/2 lbs a month lol. I need 15 more pounds to reach my goal :'(

I did the South Beach diet this summer. Lost 30 pounds in 3 months. It's not for everyone though. basicaly you cut off most carbs. You also learn what carbs are 'good' to eat as the diet program progresses. It's different from the weight watchers program. Not sure if thats better or worse, just different.

Nope.. I worked hard but it was truly one of my biggest life accomplishments - I'm proud of it.. and honestly, I'd rather a person have surgery than die from obesity.. it's just that surgery doesn't fix what's broken, which is that person's relationship to food
I'm curious to know your opinion about people who get the gastric bypass surgery. Since it's all about what you eat why would someone want to wait a long 10 months(or however long it is) to lose weight when they can just get the surgery (barring any financial problems) in a much shorter period of time AND knowingly eat healthy afterwards to keep the weight down? nobody needs gastric bypass surgery. losetogin and esther will back me up on this. all it takes is a little motivation and a lot of discipline. gatric bypass is extremeley hard on your body as well.
Personally, I think gastric bypass is very much the result of our 'gotta have it RIGHT NOW' mentality/culture... yes, it causes you to lose weight quickly.. but your body can't take that kind of rapid loss & you'll end up with lots of skin, scars, and the need to STILL figure out how to eat healthy
love your vids, congrats on your weight loss. I just have a question: my mom is diabetic for over 20 years, I find her getting bigger as years go by and unable to help her. My question is how can I help her when she refuses to help herself? for example, she would sneak junk food when I outlaw it, or giving excuses for not exercise.
You can't make someone else lose weight - that's a frustrating reality for a lot of people... simple encouragements & purchasing healthy food when the meal is in your hands is about all you can do

I metabolize well, which is apparently a genetic trait that I'm fortunate to have. If you don't have that trait, then please heed Esther's advice and don't peeg out!

unhealthy way:
just play World of Warcraft or another Onlinegame for about one year straight and dont call the pizza service.you have to live alone btw.
after some time you wont feel hungry,but only be able to play,but not to move.
There you better get someone to bring you the food on a regular basis.

I can say that i now live much healthier than before and especially while that experiment and i'm happy with my body.
I'm slim,but not too slim etc. right in between and i also changed my view about the things that are said about bodies.

I lost weight just by eating half of what I used to eat. I still eat all type of food I used to eat. Just by cutting that intake, I lost 10+ lbs.
You may say it is not a lot. True, but I don't have much fat to loss to begin with :)

Question: My friend currently works in an office in which every other person looks just like you did back when you took that picture you showed us (I have visited them and OMG). While eating lunch with his coworkers he realized everyone was eating McDonald's type food. How would he first, tell them that what they are eating is not healthy and second, that they should do something about their weight?

I totally understand you! I've been doing WW now for 6-7 weeks now. I've lost 12 lbs as of 2 weeks ago. Couldn't attend meeting last week, so I didn't get my scale loss. I'll also say, WW DOES work!! I've lost 35 lbs 9 yrs ago, and it stayed off for many yrs. I only gained it back because I had to have a hysterectomy and 3 back surgeries. My body went through a stage of shock in such a small time span. The program works if you put in it what it takes.

wow 2 pounds a week? That is some massive results. You're right about calories... if the amount of calories being burned is greater than the amount taken in, then you will lose weight. It really is that simple. Anyways, I'm trying to gain (muscle)weight and it's waaay harder in my opinion. On average the human body can only gain 2 lbs of muscle a month max. I gain like 1/2 lbs a month lol. I need 15 more pounds to reach my goal :'(

I did the South Beach diet this summer. Lost 30 pounds in 3 months. It's not for everyone though. basicaly you cut off most carbs. You also learn what carbs are 'good' to eat as the diet program progresses. It's different from the weight watchers program. Not sure if thats better or worse, just different.

Nope.. I worked hard but it was truly one of my biggest life accomplishments - I'm proud of it.. and honestly, I'd rather a person have surgery than die from obesity.. it's just that surgery doesn't fix what's broken, which is that person's relationship to food

I'm curious to know your opinion about people who get the gastric bypass surgery. Since it's all about what you eat why would someone want to wait a long 10 months(or however long it is) to lose weight when they can just get the surgery (barring any financial problems) in a much shorter period of time AND knowingly eat healthy afterwards to keep the weight down? nobody needs gastric bypass surgery. losetogin and esther will back me up on this. all it takes is a little motivation and a lot of discipline. gatric bypass is extremeley hard on your body as well.

Personally, I think gastric bypass is very much the result of our 'gotta have it RIGHT NOW' mentality/culture... yes, it causes you to lose weight quickly.. but your body can't take that kind of rapid loss & you'll end up with lots of skin, scars, and the need to STILL figure out how to eat healthy

love your vids, congrats on your weight loss. I just have a question: my mom is diabetic for over 20 years, I find her getting bigger as years go by and unable to help her. My question is how can I help her when she refuses to help herself? for example, she would sneak junk food when I outlaw it, or giving excuses for not exercise.

I love gorging on everything in sight for that six-week time frame known as "the holidays". However, But then, I'm a peeg. I don't urge people to do as I do. I metabolize well, which is apparently a genetic trait that I'm fortunate to have. If you don't have that trait, then please heed Esther's advice and don't peeg out!
