Lennon & McCartney weren't getting along very well just before and after the group called it quits. They'd make didgs at each other on records and TV interviews. McCartney didn't want it to get to serious, so he wrote this song to try and patch things up. Later, Lennon performed "I Saw Her Standing There" with Elton John at a concert some place in NYC as a dedication to McCartney.
