  • This is my comment, Alright?

  • does this guitar have the slight raise in the middle like the les paul standards?

  • does it come with a hardshell case?

  • @nerfboy98 no

  • Honestly dude. I you can't get a good clean tone out of EMGs, it's because you either drink a lot or your playing style is sloppy.

  • thanks for playing it jack ass

  • TheGr33k13 where is made?china?

  • I'm picking out a guitar and need help

this is my first electric but I've played acoustic for a while

My budget is $500 I think my set up will be Ephiphone Les Paul $300

line 6 spyder 15w $99 case: $71 Wire: $12that makes $490 so the rest I figure for strings, cleaning equipment like string cleaner. Then a little later, some effects. I was looking at strats too but can only get squier strats which are like $250 at most which gives me room for effects and maybe a better amp help plz

  • @timothyga01 hey well heres my number one rule on any instrument. try it before you buy it. personly ive become a huge believer in strats for leads but i prefer the les pauls for rhythm. play both of them in a store and see which feels more "natural to you" effects are kinda important but not necessary at first

  • @timothyga01 go the epi you pay a bit more but wont regret it and go for a peavey viper and dont worry about the effects go an epi sg g400 worn cherry the line 6 sucks

  • When you make a review know what your talking about, and maybe play the guitar for people to hear. And I have the same guitar and the tuners suck they wont stay in tune five minutes (so I'm having new tuners put on). The original pickups are crazy good not bad like you said in the video. It's an amazing guitar for the price. If you hate it so much buy a new guitar of sell that one, Because there are people who would be very happy with that.

  • you sir are an idiot...... it sounds great as it is and 2 weeks? i play for like 3-5 hours a day and reccomend you tune it weekly.

  • @FacebookChicano Alright if your gonna be pissy about this and have your pantys in a bunch ill do another video now that i know what im talking about since i obiously knew nothing when i made the video

  • @TheGr33k13 dun forget the oreos!

  • @TheGr33k13 i'm planning to do the same but whit seymour duncan slash pick ups

  • @ivncdo0809 Go for it if you cant afford a better guitar. this guitar is great and all but i think i would of much rather put that 200 bucks to a brand new guitar instead. It still sounds great dont get me wrong but its more personal preference

  • 5:48 and 6:00 and 6:08 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID

  • 2 weeks without tuning..how much do u play a day.

  • same thing happened to me with a PRS SE soapbar. i chose what looks good but not sounds good. i like rock and of course PRS isnt for rock.

  • @schecterguitarsfan PRS isn't for rock...? WTF!?!

  • Comment removed

  • and when I said cheaper epiphones I meant the $500-1000 ones

  • The EP LP 100 is my 2nd guitar and it's no better than my first guitar a LP special 2.

I do not like the the LP 100 and I wouldn't invest money into it.

I'm getting a epihone 1958 goth expolorer or a Epiphone 1958 korina flying V for my thrid guitar.... Then I'm going to save up and ultimately buy a Gibson for a grand or two.

I'll add pick ups to those guitars because I my opinion those guitars are worth it.

  • @sixstrings209 let me ask u somthing, how long have u been playing?

  • @TheGr33k13

A lil over two years but the lp100 is limited on how it can sound with it's toy like bolt on neck, crappy tuners and weak pickups.

It would be ignorant to suggest a lack of experience here especially when you go to bat for a $299.00 guitar with a bolt on neck and the same stock pick ups as the Les paul special 2 (which is the cheapest LP that one can buy.)

  • @sixstrings209 reason y im askin is because if uve been playing over two years dont waste ure money on epiphones anymore, get like an ibanez or schecter. great guitars i love the necks, also consider the low end model prs's or esp's and i highly suggest the ones with emg 81/60 combbo with ebony neck. its like playing on glass

  • @TheGr33k13

My bad for jumping to conclusions I thought you were going to defend your guitar.

I hear you. Thanks I'll look into those guitars...However I've heard some epiphones scream and they're cheaper.

    What's wrong with epiphone?

  • @sixstrings209 ill defend it after the new pick ups :p, but if you also look into the high end ones then there decent like the prophecy series, but realy look into schecter, they look, sound, and play great for the price. sorry to break ure balls, but gibson, they dont live up to there hype. there overpriced and should be better for the price. and ive heard some whore stories with some of there products. dont wanna discourage u, but consider other alternatives first

  • @TheGr33k13

Listen the LP 100 then listen to EP LP standard then listen to gibson studio( the cheapest LP they oftter for $800-1300) and i think the gibsons sounds better. I go off what my ears hear. But I'm sure Gibsons are overpriced, but they have a distinct sound that I adore.

The lp 100 is a great beginner guitar. I can make this guitar sound good as it can as is,but even with new pick ups the LP100 is no match for a Les paul standard or a Gibson LP studio.

  • @sixstrings209 well obiously qaulity and playibilty wise, thats not even a question but sound get good if not better than gibsons depending on what sound ure shooting for

  • @sixstrings209 I totally disagree. I have an LP-100, in which i added two Alnico 2 Pro pickups, changed the bridge, machine heads, caps, strings.. and sounds amazing.. i recently listened to a Gibson LP Studio...and sounds the same. I thnk this is a good guitar, if u are willin to invest a little in it.. which is what I did and sounds great :X

  • @dudu90tm

Do you have any video? I noticed everyone telling me how good this guitar sounds souped up and how it sounds the same as guitars that cost 3x times as much. But no one is showing me videos of them jamming or a comparison....

I LOVE my LP100. I really do.. It's a great beginner guitar but I don't think I will invest any money into it. I willl just upgrade to a new guitar.

I'm looking at Jacksons and Ibanaz even Fenders I haven't really decided yet. I may upgrade amp 4 now

  • @sixstrings209 I don't have a video with it UPGRADED, but I will post one soon and let you know. I do have with stock hardware but it's crappy :D

  • @dudu90tm

What style of music do you play? Metal and hard rock here for me.

The guy who made this video has a video of him playing his lp100 on clean...

I want to hear what it sound like playing a metal or hard rock solo...

  • @sixstrings209 hard rock... guns n roses, aerosmith..etc

  • @dudu90tm why didn't you use all that to get a better guitar

  • those pups are too much for that guitar, the tone doesn't come only from the pups, the wood adds a great deal to that, also little things like the neck tenon and action

you're wasting those pups on the guitar

  • but u did have time to make a video...???

  • I don't understand how the knobs work

  • Woww...

First guitar with seymor duncan on it ?

  • 1 of the 1001 mistakes a beginner makes: getting a guitar that "looks good"

  • @TheHatChannel This is very true

  • @TheHatChannel i made that very mistake...ibanez rg09, look it up xD its a piec of shit

  • Some idiot sold me an early 90's lp-100 for dirt cheap..with the case at a pawn shop. He thought it was a counterfeit gibson because it has gibson on the truss cover. Anyways I got it to beat the hell out of, but it felt like it was made just for me. I dropped an EMG 81/85 in it. Maybe I lucked out and got a good one, but it genuinely is one of the best guitars I've ever played after some minor work. I never could part with it so I upgraded.

  • @fitenite

anyone can fall in love with this guitar :D

  • The Korean lp-100's from the 90's are pretty bad ass. Anyways...its not expensive, but with Blackouts I bet this baby sizzles. He may not have as much sustain as a gibson, but it is gig worthy nonetheless.

  • @fitenite Deffinitly gig worthy. all it needs is a good setup and the sound is BA. you dont need to spend thousands on guitars to get good guitars. My next project is taking my $600 ibanez V (yes i said ibanez v only 1400 made 700 in black and 700 in white for only one year. managed to get my hands on it last summer very balanced guitar and im happy with the pickups but everssince switching to actives i cant get enough :) ) I wanna throw a EMG 60 in the neck and a 80 in the bridge.

  • do you have to change the battery clip in it?

  • @LuCkYsNiPeR27 Nope

  • Well sir I don't mean to argue, but I practice for atleast 3 hours a day. Also, guitar playing is a matter if personal preference and if the strings sound good then why should I waste money for new ones?

  • @TimsTubeCorner Alright that cool suit yourself. but the average life of strings are 2-3 months with the exception that u dont break any. and im positive those strings werent good. IDK maybe u got lucky and got decent strings.

  • If it was your first guitar, then why did how did u know that the pickups were crap? Also, I've been playing the same strings that were originally on it for almost 7 months.

  • @TimsTubeCorner haha well ive listined to alot of guitar demos before i bought it and just the distortion sounded like crap. and if u havnt changed strings for 7 months its one of two things one you dont play it often or two u dont know wen to change strings

  • @TheGr33k13. I haven't changed my strings in a year.

  • Picking mine up at GC for 200 on friday, can't wait!

  • hey are your strings far away from the fret board

  • @021Guitarmaster Are u refering to string Height?

  • @021Guitarmaster yes they are

  • Well... Expensive pickups in cheap guitar... might not be cost effective...

  • @EldubeG25 lol i know. i was stupid but those stock pickups sucked so they had to go

  • @TheGr33k13 Lol, but hey, you talked about an Ibanez RG. I've a RG350 and the stock pickups are great. May sound crazy, but you should buy one and put those SD in the RG.

  • im thinking about putting a pair of seymour duncan JB SH-4 and TB-4 on my epiphone les paul standard plus top....do you guys think its a good idea? i play classic, soft and hard rock...

  • @igouroum well im not familier with the pickups themselves. tell u wat i take my final 2 examms tomorow then im outa school for tthe summer, ill do some research and get back to u

  • @igouroum You'll love the duncans in your LP, dude. WAYYYYY better than the Epi pickups. You will want the JB (SH-4) for the bridge, and a Jazz (SH-2) or a duncan '59 for the neck.

The TB-4 is another version of hte JB pickup but it is made for the string spacing on guitars with floyd rose bridges (and other trems of course).

  • i just got this guitar everything is good but the strings and the neck of the guitar. the neck has a weird sticky fellnig to it over all its a great guitar.

  • hey dude i have a goth les paul studio and i have been looking to replace it with mick thompson signature blackouts and i wanna kno how u think they sound in a les paul and if there was any installing problems.

  • 1:09 to 1:10 .......Thats What She Said lol

  • @101point5TMG wow i was actualy waiting for someone to say that

  • @TheGr33k13 hahahahah

  • @TheGr33k13 Lol!

  • The Srings just suck from one 100 owner to another.

  • i don't really like the lp-100 because it has a bolt on, i like les pauls with set neck

  • g400 better than lp 100

  • two weeks without retuning? Mine gets about three days, but it's prolly more how much you play than anything. I advise a locking strap for anyone considering one of these Also, thanks for actually posting the link you mentioned, when people don't post links they say they will it bothers me deeply.

  • @slugmax Ya i agree with you on every aspect. when i made this video i played lightly. nothing to heavey or fast thats y. now i prob go a week cause i also got my ibanez v. whats wierd is when i play fast metal i prefer the les paul cause it has smaller frets.

  • ah man, good pick-ups in a shitty guitar. lol, jk.

  • @davidt3400 lol dude im thinkin about throwing them in my ibanez v but those diamarzio d activators are pretty sweet on there

  • in israel its cast 100$

  • dude ibanez rg series for the win. stay away from the art series... i got a art 100 and now my straplocks are glued into my guitar. besides that fact rg series guitars are a million times better. and heres a tip : play before you buy, it depends how it feels in your hands. no1 elses.

  • hey dude! how i can change the potentiometers of my guitar?

  • @contraband07 its trickey ill make a video of it and post it

  • heavy? i think its pretty light

  • ya mine is heavy

  • @alexQ1993 eh it depends its prety heavey compared to my ibanez v. idk les pauls are almost always heavier than most guitars caouse there single cut away unlike most guitars that are double cutaway

  • dude just because a guitar has a single cutaway doesent mean its going to sound any better than a strat shaped guitar..................its all about the quality wood the company uses every lespaul i played wernt that great for metal......

  • @michaeltroke i never said anything about the sound i said weight

  • @alexQ1993 les paul's are known for being very heavy guitars. 9-12 pounds is heavy for a guitar.

  • did u buy it on the gibson website??

  • @erandyg1311 no guitar center.

  • Grover tuners? lol those are the cheapo generic tuners most entry level guitars come with.

  • @watchthepeacock sorry. at the time i had no idea on wtf i was talking about. but ya. this guitar is for sale btw if any1 is intrested

  • How much?

  • @TheAmazingLiberalist give me a rough estimate

  • @TheGr33k13 100-200 I'ma repaint it if I buy it. just FYI

  • @TheAmazingLiberalist ugh sorry bud but the pickups alone were almost 200. im looking more like around 300

  • @TheGr33k13 I can get a new one for 300, I'd go 215-250. but not 300

  • You have no idea what your tlking about the emgs and semiur duncens are usualy supposed to be on two different guitar.....o dnt think you have any idea what your tlking about......I'm not saying you dnt have an apinion I'm saying play them both.....there both nuts only for different reasons...emgs have much better highs mostly mention for leads....try playing leads with emgs....blackouts aren't better just different

  • kirk hammett uses emg's on he les paul, youu gunna say that to him?

  • first off he doesnt use les pauls. he uses esp's since the late 80's.

  • dude, if u knew, sometimes he uses a gibson les paul on nothing else matters live, i even know because i went to the winnipeg concert, and i know he uses esp's

  • @lilgoalieman I know they pull the gibsons out once in a blue moon but there primary guitars are esp

  • what r esps?

  • dude u sound like if u love kirk or something he usually uses an esp or a flying v or something. he is a good guitarist but look at alot of the concert and he will be probably be wearin one of those guitars.

  • kirk use to use Flying V's for his main guitar back in the early 80's, then when jason came in after cliff's death, he started using Esp, and in most of the concerts he uses Gibson night hawk or gibson les paul on "Nothing Else Matters"

  • are the knobs suposed to be loose like that because i have the same guitar and one if the knobs broke along with the metal peice it goes onto because i was trying to fix it

  • Lol, why you put these is a les paul 100:P

  • @911SHIZBO why not?

  • because he put 200$ pickups on a 200$ guitar

  • and?

its good to have some pickups.. when he gets money to buy a new guitar he can just put the pickups in that one.

  • @911SHIZBO Yes, do it on a Standard HoneyBurst!

  • @RuneAndVictor1 yes!

  • where did u put the batteries 9v for active pickup? Can u tell me how to install that blackout? Any Diagrams to refer?

  • yes you have to take out everything! the only thing you keep is the knobs. careful! when you do this. there is a wire that leads to no where and its realy confusing where it goes. this is the ground wire so you dont get shocked when you touch your guitar

  • Could u tell me something?

When you get Duncans do you get to replace every bit of your electronics?

    Please reply.

  • 6k views? hah thats more than 10 times of all of matts vids combined

  • how much would u sell it for

  • 300. how much would you think

  • This guitar or Ibanez GRX70 ? Which one is best ? Answer please

  • Ibanez GRX70, or GRX75.

  • my friend had one of these. I really dont like thin they make these. and 2 weeks without tuning?? hmm check your tuning everyday. thats a a little hard to believe...any way. good looking guitar. and yeah those blackouts are really nice. I have a standard LP. im looking forward to getting some Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 pros for christmas. hell yeah. those blackouts have alnico 7 magnets i think?

  • Alright i know i exagerated there, but back when i made this video i didnt care if it was exactly in tune, Now i do because im getting to leads and they dont soundright if it s not in tune, i dont use this guitar much anymore i got a ibanez v that was discontinued. i may play the lp about once ever month and only for a lil bit untill i realize how good my v is. the sound is good on it with blackouts i just dont like neck on it. i may sell it on ebay. any buyers intrested send me a message. Thanks

  • ive got the seymour duncan alnicoII pro on my les paul 100 they r really goood i like their thicker sound

  • how did u mount the 9v battery for the black outs

  • just stuck in the back with the pots and wires

  • Blackouts FTW!! :)

  • so, what strings should i buy for Lp 100.???

  • go with either ernie balls or i got the coated dr strings on it now. im probably going back to the ernie balls for thier feel, dont get me wrong the dr are amazing but there a lil expensive. it all comes down to what you prefer

  • Did you have to cut a hole in the back for the blackouts for the batteries ?

  • no i didnt

  • oh really? where you put the batteries pack things? i probably will do that to in my Beast i need new picks ups

  • i love how it looks

  • thanks man! i love getting coments like that, ill be putting about 6 vocal covers and a review of my new sweet ibanez vbt700 since now i have had time to break it in.

  • this was my first guitar, i now have a PRS McCarty fully loaded. This guitar feels and plays and sounds good to me still. I did replace the pickups though, but it's a great guitar for any beginner. Good review man.

  • probably the dumbest move to put those pickups in that guitar......... thats like puting spinners on a bug

  • actualy it has a nice sound to it! sounds then my ibanez vbt700 with deactivators in them! these are better on the bass than the dactivators but the others have good harmonic capabilitys. spinners on a bug would be sweet! lol jk

  • hey i have a random question...i have the same guitar but i whant to shange the pikups like the ones that u have but i dont know how to doo it. please help me lol

  • alright this isnt the hardest thing to do in the world, all you realy have to do is have a soldering iron, solder, time, and some pacience. when you purchase the pickups they come with instructions that tell you were to solder everything and so on and so on. if you need more info go to my page and message i will try to go into further detail if needed

  • do u think it is a good starter guitar

  • whats better

    epiphone les paul 100 or

    ibanez RG2EX1

  • um well is this your first guitar? then i coud answer you after that

  • that guitar looks awesome with silver colored pickups :D, at least pickup covers

  • r u serious about the tuning?! i have to fix my tuning every time i play a song.

  • um maybe a few days if im not doing heavey bending and heavey playing in general, if i can get enough people ill make another review on it since im more experienced now

  • alright...

  • at 3:09 i heard ur mom yell. hahahahahaha

  • Lol sorry about that mom was yelling at my bro :P

  • hahahahah thats k man, how old is ur bro

  • she was yeeling cuz im doing your mom! no hard feeings!

  • Dude grow up you little girl, when was the last time you heard a mom joke

  • today when i said it..

  • Wtf is an "oreocookie03"? About all you could "DO" is a cage full of gerbils.

  • the EMG 60 actually has really great cleans. So the statement that EMGs can't do cleans is false. Compared to the Blackouts...well that is open for discussion. I'm hopefully going to have some in my SG G400 so i can compare them to the EMG's in my Jackson. I just need the money first.

  • You removed the pickguard...?

  • Yes i did it makes it look like slashes lp, just like that one dude said in the one comment. i think it also looks better

  • hm. I think they look better with pick guard.

  • ahh, i wouldnt say these are better then the cleans on emgs

  • go check out the linki put in there from what i heard i would say so

  • "wath else?"nespresso!^^

thanks for this review i think i will buy it but i won't change the original pickups are they decent or very bad?

  • they are decent they have a decent clean sound but i didnt like them when you add distortion. your choice not mine but its a pretty good guitar.

  • the strings do suck, i changed them right away but usually the epiphones and even the gibsons arent set up that great out of the box =/

  • How bad are the strings? if they're too bad i'll just go get a pack of ernie ball

  • Better: you have to xD, cuse they almost break by looking at them...they felt like nylon to me, well the last 3 strings, very weird, so i've put a set of DR's on them. But the strings break fast anyways for some reason, and they always break at the bridge....so put some graphite (like in pencil led) on the little gap thats in it and in the nut...then youre guitar doesnt come out of tune a lot, and the strings wont bind and wont break easily

  • lol thanks i just got this guitar today and i see what you mean

  • np :P just change them ^^ btw ui dont think the pickups "suck" as this guy sais, you just need to adjust them some higher, to make them sound hotter, anyays, nice you bought it :)

  • dude i have Blackouts an they are OK at best for cleans...

However...FOR FACE-MELTING METAL TONES BLACKOUTS FTW!! idk, i never really liked the more treble based tone of EMGs

  • well sometimes you get bad guitar every now and then from what ive heard, but mine none of that stuff hhas happened besides the pickguard because i take it off and put it back on alot. ill send you a message because i cant explain all of this because of charecters.

  • did u take off the pickgaurd?

  • i though i stated that but yes.

  • im gonna buy it. i love this slashy look :)

  • do that if you are a begginer. i wouldnt buy it if you are intermediate unless yyou change pickups like i did then it kicks ASS!

  • the pick dosnt fall but it dose look better and every one takes their pickguard off from ronie wood to slash.slashs 1988 mainstay les paul standard did have a pick gaurd but he took it off you can see on the rocket queen wah solo into look closley if you like the pickups keep them if you dont chang thir level of hottness or get new ones

  • Could you play a demo of it with some distortion. Please

  • wtf lol, i got this guitar, and soon i wanna buy the Ibanez RG350DX...

  • i got a les paul and an Ibanez Rg Great guitars but ended up getting more ibanez's because of their playability

  • +1 im thinking of getting the ibanez rgt6exfx its about 900 so i gotta couple months of working to do! and i do love there playability!

  • i personly wouldnt buy it go for a higher end ibanez like i mentioned below im getting the rg6texfx or the xpt700
