  • The best american western.

  • this movie had a terrible ending.

3 mercenaries and a criminal against a 60-year-old who was having a bad day.

    He takes them all down.

    Seems legit.

  • @RockinOn456 Obviously they had been caught before - hence, not very good at being mercenaries/criminals:)

  • This movie is one of those why we go to the cinema!

  • Do

  • ganz grosses Kino...toller Film...tolles Lied

  • Grace Kelly, a true Hollywood legend and beauty.

  • This version is Ok, but I have to go with Tex Ritter, Cool Water was Frankie's best.

  • @vangelovan I agree.

  • Why can't people just enjoy the movie ? Oh that's right, we must understand its meaning first.. I remember it as a damn good western..been cool if their were 4 goods guys waiting in the town and one bad guy getting off the train..Wouldn't have been a movie then...

  • Its a great western, the best ever with a great message.

  • Die Musik ist normalerweise langsamer..und genauso langsamer sollten die Bilder sein...sorry

  • yo! Gary Cooper男伊達!

  • This movie irrespective of the time period in which it was made is a metaphor against tyranny and one of its worst aspects in american society was Macathyism and the utter fear and distrust it speard in its wake. And as in the film only a few brave people were prepared to challenge it at the time knowing that they will face dreadful challenges on the way to freedom.

  • I like this Movie because he Will Kane as played by Gary Cooper had show bravery, and a willingness to face men trying to kill him.True he was techinecally no longer the town Marshal, but he still feels that it is his duty to face those criminals. That is what I personally admire in any Human Being. The only thing that I hated about this Movie is the outright cowarddice of the Towns people. With three exceptions: a young man,a town drunk, and Kane's wife who at the last moment runs to his side.

  • What a nice song! Thank You for posting it!

  • Tex Ritter (John's dad) did this better in the film. Frankie Lane is 2nd best.

  • @molever I think the Laine version is much better!

  • @molever They're both pretty good. Have the lyrics changed? I thought the film version referred to Frank Miller.

  • i'm a singer and franie is one of the best voices i ever heard along with nat king cole bgt is calling

  • Some call it "Paradise´, others name it `Heaven´.

But for me it is just the "Supermodel-Skinny-Dipping-Beach".

    On my channel.

  • This ain't just the greatest western ever! It's one of the most significant films ever made. World-wide...

  • The hero had balls.

  • This is not the original, but it is a second version coming from Frankie Laine. He did re recorded some of his songs....

  • my favorite western of all time.....sorry duke.

  • Great Movie one of my favorites

  • OMG . my dads fav . he used to sing this at parties .only song he knew off bye heart haha . R.I.P. dad . thanks for this , pook1711

  • Really don't like this version. The guy can sing, but he really screws this one up.

  • Klasyka westernów. Super Muzyka!!!

  • Unforgetable film, great song.

  • Gary Cooper !!........never to be equalled.

  • Unforgetable film, and Mr Gary Cooper awesome.

  • This version/rendition is almost frivolous! Try the one with Peter Tevis, Morricone conducting.

  • Thank you 4 sharing and many thanks from my mother;-)

  • Esta película y su protagonista siempre ha representado para mí, lo que es un hombre consciente de su deber, justo y valiente. Gracias por esta enseñanza.

  • This version sucks ass...

    Tex Ritter!!!

  • @Hoopermazing This is not the original, and you are right it isn't very good.

Frankie Laine had a big hit with song when the movie came out, but this

    version is souless.

  • grace kelly <3

  • A movie that accompanies one a life time...Unforgetable Great Gary Cooper

  • Love this song but prefer the version used as the soundtrack to the film.... Tex Ritters version

  • I understand this was "just a movie". However, the script and the characters portray exactly the way of the world...evil is recognized by the masses but no one has the guts to confront it and stand up to it. Every once in a while someone comes along to do just that and the world pretty much hangs them out to dry. Ah, yes, the writer of this story knew it well...

  • John Wayne called this movie "un-American".

However this is one of the best American films ever made.

And Gary Cooper ...o, he is just Gary Cooper! The BEST!

  • @ilonloc01 John Wayne was a fag named Marion.

  • @ilonloc01 I agree with you,i can't imagine what JW meant by that comment,i have three favourite western's (and he is not in any of them);Gunfight at the OK Corral,The Big Country and this classic one.

I read that Gary Cooper was suffering acid reflux and gas due to an ulcer and this accounts for his constant swallows and gulp's which look like anxiety to us.

  • One of the most famous American songs ever written was composed by a Russian -- Dmitry Tiomkin. BTW, Irving Berlin with his "God Bless America" and other patriotic/holiday songs, was also born in Russia. life is fool or strange things :)

  • A classic film which pretty much sums up the way of the world, even today. Thanks!

  • What a great western and great actors and great song. In the old days there could they make great movies.

  • Trying to be brave. It isn't easy.

  • There will never be another Coop!

  • sag warum musst du von mir gehen, wie offt denken wir das wenn wir einen lieben menschen verlieren !

  • My late father used to play this song on his guitar and sing along. I think he sang it better than Frankie, but I'm a little biased. Enjoyed this video, thanks so much!

  • @mzunick1 The songs our fathers sang with us will always sound the best.

  • ...ich hätte mich wohl anders entschieden...^^

  • There are so many underlying messages in this song and movie.

  • @thknight44 Yes its about good fighting evil and most church going do gooders don't practice what they preach and wouldn't lift a finger to help.

  • A great movie. My favorite

  • Frank Miller--the author of Sin City and 300--is going down.

  • The best Western till now!

  • High Noon...der WESTERN!!!

  • I must say nelbrewster that behind every good man is a better woman. At 70 it has finally dawned on me that it is so. I will never tell Barbara of course but I suspect she knows. Fabulous show, brilliant acting and what a poignant song. I first saw this as a teen and only again recently - same as The Man who shot Liberty Vallance. I caught up with that again. Warmest to you Graham Melb Aus

  • ...da hat man noch etwas gelernt....hoffentlich^^

  • this was my granda's favourite song.

  • I like this and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

  • THIS IS A MASTERPICE WESTERN !!!!!!

  • NOT BAD. BUT TEX RITTER'S VERSION IS FAR BETTER. AND YES FULLY AGREED, HIS WIFE DID SAVE HIS LIFE.

  • @placentiabayman That's why Frankie Laine got a gold record for this song. The Laine version was much better, unless you're a country fan. I'm not!

  • Super Filmlied

  • one of my favorite us western movies

  • Is THE BEST Western-> and all American: a whole town that refuse to act/to see/to act....

  • Spoiler Alert, Cooper's character did not fight the gang alone. His wife saved his life by killing the guy about to shoot him by shooting him in the back.

  • Frankie Lane! The singer of the Love Theme to Blazing Saddles!!!

Mel Brooks said his liner notes for the singer indicated he should be "a Frankie Lane type." He was, of course, thrilled to get Frankie Lane himself :)

  • I can't stop listening to this, its epic

  • Frankie Lane's real name was Francesco Paolo LoVecchio. Italian guy.

  • @montelatici Thanks for the information.

    A very good singer.

    Best for this film.

  • Who else thought Lon Chaney Jr was great in this movie?

  • god bless you dad ..loved hearing you sing this in the olde legion in rhyl..a proud chairman an a bloody lovely gent.missss you every day love you dad xx

  • Although the recording was Frankie Lane's version, thank you for posting. It's just that I'm partial to Tex Ridder's version.

  • very good

  • Ein Klasiker den man gerne mal wieder anschaut.Gary Cooper in seiner Glanzrolle.

  • le deuxieme plus beau western de tous les temps

  • THE BEST WESTERN OF ALL TIME.

  • This movie is the quality we need today!

  • One of the best Movie ever made Gary you were one heck of a actor.

  • Not Tex Ritter but it works. In fact, I could make out all of the lyrics and I don't think I could do that with Tex' version. Photos are HD sharp and well selected. Stills have power that video doesn't. WELL DONE!!

  • loved this song & movie!---gary cooper,the greatest!

  • @lliwnaitsirhc my pleasure

  • @pook1711 pook? you've gotta be kidding me. that's what my dad used to call me, i hated that. pooky. well anyway, good video, i love trains, gary cooper and that black haired girl. was high noon a series, or just a movie. and didn't the funny chinese guy, and the blond haired guy (also in night at the museum) in a movie called high noon?

  • The movie and the song - a masterpiece of motion picture history

Film und Lied - Meisterwerke der Filmgeschichte

  • Grandios!

Danke!!!!

  • i love this guy ,,,,my dad loved him,,,xxx......n i think my momma loves him to,,,xxx

  • Did you see Sunday church members behaviour.

Surely the Lord will be sad

  • The picture stills work well with the lyrics...... an excellent job.

  • Scared? It was a MOVIE for Gods sake! Hello!

  • "High Noon" is my pick as the greatest Western of all time. The casting was superb. By the way, Grace Kelly was an attractive lady, but I want someone to convince me that there has been a more beautiful actress than Katy Jurado.

  • just watched this in theater.. loved it

  • So good!

  • Gary Cooper was not scared. He did not want to create a mess in the town. It were the people of the town that were afraid...too afraid including Lloyd Bridges. At the end, Gary Cooper fought alone and won.

Lee Van Cleef was given a role without any dialogues since he could not talk well on screen at that time.

  • @RealMusicKing Are you kidding me? He did not did NOT fight alone. Had his wife not shot Ben in the back, he would have died. Geez. A little detail often left out!

  • garry cooper =D

  • and killed everyone....even Lee Van Cleef

  • Which is some feat considering all the people Lee Van Cleef beat in Spain. LOL

  • @Wodanaz

    Lee Van Cleef was gorgeous!

    Thank you.

    Jennie.

  • Gary Cooper=AWESOME

A man who was scared/ shit scared Im sure....But he stayed,

  • @Malasar I believe the real definition of a hero is to be "scared shit" and do the right thing anyway.

  • @Malasar Gary cooper, up there with the best actors of all time, Sgt York is probably my favouite

  • Gary Cooper. Wow! Super actor.......I always thought he was the perfect hero in High Noon---a man who was scared of what was coming, but was too good of a man not to do the right thing, no matter how frightening it was.

  • High Noon was great. Very glad I watched it.

  • Top Westerns:

    1:The Searchers

    2:Unforgiven

    3:High Noon

4:Butch Cassidy n the Sundance Kid

  • My hero...sigh...

  • @meggieinwv "Only a madman fears nothing. Only a coward lets his fear master him".

  • @meggieinwv My favorite actor and singer!

  • not the original song

  • @Khamug is right that this is not the original sound track from the movie. But if you will forgive me I think this is a better version than Tex Ritter. That voice sound like Frankie Lane to me and he also made more than one version as did several other artists.

  • Watch the "persian cowboy's" version. It's not bad!

  • my grandad used to sing this all the time , he died today so this is extra poiagnant now

  • i think also that the trilogy of sergio leone should be on the first place, especially The good, the bad and the ugly. Then also Last train from gun hill, Rio Bravo...an d the Karl May western(especially for the actors, not for the directing itself). I'm curious to see rawhide...any remarks about it???please...

  • Grace Kelly as Amy Kane also has played a major role.

This song and all the participating artists are unforgettable!

Today on 12.Nov.2009 she was eighty years RIP

  • 5 stars !!!

  • This version is so weak compared to Tex.

  • What about Lonesome Dove? Greatest acting ever form Duvall and T. Lee Jones.

  • In my opinion and in no particular order the greatest westerns ever filmed were High Noon,True Grit,Once Upon A Time In The West,Unforgiven & Tombstone.

  • I would also put "The Searchers", "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" and "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" in that catagory.

  • Great movie--great song!

  • It was a great movie,Thanks

  • This is Frankie Laine!

  • Best Western of all!

  • "High Noon" is a good story, . . .
