if my mal gets that kind of coat(don't know exactly if the fur grows in the winter or if it's like that naturally), he will look huge! he weighs 43kg now and he's about 7 months i think and is only going to get bigger
Nice weight lifting. That dog has got to be heavy. I have a golden retriever myself, but even those can be heavy when fully grown (even though they are about half the size of malamutes).
@Sonicku they could survive a little exposure to heat in cali, id just recommend keeping it indoors most of the day and take them for walks early morning or later after the sun has gone down :)

LOL love how you disappear behind her! Our two mals are also long-haired although we have the groomer trim the feathers shorter for maintenance. it's great seeing the full fluff on Aurora!

She is only about 70 lbs, but most people think she's 100 pounds because of her fur. She loves being picked up and will jump on you when you don't. She is very cuddly and her Springer spaniel brother screams when we pick her up and not him. haha
haha mines 8 now, but I did do this a couple of years ago. She's the length and weight of an average male, but she still accepted it. I wouldn't do it now, even with the pup still in her, but its funny to see the reaction of who's alpha and the trust it tests.

my mika freaks out and freezes - ears back, tail curls up TIGHT, and her facial expression looks like she just saw a ghost haha good lookin pup. I think my next one might have to be a long haired. Mika's is much shorter.
Does she have a "wooly" coat as some breeders advertise? I only ask because I've been checking out breeders online and my favorite are the fluffy ones. Thanks
All Malamutes have a double coat. An outer coarse coat, and a soft under coat, which grows to keep them warm in the winter. The undercoat falls out in the summer.
She's only 74 pounds. She looks really heavy because she has longer fur than normal. She is a big fluff ball, but my son always loved picking her up and cuddling with her.
hahahaha very pretty Malamute. Looks a bit like mine too, although my Nikita is about 130 pounds. Vet said she is overweight, but I said, no, her parents are both large, but she explained if you poke the sides and DO NOT feel ribs, then the dog is overweight. hahahahaha So Nikita is now on a diet and we take long hikes. She still tries to get on my lap, but sure doesn't fit.
Actually, she is about 3 1/2 years old now. Her hair is longer than most Malamutes, so it puffs out and makes her look heavier than she really is. She is only about 75 lbs.

Malamutes actually hate being picked up. They are a very dominant dog
And hate losing control and being picked up. But class looking dog. Have to say I've never seen one I didn't like. Amazing creatures.

Sure Giant Malamutes are visually appealing but thats where it pretty much ends. They have far more health problems, dont fit the breed standard, and have very little mobility and agility that Alaskan Malamutes are known for.
