where is the star wipe... seriously I think that you should alwais use cross dissolve or do you own transitions... with old style footage, halo, whatever you want...
white flash or even a blurry effect at the end with a cross dissolve work pretty well.

These are just basic transitions. You might want to check out digital juices' "Swipes" they have some pretty cool transitions.
