  • @paulinedai There is about 10-20% Buddhists in China.

    And there is a lot types of Buddhism. Most of them is full vegetarian bat there is few that allowed eating meat. Some kind of meat are prohibited but it's usually carnivores, horses and elephants.

    I think that only in Hinduism beef is forbidden.

  • Have you tried putting a hole onion into the rice while its cooking? It tastes amazing!

  • @lHenry97 If you like that taste you can also add a little bit of asafoetida. Taste similar (smell weird), is very healthy and help with digesting.

  • @Smileyface4457 not with the nuts... I prefer to dry roast/toast them in the pan. Nuts have natural oils in them anyway.

  • Hey, I am a Chinese. Just want to spot out that, the way you cook rice would leak a lot of Vitamin B. 'coz it dissolve in water, the 'rice-water' wash away this element. I suggest you better simmer the rice, in around 1:1 (by volume) of rice:water.

  • @Ralucaru I think you can always replace the meat with tofu. It obviously won't taste the same, but if you like tofu, then why not?

  • YAY! gluten and lactose free! and loxoloxol is right, Tamari soy sauce is the best gluten free equivalent to the more standard soy sauce

  • I made the cucumber salad and added red bell peppers and tomatoes, it was great! i also cut up the middle of the cucumber and just added it into the salad!

    i served it along side stuffed zucchini and rice, because i had the ingredients for that and not for the 5 spice beef. think you guys should have a go at stuffed zucchini, would love to see your take on it!

  • Hey I have a request. In my garden we have a blackcurrant bush and a raspberry bush and I have loads of raspberries and blackcurrants frozen so could you do a dessert/sweet with them?

  • @thekilljoypotato they have a berry ice cream and they used frozen berries in it. i'm sure you can swap in frozen raspberries and blackcurrants!

  • I love this dish. But for those that are intolerant to gluten, you need to make sure that you bought the right kind. Most soy sauces that are available on the market are brewed using wheat. Although there are some soy sauces that do not have traces of gluten, it's best to not test your luck. Tamari soy sauce is traditionally wheat-free and I heard Kikkoman has made a soy sauce that uses rice instead of wheat.
