  • Your my kind a crazy Sootch!

I love your outtakes at the end of your videos, gives me my laugh and smile for the day.

    Thanks bro!

  • Thankyou for the informative vid! I have been looking for a decent review of this knife and will now happily order one This is the first vid of yours i have watched and on its merrits alone now consider your channel one of the very few gear reviewers worthy of subscribing too. Keep up the good work!

  • Can you show us some glass breaking tests?

  • nice video

  • make a review on the swiss army recue tool.........it like 70- 75 dollars........check it out

  • This knife is on my christmas list.

  • Great review on these knives Sootch. I will look into adding one to my deer skinning collection.

  • Trying to decide if I want the Barrage or the Triage. I'm leaning towards the Triage (appears to have a better handle). What do you think?

  • Great knife, awesome review, thanks!

  • You know I'll tell ya Scotch This is the 1st time I watched one of your vids. I was impressed by how well spoken you were, the data points you hit and the quality of the visual presentation.

I've been watching knife vids for years now and most are boring and uninformative. I liked yours. So much in fact I subscribed. I look forward to viewing other uploads and expect good things after this first viewing, You are a class act Scotch. Greetings from Ontario Canada!

  • cool^^

  • Thumbs up brother.

  • -- Is the carbide tip replaceable?

-- Can the cutter be sharpened?

  • Great review. Much better than that other guy that will ramble on about a knife for 20 or 30 minutes.

  • All my vet friends go bonkers with their benchmades, they love them and one of my closest friends who did 2 tours in Afghanistan LOVES his own benchmade don't know the model though sadly...i think it was the griptillian.

  • Ok guys, there are obviously far better blade choices for an EDC blade.

But this is a tool, and if you are a first responder - and you only tools ya have are what you're carrying with you...this gives you 3 great options for that 5oz.

    10/10

  • Sootch00- first of all, I'm a Gerber person. I will not put down anyones blade that they carry or that is being reviewed. I do realize that all the makes there is something for every one. I will tell you what caught my eye. It was the great color. I wish more companies would come out with brighter colors. Thanks for the review. You are one of the best of the best

  • I guess there is not much texture on the top because its not really meant to be used that way lol

  • i would get it if it wasnt so expensive :/

  • Thanks for the review! Been looking for one of those.

  • Wow you really are one prepared dood sootch00

  • $135+ for a knife??

  • @cresidue Rather speed that much on a knife than on a pair of crappy nikes.

  • @cresidue found it for $115 at gpknives(dot)com

  • Great knife. I'm a Paramedic and would love that knife, but almost all the people I know could not afford $148.00, heck we could not even afford half that price for a carry knife.

  • Thanks for the review. I was just looking at it in backpacker magazine.

  • I dont understand why not ALL clips are made like that. Of all knives I have, only one (a measly little Gerber) has a DEEP pocket clip like that.

  • I wanted those jeans.

  • I have this knife, and even though its for rescue, there are uses everyday for it. my favorite knife, highly recommend it!

  • I would like to hear a knife review by OJ Simpson!

  • Now I know why I saw Sootch wearing those cutoff jeans the other day!

  • almost seems like it could be a good field dressing tool.

  • the rescue hook is right handed only

  • ive never seen someone use two hands to close an axis lock

  • very nice review I like that knife.

  • how much is that knife about ?

  • Sootch

Do you secure one of these in a sheath in your car? If so, I'd love to see how you do it.

  • I love mine!

  • isn't this knife also resistant to salt water? that's an important point.

  • Does Benchmade have a Lifetime Warranty? I have an Auto Stryker which I love, but after deployments and hard use, it needs some help.

  • @1TacticalMedic You can send it in to Benchmade and they'll fix it up for free if it's under warranty or it'll be a very reasonable amount. I sent in my Presidio and it was about $12 for a tune up.

  • Nice, I want one! In Orange! PM me for my address so some one can send me one!! (Wishful thinking)

  • I've heard some bad things about Benchmade, frivolous lawsuits and immoral practices... I prefer Spyderco anyway. Just as good if not better.

  • Comment removed

  • ooooooh!!! (drools)

  • wtf is the difference if i scratch someting

  • I got my 915SBK-ORG for $112 including shipping. :P

  • @stuntmanmike37 gpknives(dot)com?

  • @nanashi1o3 Yeah, buddy. :D

  • Hi

Sweet deal right there. I have one and I love it!

    Take care!

  • Hey Sootch, you didnt mention how fuctional it is with big fat gloves on like fire gloves. How easy is its use when it is hard to feel the thumb stud? I am currently carrying the Ruko RUK0011 Rescue knife and was comparing it to yours as I was watching. The Ruko has a large button on the side to close it.

  • Gosh this blade is sooo slow. But I like it otherwise

  • Personaly I like the blunt tip on my rescue knives, less likely to puncture myself when I'm cutting somebody out.

    Great video sootch.

    Regards, Anthony.

  • dude, If I knew you were gonna cut up all my denim I wouldn't have lent it to you!

  • Great Batman knife, lol. Good review Sootch, as always.

  • I need that!

  • indeed the tip of this knife is useless... unless you make a Peanut butter sandwich

  • Is this knife good for circumcision?

  • @jambiyaSlaughter I've not had any personal experience with that... let us know how that works out for you.

  • @jambiyaSlaughter

    Are you kidding me? LOOL

  • Goingear did me right . Just my experience.

  • the only thing i want is a variation of this knife with a more pointed tip!!! please benchmade.

  • @Say0n yeah, the blunted tip is pointless when you have such a good rescue cutter on the back. With a sharp tip this knife would be perfect

  • Great to carry every day!!!

  • The hoock blade is a Seat belt cutter!! Nice blade my friend!!

  • i just bught the triage (orange) to my dad for chrismas. :)

  • @sootch00 I am a Fire Fighter and I love this knife, but it costs so much, we just dont always make the money to get it.

  • Goinggear has been getting some of my money. They are great to deal with

  • good review man

  • I say that is a good knife in a survival situation ,,,,,, Wide blade with a flat grind, stong and locks into place, and a cut hook.

  • You know man, I'm not questioning the great design, the good materials or the quality of manufacture but 160 bones is a lot of cash. I mean, you could buy the Spyderco Rescue for under a hundred and a rescue hook for not that much.

idk, love my Benchmades but I think I'll pass this one.

  • Smash a window in your review. Lol

  • good review sootch00, good review....

  • nice commercial lol

  • If I had the money, I would be all over this knife! It makes me drool.... Just a little though, would not want to rust it...

  • Great review, nice knife. Hmm, an idea is being developed in my mind of ... ems rescue multi-tool, is there some out or no? Haven't seen any realy. Can't tell the details though, ha ha, but maybe it will come out some day and hopefuly be usefull too.

  • great review.

  • Idea: What if you replaced the 'rescue hook' with a Carabiner type hook. Could make a good idea for zip lines...

  • I bought this and it hasn't left my side. Knifeworks has a code and i picked it up for about 110

  • I would not buy the knife as to me it looks hard to clean. Foreign matter such as blood or tissue could easily make its way into the mechanisms of the knife. Biohazards are a definite concern in today's world. However, excellent presentation as always and thanks for the review.

  • ty :)

  • Looks like a good design!

  • honestly, yeah the knife may be meant for a first responder to use it but I can see application for use in an edc bag. Use the hook to cut paracord or gut a possom, whatever and benchmade knives are no joke, thats one good knife.

  • @TheSonofthunder7 I agree. It's a perfect Prepper knife or Survival folder. So many practical functions and will jast a lifetime. Thanks!

  • Never mind about the price question haha this knife is expensive but looks like a good investment.

  • question for shooters: what is that name of the malfunction where the extractor rips off the base of the cartridge and leaves a broken shell inside the chamber?

  • @Chriznak A type of "failure to extract", more specifically a "rim rip-off', I dunno if there is another name.

  • @Chriznak It is a failure to extract, but if your playing for keeps, it is called, "Oh S**t RUN!!!!" At least I think that is the technical term ;)

  • I am a firefighter and this Knife has been at the top of my list for some time. Right now I run the Spyderco Rescue 73mm and a benchmade strap cutter. The Spyderco I save for life or death self rescue. The strap cutter by benchmade does wonders for removing clothes!! I even used it on a County sheriff"s duty belt while etricating him from his patrol car that lost control and rolled. he is doing well and back on patrol. But I stand-by the capabilities of the benchmade product!

  • How do you sharpen the hook?

  • @1nvrknws I use this hook at work to cut through sheets which had been fashioned into an EXTREMELY hard braid rope to facilitate suicide by hanging. depending on the type and tightness of the braid, it can be difficult to get started but once the cut is initiated it works well.

I have also used it to cut off clothing on dozens of occasions, I've found it to work very well compared to other rescue hook knives.

The edge on my knife hasn't been sharpened for years and performs as well as new.

  • hmm this seems tempting to get, if i can get my hands on one locally. it looks like it would make a good addition to my car's glove compartment.

  • I like the Triage but the G10 scales feel and look cheap in the hand for some reason, just a minor point. These are hard to find with a black coating and plain edge. There is also a model with dull tip, but then you better also carry a knife with a pointy tip to compensate.

  • How much is this knife? Looks like a good one to buy.

  • Cant believe you cut your favorite pair of Daisy Dukes.

  • @Iam1uglyguy I save my good pair. Those were worn out : )

  • 2nd comment, man I like all ur reviews, u should do a large bore handgun, raging bull 444?

  • Looks like a sweet knife!!!

  • If you could recommend a great all around pocket knife, what would it be?

  • @bowmaster24 That's a tall order. Knives are like cars... it's so individual. I usually carry the Benchmade Barrage or the Zero Tolerance 350, but I like defensive capabilities which are usually larger than most like for EDC. Check out the Benchmade Mini Barrage. It's super fast and lightweight. Spiderco is another excellent choice... I'm partial to USA made blades because of the quality of the steel. Sorry to ramble, but there are too many choices.

  • @AirsoftSootch00 Thank you for the response. Im gonna look into the mini barrage. Im a fan of the smaller compact knives rather than the bulkier ones. I had a spiderco as my last knife and it was the best one I have owned yet. Sadly I lost it, I think it might have fallen out of my pocket getting out of the truck! Anyways, thanks man I appreciate it and keep up the great reviews. I really enjoy the survival and self defense videos. Take care
