I have question:

Whenever I start off with the ^ shape and spread my legs out and come back in I always just stop. But I found that if I go from the ^ shape and back in I can lift my skates with my front does and land my skates again as I'm about to do the ^ over again. Sorry if it diden't make any sense. Hard to explain.

Terrible. This is not how to skate backwards. It's basically trying to warn beginners away from trying while showing them a lame technique that will, yes, push you backwards a little, but ISN'T backwards skating.

But I just watched it again to see what I was calling "gay", and I don't think this is that bad, really. I am not sure why I didn't like it. I think I was just being sensitive because I was at the time learning to go backwards on ice skates and I had the tendency to be captious toward certain methods of doing maneuvers. Like, here: do C-cuts not work on inline skates?

@Marshmelloman350 Well this is a poor method nobody would ever use who's adept at skating backwards. Work on your c-cuts to begin with. As you get better you will learn to start out using quick, short crossunders.

@Marshmelloman350 It isn't my method. It's the predominant method among skilled skaters. Now I am speaking about ice hockey, but I don't think inline skating should be any different. If you've ever watched a game of inline hockey, it looks just like ice hockey with only a few differences. One of those differences is that inline skaters do not appear to stay up at as sharp of angles as ice skaters. But this wouldn't make a difference here. Are you comfortable balancing going backwards?

Great demonstration but he forgot some major points. Like balancing you weight slight backwards different techniques on you knees for better control and maybe the going backwards with 1 leg, or maybe the more advanced actually step rolling backwards as to actually lift your feet.

To go backwards faster on skates you can also use on leg and do the open close movement he is doing...

e.x. if your a righty then your left foot stays still on the ground. your right foot does the open close thing this guys iss doin. if your a lefty then the opposite of what i said ( right foot still, left foot moving )
