first thing as any empire if your not at war focuse on economy build up indiamen send them to african areas because i've found that there are hardly ever any pirates there and if you can fill each trade post there its worth more than just having one. If your starting with trade agreements. Sign a peace treaty with the barbary states so they won't raid you. If your going to attack at this early stage attack the minor nations because they only have 1 region and over time have a full army there.

There are 3 things you MUST do to ensure early game success as Spain.

1 - Destroy the dockyard at Cadíz and non-money-producing buildings in Spain outside of Madrid. It sounds stupid, but it works, so shut up.

2 - Replace destroyed port with a Trading Port. Replace destroyed buildings factories/mills.

3 - Trade territories in Europe for colonies. Do not lose Naples or Gibraltar, however. Focus the rest of the game on trade and colonies.

@TKwarrior17 Well said i get rid of Naples too i trade it and sardinia on first turn to the mughals and get Bengal. Before i begin any negotiation i replace some of my ministers. Negotiate free mutual acess with France. Destroy the army in n orth Italy move my army from Flanders down into Spain. While negotiating free access i also demand Physiocracy from France. I then trade Flanders and north Italy to france for newfoundland and french guiana. This gives me furs and spices to trade.

When I played as Spain The Brits took Naples, which was annoying, and then the people there did an awsome thing.

They pushed out the brits and they became there own nation. Naples and scilily.

The trouble was they heted me. Why do you lot think they hated me so much? Even though I used to rule them

@prdude1234 Jejeje, en PR tengo unas cuantas embarcaciones, cultivo de cafe y un fuerte. Lamentablemente el fuerte se llama Osma por default. He tratado de buscar como cambiarle el nombre a San Felipe, a San Cristobal o San Jeronimo, que son 3 de los fuertes que quedan actualmente de los 25 (contando las baterias) que habia en la zona de SJ.

The Americans rise, but their not nessacarily hostile to you. On my campaign they arose in Philadelphia and i crushed them in the same turn :)

@Adonay96 man i agree with you. why is spain so powerful in this game?this game is in the 18th century when spain was in decline. lol they consider the portuguese a minor faction only cause they only consider the territories in the north hemisphere. Portugal had Brazil, angola, mozambique , cape green, goa( in india) etc. and still it is considered a minor faction?? i think they should consider the south hemispherian territories although not controlling them.

theres two regions: madrid and gibraltar, but the other cities are considered minor settlements and do not get their own special provinces

Yeah spain seems like a very hard faction to play...i mean atleast with the british there homelind is an island so invasion is not realy a problem....spain on the other haned tend to have regions with many factions around them.
