  • magnifico¡¡¡

  • Bravo !!

  • Wonderful music and beautifully played. Deserves HD quality for video.

  • i think it'd be better with less vibrato. it is baroque music after all.

  • @bachboy111 You're totally right about the vibrato. In fact the kind of vibrato these girls use was first developed in the beginning of the 20th century

  • I am playing this piece in chamber orchestra. I love it! =)

  • @tillytabby22 me too !

  • :) so beautiful

    especially the viola part :D

  • i am playing this in my orchestra right now i play the cello and some bits r sooo hard!

  • @Rockergal221 I'm a soloist for this and you are so totally right !

  • cuidado con los matices y menos vibrato, recuerden que es musica barroca.

    Suena bien.

careful with the dinamics, less vibrato too remember it´s baroque.

    Sounds good.

  • 3rd movement's my favorite :D.

  • @danielightning

    precisa-se dizer "senzza vibrato"

  • Some of the most beautiful music ever composed, and a lovely performance. Cheers!

  • Ah my chamber orchestra is playing this piece :) i am playing the second violin part. very beautiful

  • So am I. Well, I should say I have. The orchestra (more like an ensamble) I am in is playing this piece. Next week is our concert and then we will be on break until we start up in January and start playing music for our spring concert.

  • @Jazminerayne Oh my god me too!!! my chamber orchestra is also playing this and i'm playing the second part! :D

  • BAROQUE??

  • @xheartland it is baroque

  • non riesco a decidermi se siano più belle o più brave! a qualcun' altro l'ardua sentenza!

    cherno billy

  • Wonderful quartet arrangement. Quite accomplished.

  • lovely

  • Beautiful! Brings back lots of happy memories - we did it trio too.

  • is beauty....hablo español pero de verdad es genial...

  • Actually, it is 17th century music, and aside from a bit of excessive vibrato and a few portimenti, the style seems pretty good, as does the performance in general.

  • bitch y dont u find a better video

  • secas =P

  • i love this music!!!! nice tones......

  • Where is this paradise?

    Precioso, bonissimo!

  • im playing this song 4 school and i have 2 say this is AMAZING! chapeau!

  • Hey me too.

  • me 2 ! lol

    It seems so difficult

  • Not when you're playing second violin :P

  • @xheartland it is I play the cello solo piece

  • bellissima interpretazione...avete fatto bene...grazie per aver messo.

  • a doce musica barroca esta lindissima nas maos destas meninas.

  • extraordinario =)

  • 4:57...sounds bad

  • Viola part, shift to 3rd posicion with 2nd to 1st finger on D string. But this does not do bad to music. I like interpretation of this piece.

  • Whatever!

  • muy idolas todas!! esta tremendo!

  • That adagio was gold. Congratulations

  • It has been MONTHS, Love your version of it still. :)) indeed.

  • Master and Commander was awesome!

To bad that kid died...and the other one got his arm amputated.

    D:

But yeah. Russel Crowe, the violin, awesome.

    :D

  • i hate how everybody thinks those are the main parts of the movie...M&C is one of the greatest movies ever.......and there are more parts than the 1:00 long amputation scene

  • nice performance. I played this core with friends (me on the cello) and sounded awfull

    Where is the pastorale?

  • IT´S wonderful! I´m playing this in our orquestra and I´m studing this solo ,I´m cellist.

  • go ahead duarte!

  • Excellent! Love this piece!

  • I've loved this one, and especially the part from 4.00-5.00, since I first saw the movie Master and Commander.

  • I commented on this a long time ago. Still one of my favorites!! Such a great job you do. As I remember hearing it for the first time so long ago. Love it!!

  • To me its the second best to A. Vivaldi Summer one of my personal favorite.

  • It was played well and all but just make a note that during this time period of music, vibrato wasn't used....a all... Other than that good performance.

  • there are 2 violins 1 cello and 1 viola right?

    or is it 3 violins

  • Your right, 2violins 1 cello and a viola

  • Solist are a great part no doubt, but idk, I like it better with an entire group, we're going to play this in our school, and to be honest, I thought this was a bit slower than what we're gonna do, nontheless awesome work. Oh, and for some reason, for this song we have 2 cellist playing as solist o.o

  • "Beautiful"... "Baroque"...

  • encantador

  • Cellist was really good! The rest sounded quite painful though.

  • That's what most people say when they listen to a cellist - the violins sound sharp

  • Yeah, but this celist in particular had a nice mellow tone, and a steady rhythm. The 1st and 2nd violins seemed to be fighting to be heard more clearly. It's a quartet, man. We can hear you. Making it was just poor miking.

  • good job, i luv it ^^

  • Very well done, but more people playing would complement the sound. Case in point, the cellist sounds great but that is the 1st cello part only (I'm a cellist originally). It sounds really spectacular with at least 2 cellos, 2 violas, 3 violins. I played this back in HS in 1996, and I now teach music in HS. I showed this to my class so they could see what we hope to sound like eventually... Beautiful however nonetheless...

  • My middle school (New Jersey) played this as well.

Though it sounds very nice when played in a quartet I prefer it not to be played in one(we played it in a small chamber orchestra) This is because as you know there are separate parts from the three soloists (sadly only a cello, and 2 violins, I was sad about no viola solo also) When played in a bigger group it sounds like the soloists and the rest of the players are constantly replying to each other, as well as complementing each other)

  • well he was right this is really shitty without other people i play this with seronata and it sounds much better, just that individual noises like bow strokes etc. plays out really loud.

  • My teacher says you cant do this piece with a quartet. well, this just proves him wrong. kudos.

  • i am from sosnowa musicial school from Łódź(Poland)You're great.i'm playing corelli with my orchestra lodzkie smyczki.i love this concert;D

  • how good do i have to be to get into musical school? i need to have played for like 5 years or something to get in? :O

  • no u just need to play well

  • Really is orgasmic music

  • omg i kno!

  • i'm playing this song with my orchestra from school. Now I have a good example of what it sounds like, and I can practice with this. TY

  • what??

  • Bravissimo!!! :)

  • One of my very favorites!! What a stunning job you do!

  • Wow that was spectacular my favourite corelli piece, i would love to hear you do the overture to handels messiah, now that is an artisitic piece of work.

  • the slow part maybe, but at that time, boroque period there was no spicatto at all because the shape of the bow, yes it is true that they play with short strokes, but not spicatto

  • Baroque music is characteristic of martele eighth notes, but deteche sixteenth notes. So as far as I know, I think they played very close to a baroque performance - all they would need now are gut strings, curved bows, and no chin or shoulder rests.

  • Good performance, the only thing is that instead of playing stacatto, they would've played martele to imitate the barroque sound, well, thats mi opinion

  • I'm loving the suspensions in the Allegro.

  • ah i loved it! our orchestra played it last year for regionals & were invited to nationals - its such a beautiful song

  • i am extremely impressed! excellent job..I played this in orchestra a while ago and would have never thought it would sound this great in a quartet (especially with a missing secondary cello part, etc). But this is an amazing performance, and I am actually thinking of introducing this piece to my little high school quartet. And I love the vibrato btw unlike others

  • Very good

  • What a wonderful performance. Despite what the critics say, I am very pleased by what I have just heard from this quartet. And to the critics, Can you do any better?

  • A lot of criticism about the vibrato here ? Should they also play on period instruments and use gut strings as well ? Oh, and no chin rests or shoulder rests either.

It was well done. Music is a matter of interpretation by the artist.

  • Utter nonsence the comments on to much tempo, vibrato, emotion! Music IS emotion therefor there is no such thing as to much of it. A tone has to have a bit of vibrato otherwise it is lifeless. And it doesn't matter how fast you are telling a story.

  • O barroco é de uma vivacidade incrivel! Belissimooooooo!

  • Beautifully played. I've never played this as a quartet before, always been with slightly larger chamber orchestras. Amazing tone, dynamics and interpretation - less vibrato would be my only criticism, other wise - just as Corelli intended!! Keep up the good work.

  • One of my absolute favorites!!! Great job!

  • I suggest you play with a little less vibrato. This is after all a baroque piece and should be played with a bit more restraint and perhaps a bit more swiftly

  • Good Cello... Kept up well with that crazy tempo

  • I take that back... Thats a really slow tempo

  • You are all wonderful!

  • corelli!!! the girliest of the italians

  • nevermind, there's madeline.

  • beautiful vibrato :) are there any violas? if not, :( cause i'm a viola player...

  • O my God these is not a baroque piece, more study and less vibrato please.

  • i agree!!! you are absolutly right

  • you're both idiots.

  • i agree with brain decrease.

baroque pieces have LESS vibrato. Hence, they use more vibrato because this isn't really a baroque.

  • Don't misunderstand, it's baroque and shouldnt really have vibrato, but these girls arent exactly pros. Theyre just some hillbillies playing nice music. Theres no need to nitpick is all.

  • Who told you that Baroque pieces don't have vibrato? They always do have some, otherwise they'd be really boring to listen to. However, the vibrato used in Baroque pieces (slower movements with the fingers) should be different from the one you'd use for Classical or Romantic pieces (more "nervous" like movements).

Anyway, I think this was an awesome performance. Well done!

  • I'm sure the pieces you've heard do have it lol. Enthusiasts, though, know that vibrato is a modern form of expression, not really used in the baroque era. In professional baroque performances, true to the period, vibrato isnt used at all.

  • Un ensamble magnífico, y el sonido, estupendo, muchas gracias!!!

  • Corelli's not dead! wahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Beautiful !! =) the cello part of this concert is amazing !! =)

  • the cello player is sexy...corelli would also have thought so...

  • the girl seatting in front of her is sexiest, for me and Corelli too

  • Sublime music work

  • Verry nice. I played this a few years ago. Except with 2 basses playing the 2 cello parts, 2 violins, and a viola.

  • These ladies did a nice job. I would suggest a little less vibrato in the opening movement. My favorite recording of this is from Naxos. I was just talking to my teacher the other day about vibrato when playing baroque music. He said that back then vibrato was used "cosmetically" in a similar way that people would wear makeup. If you use vibrato very often in baroque music, then it's like you've smeared lipstick all over your face.

  • This does not sound baroque at all.

I dont think Corelli would have wanted it to sound like this.

  • Who cares what Corelli would have wanted. He's dead. Play the music any way you want. Your the performer. Do what you think is right. If you want to play it Baroque like Corelli would have wanted, great. If you want to do something a different go ahead. If everyone played this music the same, it would become boring and dull. I'm personally a traditionalist and I think Baroque should be played Baroque, but you're the performer. You choose.

  • i agree with violabrain, the musician should be the one to say how much emotion they are going to put into the music, not the way people have played it before.

  • hey guys...it sounds great...but i agree with Stairway, way too much emotion...the allegro for example...the first and second violon should sound like one violon...but the way you guys played it...i could tell the violons apart...it sounds great but for those who know how correli plays lol will give you a correct critique...nice job though

  • isn't interpretation up to the performers

  • jekelbro98765 is totally right.

  • I did not know that Corelli was such a brilliant composer... and Vivaldi really followed after his teacher.

  • Well, Corelli pioneered the art of violin playing and brought to a whole new level, and Vivaldi brought it to an even higher one

  • A veces suenan cosas muy buenas, otras sin embargo no, deben estudiar un poco mas la afinación y la conducción de las ideas musicales. Más allá de todo buen trabajo! Saludos de Buenos Aires, un colega violista.

  • Thank you - beautiful!

  • when the cello starts at : 4:16 that for the cello is not staccato.

    It is weey beautifool

  • not staccato but baroque style of music.correct?

  • yes. corelli was a baroque composer.

  • Then the cello is baroque and the style should stay the same and not be played legato like pbaron23 stated

  • YES. The idiot that said that is an idiot. Lol. There are some people that claim baroque music should be played with emotion. It shouldn't and I am glad there are people on youtube that understand this like you. GO YOU!

  • lol, i agree that all music should be played with some emotion, but emotion can be different for a different style, thats like saying you would like to play beethoven on a harpsichord, HAHAHAHAH

  • LOL!

  • Why shouldn't Baroque music be played with emotion? It sounds good doesn't it? Besides, all great art is open for interpretation. If Baroque music is played without emotion all the time then it becomes dull and boring, and people forget about it.

  • True... but it isn't meant to be played like a romantic piece. I mean... emotion is essential in music but what I'm saying is that baroque is a different style that requires little emotion compared to the romantic era.

  • I know what you mean, but there are some romanticised versions of Baroque peices that sound spectacular. Search up four seasons karajan here on youtube and you'll see what I mean.

  • 768111 you dont understand music at all. emotionless music my ass!! Shut the f*ck up you make me angry!

  • Beautiful...passionate! Thank you!

  • Yeah my orchestra just started playing this today we've only gotten to the Adagio, but it's such a fun song to play isn't it? You guys did an amazing job at making it sound beautiful :)

  • WHOAA my quartet is playing this too!! i have this jawn in my folder. gen is so much better than me lol.
