@answeringantimormons Our "representative" government, in the form of the California Legislature, passed AB 43 in 2007, legalizing same-sex marriage. Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill, saying it was a matter for the State Supreme Court to decide. In 2008 the Court did exactly that, and same-sex marriage became legal. The Governor said he agreed with the court's ruling.

I am a judicial conservative. Legislating from the bench is bad for everyone. period. In point of fact, it was "ProtectMarriage" the organization funded almost totally by Mormons, whose lawyers took my two legally-married neighbors to court in March of 2009 and argued to have them forcibly divorced. I'm confused. Neither Peter nor Paul (@1:52) preached against other faiths. Jesus (@2:06) sometimes criticized members of his own faith. And it's "unbiblical" (@3:20) for street preachers to "attack" Mormons.
Yet Mormons attacked my Episcopal church and over 200 other California churches and synagogues when they funded Prop 8. They ordered us to change our marriage sacraments in order to obey LDS doctrine.

Two questions: Name twenty instances where the leaders have said "The Bible is wrong here." You make it sound like it happens all the time. It doesn't. It has rarely happened, and the Bible, even where wrong (1 John 5:7-8 or Matt 5:22, both KJV) is used without editing.
Secondly, which Greek text is perfect, the one used in the KJV, or the modern eclectic texts composed from a scholarly survey of all known Greek texts? Does getting the Word of God exactly correct matter?

The translation has been affirmatively shown by William Shriver to be based on a code which had nothing to do with any of the Egyptian texts we now have. We only have 16% of the original papyri. So even IF he tried to translate the actual text, we don't have it. Anti's forgot to tell you.

"washing of regeneration" is baptism. Even Calvin taught that was the meaning of this passage.
The continual misrepresentation by critics of the LDS position on Grace, or the meaning of the term is disappointing. Of course Christ performed the Atonement without compulsion, and did something no sinful human could do. But the knife-like excision of these passages, while ignoring the vast majority of New Testament doctrine, like Hebrews 5:8-9 is why Mormons easily win.

I hold the Bible in the highest regard. I value its words more than life itself. I believe it deserves to be read in context, studied and followed. When people cherry-pick what to follow, or ascribe meanings to passages not there, or ignore explicit statements which are, I am going to politely say "Inaccurate."
Jesus submitted to the authority of the contemporary Jewish leaders. He argued they were hypocrites of the faith. He described them as being of the house of Israel, just as Paul does. He attended religious services with them. He honored their correct religious customs, and attacked their erroneous ones. He specifically told the Caananite woman who came to him that she was a "dog" relative to the lost sheep or children to whom he was sent. Jesus was a Jew among Jews.
Lastly, the entire letter to the Hebrews makes the point clear and pointedly that Jesus' priesthood, though superior to the Levitical priesthood, had the same authority before God in terms of making an atonement for the people, though he changed the offering to one single, sinless offering of himself, and holds the high priestly office forever. The priesthood and Jewish faith by Christ is everywhere affirmed.

Do you considers matter to be a thing? Because John 1:3 says "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." @answeringantimormons Our "representative" government, in the form of the California Legislature, passed AB 43 in 2007, legalizing same-sex marriage. Gov. Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill, saying it was a matter for the State Supreme Court to decide. In 2008 the Court did exactly that, and same-sex marriage became legal. The Governor said he agreed with the court's ruling.
I don't think you care a thing about representative republican government, bob. I think you're a theocrat, nothing more.

I am a judicial conservative. Legislating from the bench is bad for everyone. period. It creates a society which does not feel they need to work through public channels, they just need to get a judge who agrees with them. Then those without money to fight lose. @answeringantimormons In "the market place of reason", the people of my state also voted in far greater numbers to deny state services to immigrants (Prop 187 in 1994) and to allow landlords to refuse to rent to "colored" tenants (Prop 14, 1963). These Props were found to be unconstitutional, just as prop 8 was.

I'm confused. Neither Peter nor Paul (@1:52) preached against other faiths. Jesus (@2:06) sometimes criticized members of his own faith. And it's "unbiblical" (@3:20) for street preachers to "attack" Mormons.
Yet Mormons attacked my Episcopal church and over 200 other California churches and synagogues when they funded Prop 8. They ordered us to change our marriage sacraments in order to obey LDS doctrine.
At least the street preachers only TALK about you; they don't force their will on you.

Two questions: Name twenty instances where the leaders have said "The Bible is wrong here." You make it sound like it happens all the time. It doesn't. It has rarely happened, and the Bible, even where wrong (1 John 5:7-8 or Matt 5:22, both KJV) is used without editing.
Secondly, which Greek text is perfect, the one used in the KJV, or the modern eclectic texts composed from a scholarly survey of all known Greek texts? Does getting the Word of God exactly correct matter?

@answeringantimormons The best part here is that I don't have to. If the Bible isn't perfect, your church shouldn't have canonized it, and if it isn't, it makes sense that the Mormon god would've given you a corrected version, but he hasn't bothered to do that either.
What you're forced to do in order to make Mormonism work is open the door to the Bible being in error so you can slip your own false faith's teachings into the gap.

Well, I have been watching this little name calling exchange, and I feel I need to intervene about this mis-statement. Joseph Smith did not "mistranslate" the Book of Abraham. Keep up. The translation has been affirmatively shown by William Shriver to be based on a code which had nothing to do with any of the Egyptian texts we now have. We only have 16% of the original papyri. So even IF he tried to translate the actual text, we don't have it. Anti's forgot to tell you.

The continual misrepresentation by critics of the LDS position on Grace, or the meaning of the term is disappointing. Of course Christ performed the Atonement without compulsion, and did something no sinful human could do. But the knife-like excision of these passages, while ignoring the vast majority of New Testament doctrine, like Hebrews 5:8-9 is why Mormons easily win.

Lastly, the entire letter to the Hebrews makes the point clear and pointedly that Jesus' priesthood, though superior to the Levitical priesthood, had the same authority before God in terms of making an atonement for the people, though he changed the offering to one single, sinless offering of himself, and holds the high priestly office forever. The priesthood and Jewish faith by Christ is everywhere affirmed.

Do you considers matter to be a thing? Because John 1:3 says "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." Plus if you read Gen 1 carefully the creation happens before Gen 1:2 and adding "when" in English has no effect on the meaning in Hebrew and certainly doesn't mean the Bible explicitly teaches God didn't create matter but merely shaped already existing matter.

Sorry to take so long, but I think John 1:3 is addressed in the video. If not, let me state: The passage discusses all things that are made, were made by the Word. That is because, as Shown in Peter, they believed there were things which were not made, but always existed. That is the meaning of Genesis 1:1-2 and 2 Pet 3:5 affirming the eternal nature of matter. In fact, all of the New Testament confirms this. Thanks for the question.

@ answeringantimormons Why didn't you talk about how Mormons believe that God our creator was once a man just like us who gained exaltation through his heavenly Father in order to create a world of his own which became Earth? But it says clearly in scripture, that God is the beginning and the end, the alpha and the Omega and none other shall come before or after him. Contrary to what scripture says, Mormons put themselves equal to God by saying they can become Gods of their own world too!

I exchanged emails in July with Shawn about appearing on his show. He said he looked forward to it, and would have someone reach out to me to set up a time. He said he would give me at least 4 months to prepare. I have not heard anyone from HOTM since then, so I assume they don't want me on air until sometime after March.
I believe it will be quite enjoyable.

I have never seen a Biblical Christian and a mormon discussing issues as heartfelt as these. I think it is important to get all the facts. @minpinlover26 I can attest. Bob exchanged email with Shawn McCraney back in July. Because he was not on the best of terms with Shawn, I mediated between the two of them via email. I actually got Shawn to give Bob a chance, so I must take the credit when Bob gets his one hour of fame on Heart of the Matter. It will be a great show to watch, indeed.
