To Rednex: Thanks for your reply regarding the frequency of tornadoes in the Manitoba area. I have always wondered if you folks up there had a tornado "season" with some annual activity. That Elie nader was something incredible, wasn't it? The violent action of the debris cloud reminded me of the insane Pampa, Texas tornado of about 10yrs. ago.
What a gorgeous, classic elephant trunk tornado! Looks like a superb area to film tornadoes...as long as there are good enough road networks to support chasing.
Tell me, does Manitoba, and in particular this area shown....tend to get tornadoes from time to time? I mean like perhaps....every spring?? Thank you.
In recent memory, I can only recall one very weak tornado touch down in the immediate area where his video was shot. These two tornadoes that were happening were just amazing. Manitoba does tend to get a few starting in June and throughout the summer. Not a large amount though.
ALEXherson:lol... ;) So i guess ,if you're an expert, you are driving arround with a van ,seeking tornadoes? you alredy finished studying at the University ? very unlikely
Actually I'm pretty sure Environment Canada rating this tornado as an F3 and the tornado to the right of the frame, which is seen in Tornadoes from Elm Creek 2, as an F5.
Not Sure about this one... Think it was maybe an F3... In my other video (Tornadoes from Elm Creek 2) I show both tornadoes that were happening at the same time. I tornado to the right in the other video is an F5.
I'm not to sure... F2 or F3 I think but in the Tornadoes from Elm Creek 2 there are 2 tornadoes, this one and another one to the right of the frame, that one was an F5. Canada's first. It destroyed 4 houses and damaged several building in the area where it hit.
nice clip, the background behind the tornado makes it look really scary! you all sound really excited about it! EVEN THE KIDS! i would of shit myself by this time lol that lightning is cool too!
Yeah... It was freaky. I was more in shock than anything! I wish I had a tripod too! I'd heard about there being a funnel cloud by Elie. About 20mi as the crow flies from my town. So I grabbed the Z1u and went out. Didn't think I was going to see anything but I was surprised. The larger tornado was about 10 miles away. A day I'll never forget though! Thanks for the comments!
No, we weren't scared, we were more amazed, I knew one of the tornadoes we could see was at Elie, Manitoba. And the other was straight north. Didn't know how far under after. It was at least 10 miles though. Was windy or anything where I was shooting. We've already had a bunch of tornadoes and funnel clouds in Southern Manitoba already. Nothing too powerful, but we all think it's a taste of what's to come! It's going to be a doozy of a tornado season.
now thats what a real tornado should look like
