  • it's iPod, not Ipod

  • yeah, pendulum

  • fantastic video

  • Sound quality on this video is HORRIBLE. You've made it unwatchable for that reason alone. :P

  • I want to hear the commentary--but having to turn it up and down gets old fast. Thanks for the effort.

  • @therealcharismatron watch?v=bOONhFutsrg <3

  • Did Jonathan Ive lost a ton of weight and he looks 20 years younger? laser surgery or some botox maybe...hmmm?

  • why are you so obsessed with looks and vanity? he's a designer not a model.

  • @Muckydoggy1 You are misinterpreting my motives. I think he's gorgeous. You're silly.

  • I'm from Newcastle where he studied

  • J. Ive is the reason for Steve Jobs and Apple being what it Is today. Without Ive Apple would crumble. He is the Genius and King of our Technology World as we now know it. Expensive ? Yes !! Do I love it ?? Yes. Hooked on Apple?? Yes. The most Beautiful pieces of Tech Art every created the Apple products not only look cool & awesome but they Do what they say and that is Simplicity with style and Software that is unbeatable. No other company will ever out run Apple not now not ever. S

  • Take Ive out of Apple and you are left with... a bankrupt company run by a mad man. Add Ive to Apple and you have...the richest tech company on earth run by an genius. Apple never made a real profit until Ive joined. Jobs had a vision and energy, but without Ive he would have been a broke mad man.

  • do this again with newest stuff!!than you'll see how significant Apple grows in last years..=)))

  • dubstep

  • What do i get in College? Computer Science or Industrial Design???

  • Sorry, but bad vid...

  • he is the greatest designer in 2000s century

  • 1:10

Dell XPS meybe is not as good looking, but x times more powerfull.

  • buying apple products is to me 50 % design

40 % beauty of the os

    10% don't know :P

jon ive your use of aluminium is revolutionary in every way

you gave style a new defenition

  • Jony Ive the next CEO!!

  • I wish I could make a career out of ripping off Braun's design engineers too.

  • Do not forget the hardware engineers. They also did a fantastic job..

  • IVE COPIED THE BRAUN DESIGN - THAT IS ALL

  • he went to my school :)

  • Amazing. simply the word to describe this man, Also to the Uploader that made this video.

  • yep and hes british

  • Most of this video is wrong. It seems to mostly be made up. There's a great interview with Ive in Objectified, a documentary on man made things.

  • thanks helped loooads with my A2 product design exam!!

  • i think jony is the next CEO's apple inc.

  • @harkiratize hope!

  • @KaloAngelTV yeah i hope

  • @KaloAngelTV yeah i hope

  • What's the exact name of the song ?

  • Pendulum - Granite

  • NOT the best mp3 player of all time, might be the best SELLING, but by no means the best mp3 player.

    Go buy a (Microsoft) ZUNE

  • @camonjjjjr

    Zune blows balls.

  • @camonjjjjr zune is no longer for sale, Microsoft dropped it, because it suck, it's not making any money, and nobody buys it.

  • I love this man! Good to know that he's still young (compared to Steve) and will stick around for a long time to make more and more Apple designs. I wanna stroke his stubble while he reads to me.

  • Song sounds like Shockone not sure what song though

  • granite by pendulum .... start was edited by me... god knows why.... the ending is from pendulum tempest .... (i needed moar music)

  • whats that song? and artist?

  • Pendulum granite

  • I believe the best design he ever made was the unibody Macbook Aluminum. Ever since I've been fascinated by the new look and design and I love the black bezel and black keyboard. Simply stunning and amazing. The iPod Nano 5th generation is another piece of art!!

  • The photo at 1:07 is a young Dieter Rams, not Jonathan Ive.

  • I Like This guy So much!!

  • Apple's success has not been down to the design of the hardware alone.

It is to do with the software working WITH beautifully designed hardware, you need BOTH for it to be a success.

The iPod is a perfect example of this partnership.

  • Apsolutely, though rip appart an iphone, you will see little apple branded product.

  • You did a project on Apple... On a computer running Microsoft Windows? Blasphemy.

Oh, and your video sucked as well. Too much text, and too many cheap effects, typefaces, and oh yeah, spelling and capitalization errors. That shit's kinda important for a school project.

  • @robisajackass

yeah windows is all i had, text is what the brief was, my project was on johnathan ive, not apple, as in info (it was rushed) cheap effects comes with using windows movie maker, and shiz i got an A for the year :D

  • Well, congrats on getting an A. It's too bad most professors are too computer illiterate to know how simple things like WMM are.

  • wahhhhhhhhhhhhh wahhhhh that's all i hear, he did a good job on his video, i don't see you with any works of art so you're all talk

  • yer boy you tell them

  • @robisajackass

    where's yours?

  • @robisajackass .....robisajackass, your a wanker!

  • I love this guy, such an inspirational human being!

  • Rescuing Apple from folding in the early 1980s? huh? Ive didn't get hired to Apple until 1992. And the iMac in 1998 was really the first of his teams creations.

So I think you meant to say late 90s.

  • Yah I noticed that too...he is only 37 plus he's said in other interviews he didn't touch his first Mac untill "88....

  • if i had a imac g4 would you be jealous

  • jonathon ives is the pnly reason apple is so great

  • its not the only reason (they have great engineering otherwise they couldn't build ive's designs), but it is certain to be one of the main reasons.

  • i agree with that too but the thing is without him ipod would be just like a zune or a p2/p3 jonathon ive is the reason it stands out nut i personally i respect your opinion :) sorry if i exagerated it

  • good video

  • i got a mbp 17'' unibody because it looked freakin cool

  • hes the next ceo

  • @irulethe70s

    no its tim cook

  • I don't wanna be rude uktraceur, but I hate these amateur videos on youtube, u know just in general...

  • In all due respect, The extra effort and processing time that would have had to put into what is basically a school assignment is just not worth it. my brief wanted me to get as much info across using some media form. I do have more advanced software however the effort i cba :)

  • @uktraceur Yeah sry mate, true – the video was informative. :)

  • what pendulum song is this????? plz help me

  • granite, though i modded the start because im lame, haha and the ending is off tempist, because i ran out of space, the majority is granite. if you like this you should check out spor (molehill or 1up) and chase and status, <3 the 3 of um

  • $2M a year is really unworthy of what this guy helps create. I assume he gets mammoth bonuses and has a sexy amount of shares as well.

  • Great Video, Apple rock i'm getting an iMac next week for my birthday!!!!

  • I'm seeing this guy in April

  • That would be cool to be an offspring of the man who designed the imacs, macbooks, iphone, and ipod. I mean you could get laid so easily, haha.

  • Apple. Business genius...Steve Jobs. Design genius...Jonathan Ive. The engineers are good but apple has never been about technology it is about lifestyle.

  • yep.

  • i cant belive you lot are saying 2 million is not alot i think your all forgetting that although ive may have come up with alot of the designs bla bla but there will be masses of engineers , designers, software writers who have played a huge part as well who have to get payed to !!

  • $2 million is not alot of money. People buy apple for their design, the technology is no better than other similar products and never has been. Jonathan is a humble guy and knows that designers rarely get paid what they deserve. Although he could go elsewhere and earn more he is happy with his family. By most peoples standards it is alot of money. But not when you consider that without him apple would be producing products just like the rest and they would probably have gone under.

  • Actually, $2M is a lot compared to what Steve Jobs himself gets... $1 a year (Obviously not counting the perks)

  • $2,000,000 a year isn't much for perhaps the second most important figure of a multi billion dollar company.

Also, the iPod did not have a colour display until the fourth generation, and video until the 5th generation.

Also, the iPod did not pioneer the idea of a hard drive in a PMP. When the iPod was released, it was a breakthrough only for its combination of large storage, great interface and stylish exterior.

  • Steve Best?

  • ahmmm yeha steve jobs, haha i really should proof view my work. meh i got a good grade, no one noticed Shhh!

  • u spelt staggering wrong its with 2 ts not 1

  • good job man, us Brits know how to Design. (I'm a brit studying Design too!) :) £1,302,000 salary going by todays exchange rate.... nice!

  • A low salary in truth. However you have to prove yourself in design so I await your work.

  • haha true, true.

  • You say he saved apple from folding in the early 80s. But he was still at school in the early 80s!

  • I think he meant late nineties.

  • @CultureJudge ... even i liked this :p

  • @CultureJudge I think was the 90s

  • @irulethe70s What was the 90s? That he was at school? No, he was at comprehensive school in the early '80s. I know, see, 'cos he was sitting right next to me.

  • @CultureJudge I know he designed the Mac in 1998 so i think it was early 90s

  • @irulethe70s I repeat: WHAT was the early 90s? That he was at school or that he saved Apple? He's in his early 40s. That and my eyewitness testimony to him sitting at an Art A-Level schooldesk from 1983 to 1985 puts him in school in the early 80s. Late 80s, he's in Newcastle doing his design degree. Early 90s he's building his reputation with Tangerine, then joins Apple.

  • @CultureJudge He joined in 1996 then in 1998,BAM! iMac

  • @irulethe70s He joined earlier than that - around 93. He spent 3 years working in a basement room being ignored until Jobs came back to the company and fired the guys that were sitting on Jony's talent. Jobs looked at all these weird prototypes that Jony had made and which weren't being built , immediately promoted him and gave him the iMac to design.

  • @CultureJudge He saved them in the 90's when Sgteve Jobs returned in 1996 then designed the first iMac

-iulethe70s, proud G3 owner(too bad mine is a 2001, not 1998, but am still proud of of pulling it from a dumpster

  • a british person designed ipods and macs??

thought so, our country cant do anything by ourselves. god i love those brits.

  • Nobody loves the Brits, not even the Brits.

  • cheers man, (im english "UKtraceur") ive often woundered do americans actually think we live in castles with aunty's maids and badminton for entertainment.... there is nothing wrong with america, though they have relied on and still rely on the UK for so much, (Vice versa also) but i would love to think, what do you actually think of britain, if you were to arive here tomo, what would you expect?

  • I am from the UK also. The UK has poor weather, beautiful countryside and amazing talent. I wish the weather was better in truth.

  • I'm a huge fan of Ive, but this video gets so much wrong.

Ive did not "create" the iPod, nor iTunes, and the idea that he creates "designs for the most technologically advanced computers in the world" is just plain goofy. And even though Ive is certain a part of Apple's turn-around, Apple's current success is due to several other factors.

Ive designs the form of the products and that basic materials; he doesn't do user interfaces, circuit engineering, or software design.

  • dude sorry to let you down, but this was for a DT project so was rushed, i do state somewhere in the information area that it was rushed. sorry to let you down ;p

  • Haha you're not letting me down. I just wanted to put the correction there. Thanks for making the video.

  • Jonathan Ive did not invent or design iTunes.

  • maybe not. but neither did you!

  • Amazing mate, puts ours to shame!

    Greg

  • cheers :)

  • well, it's very good, but I wish you had sent me all the copy ahead of time so i could correct grammar mistakes.

  • cheers amy, sorry lol it was made in a rush on movie maker, almost all the graphics were made on xara, exported then imported into movie maker. xara is a graphics software and therefore has no spell or grammar checker, and along with my horrific english ability its probably very bad. If the facts used are incorrect i appologise again, i sorced from old library books wiki and forums, as apple didnt want to give alot away haha cheers though! :)

  • the facts were great! the presentation was great. you just need a girlfriend who's an english major!

  • haha, you know where i can find one of them :) hehe. im more an ICT math physics etc guy.

  • Nice work man!

  • cheers :)

  • That was unreal!!!!!!!!!!

And now im going to cry cause it was so good!

    Well done Bollins :)
