@thekrakenism Who can help me? Would it be possible to make mix this in advance in a large batch and keep it in the freezer so you could have it ready as a pre-dinner drink for let's say about 12 people?
@thekrakenism Thanks, it really should be just one drink before going straight on with dinner. and yes about 2/3 hours, i'm just wondering whether the lime juice would quickly go down in quality.
@a87fhj lime juice is of course at best when freshest. it should go bitter in a rather little period of time i agree. I would however, serve the punch in ice with the increased concentrations of the ingredients. But actually the whole idea is about having fun... I suggest you mix it in front of your guests so avoiding more risk of diluting your refreshment:) good luck and have fun at your party
@a87fhj The whole idea of making cocktails is the spectacle of them....if your dinner guests are friends....practise at home with bottles of water until you get a flow going and then when the arrive set up your "bar" and whip our six at a time. I can assure you that some of your friends will be impressed. If you pre mix this stuff and keep there is settling that occurs and also lime juice tends to become bitter over time. Fresh is Best :)
@simoneua it doesn't really matter whether it's soda or plain water. The point is to just quicken the chilling process. You'll be getting rid of the water and ice in any case
This is a fantastically detailed video! It helps justify why good cocktails bad are so expensive - just look at the effort, skill and strategy that goes into each cocktail!
I think the fact that it is a demonstration of how to make the drink, with history, rathe than making it in a bar should be taken into consideration sir... it is of course one of the fastest of the classic cocktails to make.
I made this last night and me and the woman loved it -left us both feeling pleasantly pissed. Please post more cocktails with the history as well! I'd like to see long island ice tea, sex on the beach and marquritta. Cheers
Finally! Someone who actually knows how to make this drink correctly. Nice touch with the fine strainer ( I use a Julep Strainer and pour from Glass.) Also, I shake HARD for only 5 seconds, never thought of shaking longer...gotta try it your way and see if it's better. Nice Video. Thank you for making it.
have to agree with angusw there. if one is a good bartender and feels his/her free pouring is off by even 1 or 2mLs, one should jigger. could be the hangover, too much coffee/red bull etc that throws it off. care abt the drinks you serve. and if going into a competition, always jigger. judges respect the care.
I would like to reccommend to you Charles Baker's Gentleman's Companion books-there are two sets, one the gentleman' companion proper has two volumes, one of international cuisine of the 1920's-1940's and the other set is the south american gentleman's companion also two volumes one of cuisine and the other of libations.
that was my first exposure not only to pisco but also to other fine and sometimes rare drinks.
Great video I like the way you show it and it mostly covered with everything that another experienced bartender showed me.

Why do good mixologists make only 10 videos and then quit?
please come back Mr. Winchester

This was a lovely demonstration. One classy way of presenting yourself, your bar... and of course your drink
I specifically loved the history bit... I wish more bartenders would be having educated intellectual conversations like this as they make us drinks
I bartend and host parties only at my own home as a hobby so you can say I'm not on the professional side of the scale.
I am absolutely taking all those tips from you
Thank you for sharing and please continue posting.

a87fhj 11 months ago
@a87fhj I will answer you on your comments page as this is rather long lol
thekrakenism 11 months ago
depends
period of storage: 2-3 hours prior serving? freezers are good as alcohol wont freeze on you
how much will they drink? u always have to have extra on hand
how longs the party for?
with premixing I suggest a large punch bowl to serve
find if they only drink Daiquiri or if you have other options
for 12 ppl: better mix 2 bottles of rum (one extra on hand) with min. 12 fresh limes & 1 1/2 bottle syrup & 4-5 trays of ice
punch bowls work beautifully at buffets rather a home bar

What do you think about veering away from Cuban rums and utilising Carribean rums?
Also, what are your thoughts on using aged rums in a Daiquiri?
