  • Jesus never condoned sin. He offers pardon through his blood. Being an active homosexual is being a servant of sin and an unfortunate, inexpedient, and harmful condition. The Bible clearly condemns such a life style. Christians are not to tolerate homosexuality in the congregation. We are not commanded to hate them. By the way, Rick Warren is a CFR globalist and false pastor-a wolf in sheep's clothes.

  • Sooooooooooo you ARE intolerant of others. Oh you gays.

  • I'M BLACK I didnt vote for the president . I'm just amazed at how so many people of all races voted for this man. But the funny thing is a lot of people who did dont know what he stands for.Gay lesbian bisexual transgender etc etc just that whole thing is a joke whats next half bi ,1/3 gay with a splash of wicca oh and we follow Jesus too. Please there is only 1 truth Jesus and him crucified. When God said thou shall not he ment that he wanted you to things a certain way,Think!

  • That's the trouble: some of us do think. And when we do, we realize organizing our lives around the mistranslated ramblings of some ancient desert shepard tribe is probably NOT a good idea.

  • Did he just compare Obama to Jesus?..lol

  • We two American men in love for 33 years, and married in Canada six years ago, are awaiting a YouTube posting of the video of Bishop Robinson's invocation since we don't have HBO.

We pulled the plug on TV in 1980 when Reagan was elected, so we have no idea even what to buy :-)

We are grateful that President Obama has overcome his heterosexual-superiority complex enough to try to make amends for his discraceful decision to invite unChristlike "Rev." Warren to give his invocation Tuesday.

  • please do stay in Canada. Realize its an older posting, but the sentiment is still strong here in the U.S. (See recent Kennedy defection), same sex is doa in US.

  • openly gay bishop. Talk about an oxymoron.

  • You're right - closeted men of the cloth who deny their sexuality and preach "a cure for homosexuality" while at the same time visiting male prostitutes on the side **cough** Ted Haggard **cough** is more natural - I mean, isn't that what we are used to?

  • Has Rachel coloured her hair?

It has a more reddish tint than normal..

    looks good!

  • I am really confused. Obama stumped and said that he wanted to bring people together including people he didn't agree with. He is now doing just that and people are doing insane wondering what his problem is for not following the Democratic drumbeat.

  • So, you really think a good way to bring people together is to honor someone who compared members of your base to pedophiles and people who commit incest? It's about actions not words.

  • I am not doubting the ignorance of the views. I find the words to be detestable and vile. He has a right to his opinion, no matter how inane. Bush just saw his view from the prism and look where that got us. Obama isn't saying "I Agree with this guy" he's just simply letting the guy give a speech.

  • He's honoring the man with the opening invocation at his inauguration. He did it without thinking of the impact Warren's words had on the gay community. No one is preventing Warren from having an opinion or expressing it--but we don't have to silently let Obama dishonor us by honoring him. If yo don't understand that I don't know how else to explain it. And your first comment about the Democratic drumbeat was just silly--the man's words against gays and lesbians were vile.

  • I didn't get what she was trying to say at 1:33.

  • That it was pretty gay?

  • She was rightly mocking Warren's "men of consequence."

  • great show Rachel!

  • They should do what they want Warren to do... turn the other cheek and love their enemy.

  • I'm not sure who you mean by "they" but I don't want him to turn the other cheek, I want him to apologize for comparing gay marriage to pedophilia and incest and to not work against human rights.

  • That's what I meant by turning the other cheek and loving their enemy.

It's easy to judge the extreme cases of bigotry. What we should be asking ourselves is how can we communicate and connect to the people that could go either way.

  • I still don't get your point. The gay community has always turned the other cheek and slunk away when leaders like Bill Clinton threw us under the bus. I don't think we should sever our ties with Obama but I also think we should let our displeasure with Warren be known--but I don't think that is turning the other cheek. Maybe I don't understand what the phrase means to you.

  • What about loving your enemy? That seems pretty clear to me. Love can mean a lot of different things. Perhaps you should ask for clarification on that...

Turning the other cheek would probably be the first thing, followed by a realization he was wrong.

You ignored an important part of my statement. To imply that all I said was "turn the other cheek" is only an attempt to change the context of my statement.

  • Rick Warren isn't my enemy, I don't even know him. He's going to give this speech no matter what we say--but we don't have to just shut up about it. Your condescending tone aside, I don't know Rick Warren but he did compare my relationship to pedophilia so that causes some consternation. We in the GLBT community have been turning the other cheek for a long time--it doesn't work--as often as not turning the other cheek gets the other cheek slapped as well.

  • It's good that despite that fact that he "compares gay marriage to pedophilia and incest and works against human rights" that he is still not your enemy. That was basically my point. We cannot lose our humanity in the struggle to find justice.

Just to clarify... To me, turning the other cheek and loving your enemy basically means taking the high road. Standing defiant in the face of bigotry. Making decisions with clarity and compassion not hatred and anger.

  • That's what gays and lesbians are doing--standing strong in the face of bigotry. Your first post said seemed to say that gays and lesbians wanted Warren to "turn the other cheek" and I don't think that's what we want--we'd like an apology (he's claiming he didn't say it despite the video), we'd like him to come out in favor of gay marriage (we don't expect it though), Warren turning the other cheek isn't in the top 10. This is why I find it hard to deal with people with a religious bent.

  • Once again you are changing the context of my statement.

  • My God. You're still posting?

  • My thoughts exactly. How many times can you shoot a dead dog Mr Fork? XD

  • Maybe this will help; "turn the other cheek" likely meant to take a look from tha different view. If you "turn your cheek", what you see changes. In that respect, Rick Warren turning the other cheek might mean to have him take a look gay issues from a different perspective, maybe even from the homosexual perspective. Or maybe from God's persepctive, which would make him more inclined to love and accept us as we are -God's children equal to him.

  • I don't believe that's how the original Bible passage is meant, but it sounds good. It's also why I don't like Bible cliches.

  • Personally, i would suspect that Obama is simply biding his time until he gets into power, so as to keep the republicans from being too pissy about it until they are no longer an issue. I hope anyway.

  • Creepy.
