I watched 'journey to the west' since i was a kid, and now i'm an adult, i still watched him. Just his voice brings back tons of memories. His show was introduced to me by my grandpa, now he's gone but I felt much better after watching this actor. Liu Xiao Ling Tong, if you are reading this, just want to tell you, YOU ARE THE BEST MONKEY KING EVER!! NO BODY CAN REPLACE YOU!! Thanks!
omg! i was 8 when the journey to the west series was on. the monkey king actor was what 30 at the time? now i'm 30.. he must be at least 50? liu xiao ling tong was the original and the best! ^^
@humblebusker hehe even now, I still like his sun wukong very much. i am living in south east asia. It was shown on local tv channel. Now they are airing the new journey to the west. Wukong was played by an actor called Wu Yue. Even the special effects are great, most of the time, I was thinking the old version is better. liu xiao ling tong really got sun wu kong character correct. Don't think anyone can topple him off the throne.

He's old, so what? Sure he can't do as much moves as he used to, but not like he doesn't know how. We shouldn't let a physical limitation caused by aging and judge him. He's the best monkey king out there!
Hi name is above - Lui Xiao Ling Tong. His family goes back generations playing Monkey King characters. I was able to contact him to say "thanks" once. And he wrote back - all in Mandarin; had to have my friends from Taiwan translate. He is truly great as Sun Wukong. Dicky Cheung was also terrific and very funny in the TV series. (I think it was the 2nd tv series.) I can't get enough of The Monkey King!
