And I haven't been on the east coast before, but with the shape of the ski and the rocker makes in super easy to go through all that tough crud. I love the Halo's they are a bit softer then the Alpha 1 and are more playful for me. But if you choose to get a bit of a stiffer ski like the Alpha 1 you will still not be disappointed at all.
