  • THE TRUTH: Getting rid of LIFO has more to do with MONEY!

They want to fire all the old, EXPENSIVE veteran teachers and hire new, CHEAP inexperienced teachers!

Ironically, the only people making money in education are ADMINISTRATORS, EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANTS, TEXT-BOOK PUBLISHING COMPANIES.

  • Michelle Rhee is here for our children to be educated not to protect INCOMPETENT employees in the education system!

  • Also let me add in European countries, they don't educate everyone. You mess up once you go to trade school. Thats it. Got Down's Syndrome? Probably not going to go to school. In this country we have to educate everybody in the same track and they take the same test. Special needs, ADD,ADHD, etc so naturally our scores will be lower. Its a proven fact.

  • Well amen, this incompetent nut is gone!

  • I'd like to see a reality show where Michelle Rhee teaches Remedial Math at a junior high in the inner-city! 5 classes with 35 students each! 5 days a week for at least 3 months! Then, a panel of education experts can critique her teaching!

Arm-chair quarterback? Back-seat driver? Delusions of grandeur?

  • @MsJanetWood you do realize she did Teach For America right? And clearly you seem to be captivated by these videos seeing as how you have commented on nearly every video in this series. I am not always so fond of her tactics and insistence that teacher quality is a cut-and-dry matter, but you clearly are more interested in dishonest arguments rather than reasoned and measured criticism

  • @MsJanetWood I'd take this challenge......I'd go to class, give everyone and "A" and sit on my ass at the front of the class and discuss rap music and pop culture with the kids all day. I'd listen to my ipod and tell them to open their books and teach themselves. I'd let the camera watch me get a nice check every month for doing absolutley nothing and I'd let the cameras watch me spend the money and laugh at the people who would try to get me fired for incompetence but absolutely COULDN"T!!!ha!

  • I'd openly say "screw these kids, I hate black children AND black culture and I'm going to not teach them so that I can do my part to ensure their failure and the failure of their larger communities...." and I'd laugh into the camera at the petty attempts to get me fired and I'd moon them with "tenure" written on my ass.....

***Given the results of D.C. schools, I'm not convinced that these things aren't already goin on OFF camera. These attitudes maare bad, but the results are the same

  • Michelle asks people to simply produce the results to merit their tenure and all the teachers can do is holler about thier union. they don't care about the kids and never did or it never would've come to this

  • @theherdmentality Michelle Rhee doesn't care about kids either. All she cares about is the numbers shes said it in these videos before. Its more than a numbers game. Its about teaching children to be smart, and productive not necessarily meeting a number pulled from someone's ass.

  • @itsjustme2919 Michelle Rhee cares more than these teachers who are passing children along who can't even read by the time they graduate. WOuld you EVER want to work somewhere where you worked hard and the person next to you filed thier nails all day and you both got the same pay rate and could NEVER be fired? what kind of work environment do you think that woulod lead to, what would it do to the morale of the workers to know they could be awful and never be fired? Michelle Rhee is a genius.

  • @theherdmentality Lets run this scenario. Your student fails the 7th grade. You fail them. Now, you have an angry parent on the phone petitioning the state to take away your teaching license because their kid missed 38 days of school in a school year. This is what happens. In the end, its easier to just pass them along because you get backlash. The parent wins, and I have to say we have pretty shitty parents in this country. Lets address THAT issue first!

  • @itsjustme2919 Have you read nothing else I've posted about this video??? ALL of my other posts are about addresing the cultural issue, specifically the black culutral issue that glorifies ignorance, bad behavior and a lack of responsibility....that is EXACTLY where this conversation needs to go, more than the teachers, but the its goign to be easier to change hte teachers than it will be to stop an entire culture from heading off a cliff. we are not indisagreement on that point.

  • @theherdmentality Im not saying there aren't bad teachers, but its also the students job to WANT to do better. I got A's because I wanted them. Also because I face punishment at home if I didn't have them. I know a woman right now who said to me "my kids are so retarded it pisses me off, they are failing big time". Really? Then its your job as a parent to sit down and make sure the homework is done, the grades are in and that they are progressing. Just as much as the teachers.

  • @theherdmentality "Michelle Rhee cares more than these teachers who are passing children along who can't even read by the time they graduate." Not true. In one of these videos (not sure which one in the series) she is stated as saying something to the effect of "I can't say they are ready for college, but (big grin) we met our state numbers". Which is why I said its not about education its a numbers game in the first place. In turn it progress her career and screws the kids over in the end.

  • black culture is the true problem. black kids should not have to have it imposed on them to work hard, not steal and not be a menace to society. this should be built into their culture and come from their parents. black culture glorifies a lack of education, violence, promiscuity, etc. and that's the REAL problem that no one is talking about

  • @theherdmentality I don't know you but your comment sounds racist to me at least...

  • @shutuprafa pointing out problems specific and prolific to the black community which are the true root of the mis-education problem isn't racist, it's pointing out the trutth that people are afraid to talk about...

you can call me a racist, but that's only avoiding the true argument......

it's like if i say "2+2=4" and you reply is, "well, i don't like your hair"

if you want to refute what I said, go ahead, otherwise you've said nothing

  • @theherdmentality you're right on the point that I'm not directly responding to what you said. If you want some direct criticism, low achievement levels are seen among hispanics as well as blacks, so I don't think academic underachievement is primarily b/c of factors that solely exist in the black community. If you look at the best empirical work on these issues (Hanushek, Duflo, Urquiola, etc), the biggest change that can be made to improve education is to improve teacher quality

  • @shutuprafa agreed, we need to improve teacher quality, but emerging statistics show that the highest achieving blacks in america are actually people who came to america after being born and educated in africa and the carribbean....those places dont' have the best schools or teachers, but they do have an overall cultural understanding that the ONLY way to improve your life is by getting a good education yourself no matter the quality of your surroundings or lack of cultural moral development

  • @shutuprafa I've never heard of Jews or Asians having a major problem with trying to convince their youth to become educated and personally responsible for their own future and morality....and why is that? it's built into their culture....black culture is such an impediment because it is the exact opposite...the youth can't be convinced that education will improve their lives and personal responsibility is shunned in favor of big-government handouts designed to decrease self-sufficeincy

  • @theherdmentality if we're gonna be stereotyping/generalizing, Jews and Asians also tend to be of higher socioeconomic status than blacks and Hispanics...you seem more keen on being a contrarian than actually looking at the majority of the empirical evidence. and stop using loaded words to further your argument (i.e. "big-government handouts")

  • @shutuprafa I'll use whatever words I want, whether they offend you or are beyond your understanding, or not. Once again, stop attacking me and my "words" and pick an argument....

This is mine: "Black culture and it's lack of endorsement for education and personal responsibility, is the biggest impediment to improving black education NOT funding, teachers, unions (etc.)"....

Teachers Unions should be dissolved. Teacher Quality needs improvement. More money doesn't equal better schools.

  • @shutuprafa And no, Asians in California are actuallly among America's poorest, yet highest achieving, While the richest blacks in America (in D.C.) have some of the lowest test scores in the country.....again, i'm pointing out problems with the black culture that make it impossible for it's youth to achieve great things despite money, socioeconomic status, age, religion, etc., etc. etc.,

  • Unions are no more righteous than any other institution. They are simply advocating for their own sake, rasing salaries regardless of performance of their fellow peers, advocating for higher benefits regardless of what it means to D.C.'s operating budget.

There are checks & balances: unions provide for one, Superintendent Rhee provides another, the D.C. city council provides one, Mayor Fenty and the parents provide one as well. No one party is truly righteous in this situation.

  • a lot of leaders were not appreciated in their time by their peers. KEEP IT UP MICHELLE!
