  • that fan is a little low

  • It is sad to see so many people are misguided by this crap. Take a look at the comments. A friend of mine did BJJ for 15 years under the gracies. He got the shit kicked out of him against 3 attackers. He tried to take all 3 attackers to the floor.

  • @slouttop Yeah that doesnt make BJJ bad it just makes your friend stupid, obviously you can take three guys to the ground and beat them. But even if you did a standing striking martial your chances against 3 guys are pretty slim. I agree 100% BJJ sucks against multiple opponents but against 1 its pretty damn effective. Also, if all you did was a striking martial art and one of those 3 guys tackled you to the ground how the fuck are you gonna get up, your gonna want BJJ now.

  • @reallyletsdoit sorry spelling correction *cant*

  • @slouttop I agree with Reallylestdoit, your friend was foolish thinking he could take on 3 attackers with BJJ. But the truth is contrary to what you see in Kung Fu flicks, its very difficult for any one person regardless of what style they train or their level of skill in that style to take on more than one opponent. EVERY martial art style has its short comings. And if you train for self-defense, its important to understand what they are and how to compensate for them.

  • So why not strike him to the groin . Once again this BJJ is only a sport and not really a martial art. Noticed the guy is on the floor and he accompanies his and goes to the floor with him. A pathetic position to be in with multiple attckers.

  • I wish my last name was gracie

  • This seems like a pretty risky technique. Aren't they concerned about being kicked in the groin? Once they move into the technique, they hold down the knee to block this, but the initial entry seems to be courting disaster.

  • @paco75082 When you enter with your knee into the guard with your hips forward, you're basically killing the angle for him to kick you in the gonads, and the kick won't have much power anyways

  • Ah, I cant go back to that mat after the horrifying day where a man was picked up too high and decapitated by that turbine engine fan on the ceiling :(

  • These guys are on blow.

  • Perfection at it's best!

  • Woot Woot! 0 dislikes! :DD

  • How many stripes do these black belts have? Wow.

  • great quality JJ

  • They are so fluid even in a simple scenario like this.

  • What prevents the person on the bottom from obtaining half guard?

  • @ownag3r their leg is being pressed down against the mat, so they cant hook their legs togeather

  • @ownag3r the fact that the opponent is standing; if they on their knees half guard would be used for sweeps but since their standing its best to get hooks in behind leg and/or block the hips

  • @ownag3r Shh dont ask questions, this is perfect jiujitsu if done correctly

  • @OffspringFTW65 No doubt my inquiry is the result of my ignorance, not the credibility of the technique. lol. :)

  • i was at my first grappling class last night against more experienced guys.

i got mounted and used my 1st lesson off gracie university and i sweeped him lol :)

    seriously these guys are amazing.

  • Wow that dude has nuff white stripes on his black belt.

  • nice pass

  • you guys are the best! love your vids!! :)

  • My favorite open guard pass...:) Another variation is to grab the oponents lapel with the hand that insn't under his arm - in the case of the video, the left hand goes to the lapel and force to the floor avoiding the oponent to get up... Wonderful guard pass...

  • I'm sure Gracie's grandsons can make it work against experienced fighters, but I just wish there was a trick to pass it when he's holding your sleeves. What I mean is, when after a throw, he's in the open guard, and you are standing, it works great. But when you have opened his cloded or halfguard, and then he goes in to the open guard defence, at the same time you are standing up, he can grab your sleeves. And then this technique is more difficult. I have tried it many times during sparring.

  • @crits1458 then you get into grip fighting, cobrinha has a couple cool techniques for that

  • Well it works great against lower belts. But when there is somebody with a good open guard i can't pass it, especially when they are holding your sleeves.

  • great teaching technique!

  • 0:47 Tomahawk sweep!

  • lol don't knee the person in the groin...that will be great in real life.

  • Are they those kids walking in the front of Gracie train in the early UFC?!!

  • that mat is huge

  • The Dynamic Duo of JJ instruction! Nice technical demonstration. Thanks bros!

  • thank you for this tech. added to my fav

  • Keep 'em comin'!

  • I rolled with robin gracie on a seminar (search for "jörg vs robin gracie" on youtube) and it was awesome! I love the gracies! :-)

  • this is where i'm running into a lot of problems right now... especially if the guy has double sleeve control or controlling the ankle like a de la riva. I wonder if they could show one where the guy on bottom has 2 grips.

  • if the guy has a double sleeve control or a dlr hook you have to clear those before you do anything else. you can't pass without clearing those roadblocks.

  • thats why a lot of people put the knee on the stomach instead of what ryron is doing. its kind of deaming that someone like ryron has about 5 stripes when even his elder cousins dont have that many

  • the top and bottom stripes on the red sleeve aren't degrees on their belts. having the stripe on the top and bottom just means that you are officially an instructor. you have to count the stripes between the top and bottom to figure out what their rank is.

  • if u let the person hook your leg in a street fight they might kick your groin

  • That doesn't become a problem if you keep your hand on the guy's knee

  • I agree these guys make it so simple to pick up.I'd give any thing to train under them.

  • Ryron and Rener Gracie are really great teachers

  • Making the hard simple once again.

  • just love gracie jiu jitsu

  • great video
