This is starting to hit big in my area of southeastern ohio. These gas companies are greedy bastards but they are smart. The people who sell to them are also greedy bastards. What? whatever company set up their must not be the same one here in bradford county because up here the are much more organized and clean. They have a 5 or 6 acre pad and they stay on it, nothing else gets tore up except for the road into it. Have 2 wells fracted less than half mile from home no problem with water. Most of the people that are complaining are flatlanders and people with no acres. I also agree with @GasOil85 having gas wells in PA is opening hundreds of jobs

People need to understand the benefits of drilling for natural gas. The way i know is when you graduate from school they give you a road map out of this state because there is NO MONEY and NO JOBS but because of Marcellus Shale we have opened a new door to PA and we should take the saftey that we need to take to keep this state beautiful but still let PA benefit from what this can do for us.The ppl complaining are the ones not making money from this industry.There are pros and cons to everything

If you're approached by these companies, ask questions. Who's their boss and his/her boss. Get solid contact information for all. Ask for references. Contact and visit every reference to see what the oil companies did. Learn from their experience. Then get details on the development plans for your land. Do baseline testing on water and soil using PLAP certified lab before signing a lease. Baselines can be used show contamination has happened. Protect you, your family and the land.

It is to the point now that if you dont sign, they move in anyway if you dont own the mineral rights. So you might as well sign and get somthing out of it. It is very sad. They are killing one of the best bass lakes in the state, Cross Creek Lake.

@mjkwyo Let me send you a gallon of water from a farm with one of these wells on it. If the chemicals they use gets in your drinking water you die slowly. It shuts down your organs. Another will kill you if it gets on your skin same resaults. The Chemical is Zeta-Flow. It is a sceret chemical, you cant get the data on it. It is made by Halaburton.

many landwowners dont know that their neighbors can sue them for damage done to adjoining properties. This is the problame with Gold/gas fever. People had dollars signs in thier eyes and could see nothing else.

Can anyone tell me if any of these landowners had a Lawyer write up papers representing THEM PRIOR to signing these Leases? I have been approached myself and DID NOT sign. Does it make a difference IF you get a Lawyer, are these Home owner expereinces any better --that is my question?

@OverRunWithSons My In-Laws signed one lease and they came back 3 months later with one they didnt sign but had their signatures on it, for less money. Go figure.
