  • @SeansOGR no haha you know how much o gauge is? It's a joke.

  • what did you use to ballast your track?

i am starting off a new layout and im going to be using gargraves flex track and im going to need to ballast it with somthing.

  • @puzzler19 I use Brennon's Better Ballast. Do a google search for it.

  • @esiegel76 thanks man. waiting for the new layout update. great job. i think ill be using a lot of foam for my landscaping just because im in highschool and dont have lots of time to use hardshell. ill probably use ur method for making rocks tho. nice vids keep it up!

  • Hey will you watch and VOTE on which layout I should use next it will be my top video on the list.

  • It's fine

  • Would you be willing to give away a train? Because I'm interested in your Norfolk southern diesel.

  • @drumkid330 Sorry, I'm not giving away any trains.

  • @drumkid330 are you really asking that?

  • its pretty amazing

  • about how much did this layout cost?

  • Wow! That is quite a layout! Thanks for sharing.

  • Can u run a bigboy on that layout

  • 1:26 ...cat...

  • May I ask the type of track and switches you are using? Just beginning my layout, and am undecided between Atlas O, or Gargraves.

  • @trainmastertubbs Atlas track and switches. You can view more layout info at my website.

  • whats the height of your layout?

  • @SilverLakeRailroad The main level is 47 inches high. The 2nd level is 58 inches.

  • Scale or Gauge?

  • @phil56201 O-Scale

  • great video..please see mine

  • where can i get some tracks for a g-scale train? and where can i get some more engines? and cars?

  • @whinnymom1 This isn't a G-Scale layout, and I don't know a whole lot about G-Scale. Try a train store.

  • Cool ! When are you goin to run a main line into the kitchen so your wife can strap on a beer to a flatcar and send it downline to you?

  • Super layout Eric !! keep up the great job !! keep the videos coming !!

  • keep up the good work. BTW i love your determenation to keep on working on the layout although you dont like some things.

  • Great setup. Love your use of space. The trains ain't so bad either. Keep up the good work!

  • Nice collection man. Like your setup.

  • This is just to nice lol.

  • Fantastic layout, Eric!! I have watched all your updates and look forward to more as you continue to build on the layout.

I would like to add some generic looking tank cars to my collection and was wondering what the make and model numbers of those tank cars you have in that string in the first part of your vidio?

    Thanks.

  • Those are trinity tank cars made by Atlas.

  • WOW this thing is HUGE. I wish I had even 1/2 the room that you do. Imagine what you could accomplish with N scale, or HO.

  • nice layout

  • quick question. i want to buy a lionel legacy command unit but i want to run mth engines with it. can i just run the engines with the remote or do i need a second piece of equipment to operate the engines? thanks

  • You can't run MTH engines with the Legacy system. You would need to buy both systems.

  • very nice layout, but where is the layout? in a garage or in your house?

  • in the house.

  • you have a great layout! 5***

  • I have to say a great layout ,engines, cars and staff around. But i think there is one handycape...The third rail..

why lionel, mth will not take the point to point electric system of Mäerklin M-Track that looks much better.....you can,t see the middle elec. line. Maby they don,t now it...somebody must communicate that idea to MTH.Thanks for share this video with us.Merry Christmas Pete

  • Hey can you do a video of some of your trains in action?

  • you put some serious thought into this layout. it looks like it will be awesome in the end but a lot of work. brilliant. :)

  • why is there smaller holes in the wall too.

  • The smaller hole was a mistake.

  • Although I work in N scale, you've still provded me with plenty of inspiration for my own model railrod project. Thank you.

  • where did you get the csx train that was in the yard and can you get bnsf ones. loved the vid+trains

  • That's an MTH 20-2375-1 CSX SD70M that I got at a train store here in Atlanta. They didn't make a BNSF version when they made those, but they have since made BNSF SD70's. I would try to get a more recent BNSF SD70 as the newer ones have more detail, better sounds and more pickup rollers. Try something like MTH's 20-2620-1 model.

  • sweet!

  • dang man. sweet set up. i wish i had that much room and money to buld something like that. i would like live in that room if i had something like that.

    very nice. =D

  • you scare me when you say hi, i thought you would say "hi i am john from expert village" LOL :)

  • What is the radius of the loops around the yard?

  • nice

    work man

do a video of a tour of a train riding the tracks

  • I already did.

  • aww wish i lived in that place!

  • Comment removed

  • Hey nice layout im starting mine too. its not going to be as big im starting with a 5 by 12 table i already have the MTH southern pacific set im mainly using all mth i wanted to see is there any advice you could give me on starting my layout

  • 0;09 Was That The Wisconsin & Southern We Support Are Troops Boxcar?

  • That's an MTH car that they put out in 2006. The model number is 20-93302.

  • Could you do a video of a train running through all the rooms in 3rd person? That would be awesome! Nice!

  • I've already got a video of the train going through all the rooms, but it's from the point of view of the train. Do you want one that's from the point of view of someone watching the train?

  • Yah, that would be nice. Like the whole layout running at once like all the loops and the yard all operating at once. That would be killer/

  • or are you talking about maybe the camera on a flat car facing the train in front of the engine separated by a another flat car, could be really cool depending on the angle of the lenses.

  • where can you get the train gravel i am building mine and just wanted to know for the track

  • It says in the video, the ballast (gravel) is from Brennon's Better Ballast. Just google Brennan's Better Ballast.

  • imagine how large an n gauge line could be in that area

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • nice layout i have ho scale. i cant imagen what i could do with that kind of space

  • yea same here

  • please give a short video of how the turntable is wired i am having some ttrouble

  • It might be hard making a video of that since the turntable is already installed, but I will try. It's not very hard, though. There's basically 2 power connections. The first one powers the track on the turntable and the second powers the motor that turns the turntable.

  • do u need a shim for the turntable

  • Erick, do you think that four 75 watt MTH power supplies, would work out ok,on a smaller layout .Something like a 9 x 12 room. I see them for 15 dollars each + shipping, the 100 watt cost much more, what do you think, thanks Lou

  • For a 9x12 layout, that's 300 watts so my guess would be yes. Just divide the layout into 4 power districts and I would think you'd be ok.

  • is that ur ipod by the controllers?

  • Yes. There's another video on my youtube account that demonstrates how to play the ipod through an MTH engine.

  • Hi, your videos are giving me some great tips, but were is BELLA, I tried to save that one but the next day I wanted to show it to my wife but it was gone, can you put back on, thanks Lou

  • what brand of trains are they

  • Most of my train are made by MTH, but I've also got a lot of Lionel, Atlas and Weaver trains on the layout as well.

  • Thanks. It'll be a lot nicer once it's more complete. :)

  • nice! important to get trains running first before scenery, many people forget that. gotta love atlas!! check out my tour, its POV so u get to ride along=D

  • Im a hard core rivet counter 2 -railer. But i will give you props! nice job I can see your trying,so im not gonna bash you.

  • Right on. I would probably be a 2-Rail O-Scaler if I had it to do over again, but it's too late to change now. I'm basically going for 2-Rail realism but just with 3 rails. :)

  • I cant wait to see the secenry you gotta post a vid of it with all the scenery!

    5/5

  • Thanks. If I can get the backdrops installed in the next couple months, I will be able to start the scenery. Of course, it will take a few years to get the scenery all done....but I'll shoot a few videos along the way. ;)

  • Ok Thanks you gotta shoot me a youtube email when the vid does come out

    Happy Modeling!

    Nick : )

  • i dont like real trax cause of the clips and a new piece of track is a pain in the ass to break in. i like the scale trax though and fastrack. nice layout.

  • I'm not using realtrax. I use Atlas O track.

  • Many Your Lucky! With Those Rooms And Tables You Could Build A Huge Lego Train Layout!

  • How do you keep track of all the switches?

  • I have them programmed into my DCS remote so that I can control them. When the layout is complete I will have an indicator board and well as signals to tell me which way each switch is thrown.

  • ok thank you, because ive been using the classic cheap-o 3 rail stuff and well its really starting to make me mad, recently ive been thinking of somehow saving up my limited funds and switching to a better more reliable track type and it seem like you like atlas-o, so ive been looking into it.

  • Atlas track is nice, but it's not cheap. Gargraves is good too. Of course, some people swear by Lionel's Fast Track or MTH's RealTrax. It's all just a matter of opinion. I like Atlas because I think it's more prototypical than others. But that's just my opinion.

  • what size switches did you use for your yard, o-60,63?

  • All switches in the yard are O-72.

  • WOW! That's going to be an incredible layout! Nice work! 5*****

  • So will you install some cameras or some kind of CCTV system so you can keep an eye on things in the other rooms?

  • I may install some cameras in tunnels and so forth to keep on eye on things, yes.

  • Wow a lot of work. I know the feeling. Go to mine eal1011 take a look. Took me 7 months to finish it.

  • great tour... cheers

  • That is fantastic.

  • ill say, model trains are a great money pit, but a heck of a fun hobby. i got my first o-gauge/scale Santa fe diesel loco. passenger set w/proto sound 2.0, and it is a blast so far. im working on a train room, and then, ill get it so its nice enough, and then ill show it to people for free!

  • again great layout but about how much money have you put into the layout and how much more do you plan to spend

  • grat layout keep posting videos because i cant wait to see the finished product

  • i hav the same track as u. Atlas O Nickel Silver track with no roadbed!!! not vry exiting is it. nice video. im finishing my layout and will hav a video on it soon.

  • I am also experienced Railroad building Will send video this month to show you. I love building one next year willl tear down and make a bigger one HUGE HUGE one. Good luck I love your projects.

  • This layout reminds me of when I wus a kid playing with my uncles layout. Good luck and I can't wait until i see more. Also, nice cat. When mine decides to sleep on the tracks, i practically have to shoot him off.

  • Yeah, it's loads of fun.

  • Oh, cats and model trains...

I have a friend who has an HO layout, and he spends over an hour each week cleaning out his locomotives because the motors are gummed up with cat fur.

  • I use laser level to get it straight. I haven't had many problems with the Atlas switches. I think a few years ago their switches had some issues, but those issues have since been corrected. Of course, they're not perfect, but I haven't had any major problems and I'm happy with them. I've only got 1 of the Lionel Railbox cars. The others are Weaver Railbox cars. What model number is the Lionel Railbox car that you have, and what road number is it?

  • to get track perfectly straight, I use my laser level...

  • As do I.

  • Very Nice

  • UAU!!!

    Layout Fantástico!!!

Você tem muita coragem, para enfrentar este trabalho todo.

    Parabéns!

Eu demorei 4 anos para montar o meu layout com trens da Lionel Postwar, e ainda não acabei...

  • Thank you.

  • What a beautiful layout!

  • eric, you said you would have the wye inclosed inside a tunnel... in real life you would want to see all the activity in the wye, so you would not have to worry about collisions...

    just my opinion

  • That's very true and I would love to have it exposed, but I'm just not sure that I'm going to be able to do that due to other scenic and structural requirements in that area. If I can find a way to do it, I will.

  • Great Video For a Great Layout!!!!!!

  • thanks for sharing...great start..

check out some of ian rice's sketches

    of track designs...Steve

  • Very nice. Huge layout. Great work. Thanks for sharing.
