  • 3:02 time solo (pink floyd) mode on, notice time is from 1973 and this music is from 85

  • what in the hell is @wlangley88's problem with stevie? did he bone your mom back in the day or something? jimi was a master in my opinion so was stevie, both great musicians. get off jimis jimi

  • What happened to the end of the song????????????

  • Stevie we miss your voice, we miss your guitar.. we just miss you!

  • its my opinion that Stevie is a better guitar player than Jimi... but Jimi was just better at creatively... He was genius when it came to melody, rhythm, and metaphor's.

  • AMAZING!!

  • this is an awesome song. He had the talent and the soul.He outplayed Hendrix and then some. 'a true talent in all aspects.

  • @kitkat10ify Ha! Outplayed? Nigga Please!!!! SRV is a fucking JIMI cover artist. Fuck you for the gall of your statement....

  • @RacerEckss

Come on dude....trying to tell someone they're wrong while calling them a "Nigga"...you make me and the rest of the world lol at your statement.

  • @RacerEckss Jimi covered Bob Dylan...........what's your point?

  • @wlangley88 SRV bit Jimi's style, with mediocrity, and said so himself. Jimi just borrowed a song or two, and did it justice musically and spiritually. Only thing Stevie had a spirit for was cocaine in his coffee.....Like good fucking coffee needs any help. Just like his coffee, he's an also ran. A flash in the pan.

  • @kitkat10ify Different generations. different genres. It has nothing to do with who's better or who's best.

  • Love love love. You always knew how I was and how I was feeling. Hope there is a heaven and that we could be friends there in that place.

  • srv we all miss you

  • Well hello baby - second guessing every minute - alarmed if in the mirror...we come face to face - wishing all the love we took for granted, Lord we had today.

I love this song but this version is missing a bunch.

  • I have just found Stevie and feel in love. xoxoxoxox

  • Happy Birthday Stevie!

  • @ArpeggioFelatio totally agree with you on"the day" is the right lyrics. The is every where I look for the song. The lyrics say that & besides that is also on the inside cover of SRV album

  • My uncle's biggest inspiration for guitar was Stevie Ray Vaughan. May he and Stevie both Rest In Peace

  • I sand this song at my Grandfather's funeral.

  • almost cried first time i heard this song....so beautiful. Rest In Peace Stevie, man you were a living legend, taken too soon.

  • yeah............

  • The line is not the day is necessary....... Its death is necessary every now and then. Thats why this song is so great . its like he was giving us something to sing to him afyer he left us so early. Love you Stevie ! You touched my heart and soul.

  • So amazing. My fav guitarist of all time. Thumbs up if you also love SRV

  • piano sounds like final fantisy

  • great song......R.I.P. SRV.......sadly missed still to this day

  • Holy fuck this song is beautiful.

  • Isn't it 'death is necessary every now & then'?

  • The beginning sound something like Final Fantasy would make =P

  • Life without Stevie. :/

  • Such an amazing, amazing musician. He didn't even die of an overdose! He's everything any guitarist could inspire to be, including me. R.I.P.

  • @pantscrapper12 well no shit! he died in a helicopter crash, if anyone thinks he died of a drug overdose just smack em

  • i think it says well hello baby...

  • to my auntie Victoria Benally , Rip,2005. I miss you

  • why did he have to die?

  • Left us WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too soon

  • Man, John Mayer really stole this for Gravity. Susch a shame.

  • @TheUnderdogComplex86 Man, I've been thinkin the same thing for months! Both songs are really good though! Anyway, I'm surprised nobody else noticed the differences!

  • @TheUnderdogComplex86 STFU. John Mayer has SRV tattoo-ed on him. If he borrowed any little thing from this song, it was done to honor him.

  • @dawgyv72 Which tattoo is that??

  • @TheUnderdogComplex86 haha no dude john mayer did not steal anything from srv. Just because the intro sounds slightly familiar doesn't mean he stole it. compare them, they are different.

  • This song makes me want to cry, but then the heavenly sounds of SRV's guitar slaps me in the face and tells me to quit being such a damn sissy.

  • MARK HAINES 1946-2011

    BEST of the BEST

  • Miss you SRV!!!!

  • so relaxing, puts me in the summer/spring sunset mood

  • Love this song, it has a special place in my heart!!!

  • Love this song his guitar work is stellar as always

  • fuck you, Troy!

  • Fuck sleep, I'd rather stay up all night and listen to this!

  • I love it AEB lol, I have said the same things since I was in hs about what my kids are going to hopefully listen to. I love blues / classic rock and have been playing guitar now for 17 years, all the same stuff. I do so hope my kids don't listen to like ICP or some crap lol!!!

On an interesting note, I have branched a little, listening to outlaw country and leanred a Megadeth song, "Addicted To chaos". If anyone is a guitar player, might try it out, very cool stuff....

  • @mystinger72 no kidding.... rap, hip hop, techno, all that is not music.... there aint much skill in selecting the music you want in the background.... keep playing and if you dnt want them listening to it do what my dad did... teach them how to play before they even get exposed to it.... stuff like thin lizzy, and U2, and a variety really helps... Clapton to floyd... haha good luck and tell them im only 19

  • this song hit me hardest when i saw a video of him talking after beating his addictions. you could feel ever note pour out of him and it hits you with such an intensity.

  • I lost my best friend to cancer a month ago and I play this almost every day for HER!

  • The most underrated song ever... :o Simply EPIC! Can't think of any reason why this song isn't at least in one of those "Best Rock/Blues Ballades" compilations...

  • Happy Birthday Daddy. I love you and miss you so much.

  • i miss stevie!!! such a great musican and man! the world lost an angel when he died...so traggic! just to show, love life like like he did because you never know what might happen tomorrow! life is a blessing live everyday like its your last....god bless stevie ray vaughan 54 to 90...36 years of life unlimted!!!!!

  • life without Stevie would suck.

  • proud to have grown up and listen to his music as a kid when my dad would tell me to listen to him jam! love me some stevie ray!

  • @goldenchildtyptcb

As am I my friend. My Dad is a HUGE SRV fan (me too). I've grown up listening to him and admiring all his greatness. My most cherished memories from my childhood are driving along with my Dad, listening to all his albums and just talking guitar and how great of a musician SRV was.

  • R.I.P

  • I've gotta stop watching these videos...makes me more and more sad that he's gone.

  • Last summer I saw Robert Cray from the front row at a Blues Festival. I realized later that I came within feet of a man who played with Stevie on his very last song.

  • five philistines took the trouble to rate this.... why? how could you not love this???

  • Aaah Stevie...Why did you have to go so early? You must be playing in the heavens of space and time....I cried so many tears, like I never cried for anybody ever ...How many hours did I play with you, listen to your stuff, and try my best to get it right like you played it....I love your music and miss you being around so much...The Blues is the place to have ever known you and mourn your passing...Thanks for everything

  • Thanks for sharing...I love Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble!

  • I wish I appreciated the people that are not in my life anymore. I feel bad and I miss them.

  • This was the first song me and my ex danced too.

    It was an amazing night.

I miss him so much now </3

  • I LOVE STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN!!

  • Just read all the comments of people talking about what his song means to them and it really hits you

  • This song is such an experience, very few songs make me feel so many emotions. simply beautiful

  • with this song ia m fan of stevie ray, here in mexico is very difficult find music over her. but a few is excellent

  • I lost my dad on September 14, 2009 very suddenly to a massive heart attack, with no previous history of heart trouble. He was only 54. Today would've been his birthday and this is one of the many songs that remind me of him. He shared the music of SRV and many other great artists with me and because of him my musical tastes are widespread.

  • @antkritden dude dont make me cry nearly cry like that with a comment not kidding too you almost did lol. Sorry about your loss. =(

  • this is not the full version

  • Brought home my twin boys a few weeks ago.....can't wait to introduce them to Saint Stevie.

  • @aeb0068 hows that going are they liking it.

  • @aeb0068 What are you waiting for? Our Son was born VIA Water Birth, with Frank Zappa's "Watermelon In Easter Hay" playing in the background and we have been playing music with him and for him, everyday for the last three years. "Ben" loves Stevie and just fell asleep in my Wife's lap to this song, 11:40 pm Sunday Feb. 2011. Babies and Music are meant for each other, it makes them smarter, more articulate and if you play music for them, they wont wake up at every little sound that you make.

  • @aeb0068 Buy some guitars, since you're going to teach them what real music is!

  • @aeb0068 I've been seeing this comment for months whenever I return to this video. I still love it. Hope the kids are doing well.

  • This Song Is Beautiful

  • Rave on, Stevie, Rave on!!

  • Late the night after he died I stood .. just leaning out of my sliding glass door and had this blasting. I wept and wept and wept.. When the guitar solo played I swear I felt his presence and it imparted such an overwhelming sense of JOY-I have never felt anything like that in my life. I don't know what it was- but it gave me a peace about where he was-with God.. for I know he had a strong faith. Its just something I will never forget...we'll see you again Stevie..of that I have no doubt.

  • 20 years ago the radio announcer had said a helicopter carrying Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton had crashed. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Then about 20 mins later the announcer said Eric Clapton did not get on board but his band and Stevie Ray were gone, then played Life Without You....it was one of the worst days in music history as well as my life. 20 years later and Stevie Ray is still a GOD and missed more than ever. Thanks for the music Stevie, it still chokes me up today,RIP

  • 20 years..... seems like yesterday I was 10 years old sitting in the living room with my mom- just learning guitar, just discovered SRV - and they said on TV that he was gone. • It's about charlie, a close freind and guitar tech.

  • blues frigging awesome...the only way oh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • BEAUTIFUL. R.I.P. Stevie.

  • This is the greatest guitar player ever to live !!! Damn shame he died a tragic death.

  • SRV

  • this is just unparalleled emotion, so raw and so beautiful, r.i.p srv

please check out my cover version of this song, cheers

  • jimmy hendrix sucks compared to stevie ray vauhan rock on stevie!!!!!!!!!

  • is about himself and the bad situation that he passed with the drugs.

  • Who is this song about? Ive searched around but cant find the answer....

Anyone actually know? Please dont guess ..

  • @MacDrevi0us It's about a friend of him that passed away, His name was Charley Wirz, owner of Charley's guitars shop. The man died in 1985. It's not about drugs, although stevie would give a speech about how bad he had been with his addiction in the middle of the song when playing live (after 1986 once he had recovered and was clean).

  • some of the lyrics are missing. where he says something like: "the angels have waited for so long, now take your place.." and in the version that i have of this song, the solo is way longer.

  • acording to an older comment I read in this same video, after the last line in this song, when stevie said "life without you", he started crying and couldn't continue singing. This version is an outtake, not the studio one we all know.

    Very moving version in fact.

  • This song gets me everytime, Stevie was and still is the greatest blues guitarist. Nobody can quite match his tone, voice, and most of all, his emotion and burning passion for his artform and instrument. Stevie is proof that if there's a passion for something, don't let it slip away because you never know what you can achieve. Long live the greatly missed soul of blues and rock n roll, Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan, rest in peace brotha. Thanks for all the motivation

  • never seen any other man that was born more to play the guitar than this man. there are thousands of great guitar players alive and dead but only one greatest. this man right here

  • @thecrue777: " never seen any other man that was born more to play the guitar than this man." Actually yeah, his name was Jimi Hendrix.

  • God the loss of Stevie ray vaughan and all the other greats makes me not scared of death anymore I cant wait when I wake up next to a wall with a gate and I see Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan Jamming togather

  • I actually think, his most beautiful songs are those, where he balanced the guitar and the singing more equally. Like this one and Life By the Drop.

    His voice was amazing!

  • oh man, every now and then...

  • SRV YOU ARE MY HERO RIP, AMAZING

  • To all the SRV fans, I love everyone of you's simply for the fact we share such a beautiful thing in common. I was touched with stevies blues as you's have been and for that reason I can relate to every single one of you's. Thank you. You will never be forgotten Stephen Ray Vaughan

  • August 27, 1990, I was packed and ready to leave Chicago for my new life in San Diego. The night before I had gone to Legends, Buddy Guy's bar to see if Stevie and the others were going to jam after the show like they often did. Not that night. The next night, Stevie was lost. I unpacked my stereo and my records, and put this song on, and bawled my eyes out. Love you Stevie, and Life Without You just ain't the same.

  • @chitownbluesy fucking blouse hardin the fuck up

  • @chitownbluesy

they were supposed to be there. I was working that night at Alpine Valley, was backstage heading to the lodge to celebrate my birthday.. 3 helicopters were buzzing, waiting on the ground as the musicians from the evening piled indiscriminately into any one of them. Not 30 yards overhead, i could no longer see the helicopter's running lights. Only 37 years old. damn.

  • @chitownbluesy @chitownbluesy

  • @checkyourhead37 that must have sucked to been thinking what had happened and it been true.

  • I would have loved to attend a Stevie Ray Vaughn concert. Real passion here.

I am so pissed youtube got rid of all the cool SRV videos

  • My Dad passed away on September 6th. I chose this song for him-It says it all.

  • @Miztorif I have Gastric Cancer in Stage
