Hitler was a great vehicle for Germany when they were down and desperate, and the powers that were allowed Hitler to expand because it was in their interests too. It was the wall street crash in 1929 that brought hitler to power,at least a larger contributing factor, which I believe was down to the americans. Furthermore events such as the abysinnia crisis in 1935 and the manchurian crisis of 1931 which were made potent by the league of nations not having an army to stop the japanese and the italians which I again believe was down to Americans not joining in the league. @111axa1 From what I have read, the SU military were terribly equipped and that is one of the reasons the Germans were so successful immediately. The SU wanted peace, for the most part and certainly weren't preparing for war. The SU, like the rest of us, were totally unprepared for WW2. Our leaders, after WW1, decided that modern warfare was so bad, that they wouldn't fight wary anymore and disarmed.

@christo930 I will search for my source but it is true though. In many ways the soviets were poorly armed but the U.S did give them supplies. But they didnt trust the Germans and the Germans felt the same way about the S.U so the S.U did prepare for more of an offencive.

@111axa1 In August of 1939 the soviets and Germany signed the non-aggression pact and the SU was pretty happy with that. I agree with you that there was every reason for the soviets to be suspicious of Germany with all of Hitler's anti-communist rhetoric. The pact was lucrative to both sides since Germany got needed raw materials and the SU got manufactured goods. Hitler was a complete fool to open the second front.

Whoever posted this series, no matter what he says to hide his true identities, is a racist promoting hate. Unless this is your first time watching this movie, you can tell a lot of parts that show Hitler's negative side/history (such as weakness or him forcing himself onto his niece etc.) have been edited out in order to glorify him as much as possible. By the way, the real title of this movie is "Hitler: the Rise of Evil." There is no crap like "...or Greatness?" in the title.
