I'm no film critic, I can't even discuss this to depth because I haven't read the book yet, but I can say what I feel, what this movie does for me, and it does a lot. I've seen many vampire/dracula movies, this one has a special vibe, a unique charm to it, and I love it. In my eyes it's underrated. Too bad you, apparently, didn't enjoy it.. that's ok though ;)

The most commonly used American accent is Mid Western because it is the easiest one to impersonate and resembles that so-called monotonous sound. However, just as with English/British accents, American accents are hugely diverese in their sounds, pronouciation, and all around build. Southern is highly different from Northern accents. Even just from state to state--like New England for instance, none of those states sound the same.

I love acting!..but I love direction!! ever watch a film/ movie just to see the way things were put together and where the cuts in performance and film are made, not to mention the movement of cast on set, on a physical level? I also like Bram Stoker's addition of Countess Erzsébet Báthory (elizabeth!!) just for some history hehehe!

The English accent is romantic, poetic, sensual and charming. It is a delight to hear the accent in the original form spoken by it's creators.
The American accent is monotonous, charmless, Loud and grinding. with every sentence it sounds like a statement.
Studies have shown that the English accent is in waves of frequencies, shifting in and out of pitch adding depth to the words.
The American one is compressed to monotome.
That's why it's so easy for the English to impersinate yanks.

Loved Gary from the moment I saw him in this and then proceeded to watch him play in other films, each one he brings a legendary character and makes each role his alone, a brilliant actor but the body clocks ticking and he needs to get in touch real quick if he wants me to have his babies :D

Oldman is great but Winona sucks especially in this movie yet she always seemed to be really into herself like she thought seh was such an important actress. Oh well her career dropped anyway. And this was even before her shop lifting arrest. We've got better young actresses like Kate Winslet. During this time she was the only young actreses people could htink of to cast and she wasn't even good.
