Great tribute. May have missed a few, but we all have our favorites, right...
Big Duane Allman fan. Though he was already dead when Ramblin Man was written and recorded. Would recommend Whippin Post, Dreams, Statesboro Blues, or One Way Out for a 2nd cut (if it happens)
Eric Carr (Cancer), Johnny Ramone (Cancer), Dee Dee Ramone (Drug Overdose), John Entwistle (Drug Overdose), Tim Buckley (Drug Overdose), Jeff Buckley (Drowned), Cliff Burton(Crushed by falling bus)
Jeff Buckley should have been included. He drowned at the age of 30 when being caught in the wake of a passing boat on May 29th, 1997. And for the lyrics you could go with Hallelujah or a lyric from "So Real" with the lyric being "And I couldn't awake from the nightmare that pulled me under, pulled me under". There, have it sorted out for that one.
we could include Beatles (Stu Sutcliffe-brain hemorage due to attack, & George Harrison-cancer), Badfinger-Tom Evans-suicide, Alice in chains (Mike Starr-od,& lane Staley heroin od), Tammy Terrell aka Thomasina Montgomery-tumor in head due to beating, Berry Oakley-Allman Bros- motorcycle accident, Allen Woody (allman bros) heroin od, Eddie Cochran-auto accident, Marc Bolin-auto accident, Jackie Wilson-massive heart attack, John Entwistle-heart attack, amoung others that were not listed.
@levelup21 Cliff Burton although cool is extremely overrated. Him along with Dimebag Darrell have been mentioned in almost all these tribute vids. They don't need to be mentioned so often. Plus, they were just normal musicians and there deaths have just added to folklore that they are some kind of gods, which they are not. They were just musicians like all the others. They weren't THAT great.
@JoshSkywalker2142 Looks like many people wanted to see George Harrison in this. The age limit ended up being 55 for this video while George died at 58.
@KieranT878 the maker is a huge George Harrison fan but the emphasis was given to those who died at younger ages. George died at 58 which is old compared to those in the video.
@MusicbyBenjamin Orbison (52), Zappa (52), Garcia (53), Denver (53), & Shannon (55) rounded out the upper end of this list in terms of age. Those are middle-aged deaths for those who at least enjoyed a good chunk of life. Those who died in their 20's missed much more. Valens (17) didn't even get to become an adult.
@eeldeal That's what I'm trying to point out. But my point is that Del Shannon, John Denver, Roy Orbinson, & Jerry Garcia are pretty close to Harrison's age. O.K.?
@eeldeal well u shoulda put aaliyah one of the most important female artist and very talented then i woulda been happy. shes not rap. R N B rip aaliyah
@riv4life618 And although I absolutely hate when people compare MJ to the King, I must say if MJ's death was considered "over-medicated" then so should Elvis'. Or what it was officially labeled as initially "cardiac arrhythmia" or heart attack
@riv4life618 Those would be great additions. Perhaps another edition should be made called "55 Music Stars Who Left Early". Can you mention death-related snips of lyrics that go with the artists you listed?
@doentaskquestions Ray Peterson recorded that song as well but i think it is the Ritchie Valens version of "Tell Laura I Love Her" that's in this video.
@fachocreedence The song that goes with Tom Fogerty is still appropo since John has said the song was about rising tension within CCR and the imminent departure of his brother Tom from the band.
your bob marley is wrong bro, he died from a growth of somekind on his lips and did not believe in medicine. so he died it was curable but it was not cancer.
eeldeal is right cuz he broke his toe playing soccer and when it didnt heal they found out he had cancer. and he refused to get it amputated because of his religion
On this video, what songs were playing for Ritchie Valens, Sam Cooke, Brian Jones, John Lennon,Bob Marley, Karen Carpenter, Dennis Wilson, Marvin Gaye, Andy Gibb, Roy Orbison, Selena Perez, and John Denver
The video is in chronological order so The Rev would have to take over the last slot. It's much more fitting to have a megastar like Michael Jackson wrap it up.
Great tribute. May have missed a few, but we all have our favorites, right...
