Does anyone know if there is a way to take an audio track and convert it to midi?
I'm not sure if i'm using the correct terminology, but what I want to do is take a recording of my actual snare drum, and convert the hits from that into triggers for a virtual snare drum in logic.
anyone know what is going on with my logic pro? might sound stupid but, i took a voice sample from a song and cut it to the bit i wanted, i then moved it and copied it a few times but when i move it, it moves to a different place and even moves the other samples around too this is very frustraiting, i have tried restarting logic, even restarting my computer but nothing works HELP!
hey guys i want some sugestions for sth , look i want buy a midi keyboard for (progressive house and electronic music ) i am between akai mpk49 and m audio axiom 49 MKII , (i think i am going to use the logic studio , so witch one is the best ?
@MIKAELIAN14 I use the Axiom 61 MKI. It works incredibly well. the MKII is very similar, I believe it's just a layout change. I haven't used any akais, but the axiom does everything a keyboard is needed for.
@Tannerita I have the same question man and if you get an answer could you tell me as well? I am either going with logic,reason/record or pro tools... Maybe cubase but still not sure I am looking mainly at logic right now.
HI, COULD SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. WHEN I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN USING MIDI.(IF IM USING EITHER THE LAPTOP KEYBOARD OR A MIDI KEYBOARD) THE NOTES ARE SOUNDING A FRACTION LATE WHEN I LISTEN TO IT AFTER I RECORD THE SOUND. ITS FINE WHEN PLAYING, ONLY WHEN PLAYING BACK. IT WAS FINE AT FIRST BUT FOR SOME REASON THE SOUND IS A FRACTION OUT WHEN PLAYING BACK THE RECORDED SOUND. PLEASE PM ME. THANKS
In garageband i would record something (software instrument) then copy then paste it right next to the track i had just recorded and if it wasnt on time then i would go to the upper right corner and change the notes to 1/30 or something close to that and the i can manuelly move it around and always make it on time. in logic im trying to find out how to do that i found out how to change the notes but when i move the track around it still moves the same length help please!!!
you stupid is it writen here as how to wear clothes or how to make tutorial in LOGIc pro , you are so stupid man see the tutorial you click for not for the red cap , do you even have one you ?

Guys im a begginer in music production i know how to use garage band easily and im bored with it! I want to buy logic but im not sure if it is so easy what do u think?
If youre totally new to production you cant beat buying a Novation Launchpad. It comes with a special version of Ableton Live that has a load of samples and VSTs already in it. That will get you making beats and performing quicker than anything else i know of. I use Logic, Live, Reason / Record and lots of hardware so must also agree with Kintamaa - most people use more than one DAW or system.
@DJOrfaRulzz If you have run into a wall and pretty much done all you can do with Garageband I would say definitely get Logic. To me GarageBand is junior high and Logic is High School and College all wrapped in one. Also why go out and buy a different platform all together Logic is a continuation of Garageband as far as utilizing all of the Apple Loops and the Jam Packs. It is difficult but totally do-able and worth the investment. Just look for tutorials and read the manuals ya wont regret
Most pros use more than one DAW. Not one DAW is the absolute best. There are also going to be some things better in one DAW than another and that's why it's good to use a few. Not to mention VSTs either which is a whole other topic
Cubase is also very good...what the fuck, all speak from logic and ableton...whats about cubase? I Think cubase, ableton and logic are the 3 best musik step sequenzer...there is not a best....what you do is the thing, and not what the programm do...i saw people they done better things in fruity loops like some people try with cubase...so...dont ask so much..better try and learn software :)
I personally think its easier to use Ableton live. I have both Logic and live, but Live has a more friendly workflow and its easier to chop and move around audio files. I use Logic more for mastering and post-production purposes..
Agree, also i have to say that Fruity Loops has Fruity Slicer what is really useful to slice loops. it slice them and fit them on the bpm of the track. wish logic has that too. ah well i guess i stick at FL and Ableton live
Hey man I'm new with logic and i have version 7 but i do not know how create a freaking track?? it's all comfusing? I had pro tools before but my mac did not agree with it so i got rid of it.. any tips for a beginner??
FL Studio as a standalone program can be very limited (at times). But when incorporated with other DAW and audio programs, you can do some amazing things with it. Many inspiring producers have started out using FL Studio and Reason, but I guess somehow they felt the need to "upgrade" because they couldn't shake the negative stigma attached with using those programs.
wow this is really nice! great job dude!!!! one question for anyone ...i am a new logic user like 100% noob....uhh i would like to remix a song but you cant just throw ing a song from itunes into logic and separate the guitar from vocals...so does anyone know a website or place to idk download i guess logic "remakes" of songs so a logic person could take out the drums or guitar ...idk if u guys understand what i am saying but if you do could you personal message me.... thnx
you cant download remakes, sorry. what you can do however is get yourself a program that separates the tracks, save each track as a separate file and then import with logic.
wondering if anyone can answer this.. when you create a NEW PROJECT, and choose virtual instrument tracks... can you also record audio (vocals) or do you need to choose an empty project to do that?
All the responses to Mac vs. Windows here. The software is the same, but what the OS does with that audio is slightly different. If an audio interface utilizes Core Audio in Mac OS X it can process the audio much more efficiently resulting in a lower hit to the CPU. Windows always requires a driver of some sort, ASIO namely for music production.
You people are all wrong. With the exception of games, there is zero difference between Mac and Windows. They both run programs exactly the same. Multimedia programs are no easier or faster to use on a Mac than on a PC.
I personally am a Windows person because I've been trained in it and have been using it for over 10 years. And I am a pro FL Studio producer. FL Studio will not run on a stock Mac and installing Windows on a Mac is silly. Also, Mac's are definitely over priced.
FL Studio is probably the best music production programs around. It's flexibility with audio and MIDI is amazing. Setting up your digital workstation any way you wish, using any plugins or hardware you have, it's more than capable of producing professional music easily. Other programs all do this, but not as efficiently.
Don't be so quick to judge. Not everyone that uses FL Studio uses a cracked version to make half ass beats in two minutes...
sorry but no... I'm a producer and forget it... FL Studio is good for the first amount of tracks produced... But it is way too limited man... cmon FL is like a beginner's program...
that's why paul van dyk, tiesto and all the best of Ibiza and Berlin use Logic Pro instead of using your software? it's very funny, i agree matt78780 (this time). you say that because you never tried Logic 9, apple computers are the best stations to create (music, pics, video...), it's well known...
Hey..! I don't hate Macs u stupid....I love my Macbook Pro. I said; they are not the best for everything, ok? thats all. Comommm.. don't be so close minded, Mac doesn't have the answer to everything,ok? Other ways, why they bother to make windows version for macs? tell me: 5 good reasons.
Reason for Windows on Mac? At the initial time of development, Apple wanted to eliminate the hassle of using PCs at all. At the time, Super productions in Film audio were daisy chaining 3-4 PCs to run a sofware sampler GIGASTUDIO, while everything else was handled by the Mac. That was ridiculous.
It was just an extreme hassle to network/slave so many PCs, Some major companies like Sony and Gigastudio wouldn't switch prob for contractual reasons with windows.
High End Professional PCs average about the same price as Macs. Especially PCs with dual processors, etc. Mac doesn't have a comparable computer in the same price range as consumer grade PCs.
No really, Windows is that bad. I have been a computer geek/tech since 1992... Supporting Windows is simply awful. It's like being sentenced to repairing Yugos if you were a mechanic!
well keep an open mind on what OS is capable of though, mac don't game but are good for things like in the video, as of PC is good for gaming but doesn't have a strong point for more media software, and linux good servers all around and much mroe
What are you talking about! The Mac can run Boot Camp, which allows ANY Intel-based Mac to run Window$ natively on a Mac. Thus a Mac with Boot Camp and Windows WILL RUN ANY PC GAME!! Guess what, you could also run Windows in a Virtual Machine on a Intel Mac with little or no performance hit... Ch ch ch check it out!!
On the server front, PLEASE check out a demo version of OS X server! It is simply the easiest to set up and to get running and to maintain!!
Dontillman, I agree with you so much, plus a truly creative person doesn't need Windows and Mac, if you are really creative, you could go onto just about any program and make something wonderful. Besides, I much rather prefer Macs over PC's, less stressful.
PCs are only good for gaming because they have so many games... they have so many games because producers like to develop games for it... producers like to make games for PC because it's popular which will make their games sell better... they don't like porting their games to mac because it costs money and might not pay off well......
Ya... that's why most studios are switching to Apple computers with Mac OS X installed. If someone is really deperate they can run Boot Camp and install Windows also, but what would be the point? Pro Tools, Quark Xpress, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver, Premiere Pro, and After Effects are all Mac compatible!
That takes care of your music, design, and video. Why do you need both OS?
Yeah, all that softwares on Mac are great but will cost you a big fortune to buy only the programs and you will also need to invest on extras (very expensive), Upgades (all the time), and Training on how to use them.(photoshop, Premier Pro...etc)
So, thats is just too much to cope when you are a creative person and really you need to move fast.
Pc`s are so easy to use and can do almost the same job, in less than the half of time you need in a mac.
Wrong. All those programs cost exactly the same on Windows as for Mac, and that's coming from a Windows person. Moving fast and having creativity, you can do that on either OS. It's just which one you are most comfortable with.
PC's are just as easy to use as Mac and do the same job in the same amount of time, not any slower or faster. The only difference between the two is how fast they turn the computer on and off!
Garageband and Logic are only available on Mac....Logic used to be on PC but after ver. 5 they put a stop to that....Windows is the problem...Take MS Windows out of the picture, and I'll gladly switch from Mac....And don't say Linux because there's no Pro DAW software available for Linux...
to answer your question best thing to do is set up yout playlist in fl
use youre record button in the top of your screen
set it to wait 1 bar and then start flaying (it plays as one samle in your playslist (do this first before you comlete a song )otherwise you can lose your work
so i hope this is usefull and if you have more question bout fl send me an comment if you need annything else)
I have Logic. It comes with stock sounds for you to use right away. But I'd recommend getting additional sound packs as you will find the sounds are not very dynamic. But if you put time into editing them, it will be a hit!
dude, i was jus making a joke about the guys accent in the vid....who the hell doesnt kno wat locators are..lol. the guy cant pronounce his 'L's. also check out the beats on my page and call me an am.
I have several logic/sound production tutorials up, making about 3 a week, and about to add some mastering tutorials too, check them out. Unlike all expert village videos I actually explain the parameters and their purpose
I have Logic Pro 8, a Fender Strotocaster guitar, Digitech foot pedal. I am running my guitar into my (continued) pedal, and then my pedal is hooked straight into my computer. So, I think I have pretty good equipment, but what am I missing? Why doesn't it sound have as good as a real band, say Linkin Park? What other equipment do they have that I don't?
lol. Making stuff sound good doesn't mean you need shit loads of equipment. If you are using Logic/Cubase then you should have lot's of nice plugins that you can use to make your mixes sound good, i.e.: compression, distortion, EQ, reverb, delay, the list is endless, just do some research and some reading.
When I hook my mike up, it still records with my built-in mike. I have a external mike that I've been trying to hook up. Any tips? PLLEEEAAASSSEE HEELLPP MEEE

that's why paul van dyk, tiesto and all the best of Ibiza and Berlin use Logic Pro instead of using your software? it's very funny, i agree matt78780 (this time). you say that because you never tried Logic 9, apple computers are the best stations to create (music, pics, video...), it's well known...

Hey..! I don't hate Macs u stupid....I love my Macbook Pro. I said; they are not the best for everything, ok? thats all. Comommm.. don't be so close minded, Mac doesn't have the answer to everything,ok? Other ways, why they bother to make windows version for macs? tell me: 5 good reasons.
supersonicprods 2 years ago
@ Supersonicprods:
Reason for Windows on Mac? At the initial time of development, Apple wanted to eliminate the hassle of using PCs at all. At the time, Super productions in Film audio were daisy chaining 3-4 PCs to run a sofware sampler GIGASTUDIO, while everything else was handled by the Mac. That was ridiculous.
It was just an extreme hassle to network/slave so many PCs, Some major companies like Sony and Gigastudio wouldn't switch prob for contractual reasons with windows.
HiFiMachine 2 years ago
why is Mac and everything else to do with it much more expensive?
supersonicprods 2 years ago
High End Professional PCs average about the same price as Macs. Especially PCs with dual processors, etc. Mac doesn't have a comparable computer in the same price range as consumer grade PCs.

Because it doesn't crash

No really, Windows is that bad. I have been a computer geek/tech since 1992... Supporting Windows is simply awful. It's like being sentenced to repairing Yugos if you were a mechanic!
dontillman 2 years ago 2
well keep an open mind on what OS is capable of though, mac don't game but are good for things like in the video, as of PC is good for gaming but doesn't have a strong point for more media software, and linux good servers all around and much mroe
MrMcgreify 2 years ago
What are you talking about! The Mac can run Boot Camp, which allows ANY Intel-based Mac to run Window$ natively on a Mac. Thus a Mac with Boot Camp and Windows WILL RUN ANY PC GAME!! Guess what, you could also run Windows in a Virtual Machine on a Intel Mac with little or no performance hit... Ch ch ch check it out!!
On the server front, PLEASE check out a demo version of OS X server! It is simply the easiest to set up and to get running and to maintain!!
Best wishes,
Don

Dontillman, I agree with you so much, plus a truly creative person doesn't need Windows and Mac, if you are really creative, you could go onto just about any program and make something wonderful. Besides, I much rather prefer Macs over PC's, less stressful.
ParadiseProductions9 2 years ago
Exactly, finally someone who knows what they are talking about. I hate people who hate macs, unless that just their preference. MACS own!
Krondelo 2 years ago
PCs are only good for gaming because they have so many games... they have so many games because producers like to develop games for it... producers like to make games for PC because it's popular which will make their games sell better... they don't like porting their games to mac because it costs money and might not pay off well......

Macs are not the best computers ever..., sorry man
I`ve got both Mac and windows and if you are really open mind in Music, design and Video you wil need both.
So, think again.....
supersonicprods 2 years ago
Ya... that's why most studios are switching to Apple computers with Mac OS X installed.
***open-minded***
gloc0005 2 years ago
Yeah, all that softwares on Mac are great but will cost you a big fortune to buy only the programs and you will also need to invest on extras (very expensive), Upgades (all the time), and Training on how to use them.(photoshop, Premier Pro...etc)
So, thats is just too much to cope when you are a creative person and really you need to move fast.
Pc`s are so easy to use and can do almost the same job, in less than the half of time you need in a mac.
So, think again.. open minded
supersonicprods 2 years ago
Wow are you dumb? You are so wrong.
Krondelo 2 years ago
I mean. You'll still have to buy PC programs, and invest on extras, and upgrades, and training how to use them...With PC or Mac.
It's not like you get free, good, unlimited upgrade software on a pc that you know how to use already...
googenshlagen 2 years ago
The only difference between the two is how fast they turn the computer on and off!
sedativechunk 2 years ago
Garageband and Logic are only available on Mac....Logic used to be on PC but after ver. 5 they put a stop to that....Windows is the problem...Take MS Windows out of the picture, and I'll gladly switch from Mac....And don't say Linux because there's no Pro DAW software available for Linux...

Depends on how you define "Pro". Ardour is very capable and available on Linux .

to answer your question best thing to do is set up yout playlist in fl
use youre record button in the top of your screen
set it to wait 1 bar and then start flaying (it plays as one samle in your playslist (do this first before you comlete a song )otherwise you can lose your work
so i hope this is usefull and if you have more question bout fl send me an comment if you need annything else)

I have Logic. It comes with stock sounds for you to use right away. But I'd recommend getting additional sound packs as you will find the sounds are not very dynamic. But if you put time into editing them, it will be a hit!

Like you would know anything about talent
idonotlikeusernames1 2 years ago
lol. Making stuff sound good doesn't mean you need shit loads of equipment. If you are using Logic/Cubase then you should have lot's of nice plugins that you can use to make your mixes sound good, i.e.: compression, distortion, EQ, reverb, delay, the list is endless, just do some research and some reading.

you need a very good sound card to get good quality sound recorded.
