Doesn't matter if you can't throw a strike you won't get a strike call. You have poor mechanics and throw too slow anyway. They probably would have lit you up. Good thing they pulled you.
Im ok with the ejection but if the umpire thought it was so bad that the pitcher say it he shouldnt of repeated it as loud as he did when the coach asked about it. He should have walked over to or had the coach come to him and repeat it so the fans didnt have to hear it. The umpire ended up looking unprofessional.
If I was umpiring this game I would call time after the second pitch after the catcheer took his mask off walk around clean the plate and warn the catcher to keep his comments to himself. If he continued which he appears to be I wold have tossed him out also. You notice the catcher doesnt put up mch of a fight getting tossed?
@L2Brew@noahmcdx@Slabo84 haha I don't believe I'm amazing but that season in 2010 my ERA was below 1.50 and in my previous playoff start I allowed 0 earned runs in 6 innings with 6 strikeouts. the start before that against this same team I pitched 6 innings with 1 earned and 7 strikeouts.
When I umpired, I would give a warning for throwing a bat (if it was violently thrown), throwing a helmet anywhere outside your dugout, and if the pitcher intentionally threw at a batter.
I would eject someone if they cursed at me, if a coach kicked dirt on me, if a coach didn't go back to the dugout after I told him to, and if a spectator kept yelling at me behind the backstop (I would just ask them to go sit in the stands or something).
during one of my summer games the opposing pitcher said "FUCK!!" real loud when the catcher made a horrible error and neither ump said anything or even look at him
First of all "god damn" isn't cursing. Secondly, if you are going to throw someone out for cursing, then you would be throwing out half the guys who strike out every game. When I umpired, I heard guys say "shit" and "fuck" to themselves all the time going back to the dugout. If the player is cursing directly at the umpire, then yes that's unsportsmanlike and he should be thrown out. At the high school level, you should promote good sportsmanship.
@Grapes428 first i do agree with part of god damn is not cursing but some do believe it is second i don't mind if a batters swere to themselfs not at an umpire this is unsportsmanlikecondut the pitcher needs to be better
Had I been the plate ump, I think I would have yelled back at him, "Well so the f**k do the rest of us, how about you give me something to work with!?!?!"
Of course some umps are kinda' touchy about "bad language".
damn is almost not even a swear anyone that is saying, oh its unsportsmanlike conduct, legit, kill yourself, if you think damn is a bad word go FUCK yourself
i cursed out a kid that was talking shit to me when i was pitching on the mound. the kid i cursed out was in the dugout and i didnt get thrown out. everyone herd it i went right up to him . some umpires are different with their rules
Having umpired little league and pony league for over ten years, I would have done the same. Swearing of any kind is an automatic ejection. No warnings. It is clearly spelled out in the rules.
I ran my brother out of a game at a play at second base. He said give us a call *hole and I ran him...but only because other's heard it. I usually give a warning if it's older kids and it's not heard by others.
@mouchie ...as an umpire your right your not paid to take shit but if he uses bad language that only you can hear its not a big deal these kids looklike there old enough to speak how they want. Im just saying if kno1 in the stadium can tell he said it let it go or talk to him about it he does not even look back until he is tossed
I don't see how you guys can determine who said it based on the video. Someone said "can i get a god damn strike call". My guess would be the catcher, i doubt the camera would've picked up on anything the pitcher said.
I think the problem with some umpires is they tend to get to power-hungry during a game. If a kid uses a profanity you should approach him during the changing of innings and tell him you heard it and don't appreciate it. Give him a warning, people make mistakes, would it be ok for the pitcher to throw the ump out for missing a call? No. Umpires should remember it's a game and the players are competing and are intense. If a kid drops a bomb once, that's no excuse to kick him out, that's wrong.
@CharlesKruzits The rulebook is clear cut and dry on the use of profanity. Zero-Tolerance Automatic Ejection. If you don't like the rule you don't have to play..... Umpires are paid to officiate the game and uphold the integrity of the game (i.e. enforcing the rules).
Is it possible that the ump thought the pitcher was pisses off at him. it seemed to me that he was just pissed off at himself. He did swear and that is unsportsmanlike, but i am surprised he didn't get a warning.
wow... an ejection for saying he needs a g damn strike? lol. he didn't get personal with u ump. there was no reason to throw this kid out of the game. I usually agree with most umps decisions but this is stupid.. i take a lot more heat then just i need strikes or did u throw him out because u had this team just a day or so ago and got the same shit. thats the only way id understand this ejection but damn it wasn't a direct attack towards u people say the strike zone sux but if they said u suck
Unsportsmanlike.. Since when in the rules of baseball has it said that you Yourself cannot swear in a game? Fucking bullshit.. Fuck the umps, assholes.
@weirdfarte13 Ok. Well let me ask you this.. Don't you think the Ump needs to look into further detail for this? The player who got ejected wasn't even the one that said anything.
@weirdfarte13 Wow, I'm glad for you that it doesn't say you need a fucking education to play baseball..god damn. UH OH I WOULD'VE GOTTEN EJECTED. lulz.
The first rule is not to criticize another umpire while you are on the field with them. As an umpire when we get evaluated at least at the rookie ball level we are criticized all the time in evaluations. Let them talk a little bit who cares your paid to do the game that includes taking a little shit here and there. yes i do umpire, and played at the college level guess this is why i know how to handle players a little better than this. sorry for the bad commet but its true
@ajga2233 first off you just broken the one rule of umpire never ever citizens another umpire.... secondly it does not matter if we can't here it. its a right call good ejection why? its unsportsmanlike.... you don't do it. you want to stay in game and get upset... keep to yourself.
@ajga2233 umpire are not paid to take shit, they are paid to enforce the rules. Swearing is unsportsmanlike conduct. If you dont like the rule stay home.
@critter2 ... Yeah. But, if it occurs on the sidelines near parents and kids the person has to be issued a yellow card for unsporting behavior. Similar here (only it is an ejection). I think the attempt is to keep things under control. =) Right!
@milpoolXXX i can see what your saying and each ref and umpire is different. some with give leanway some will not. i had to tell kids to stop making fun of how a kid talk. the coach's didn't do crap or the parents so i was about done with it. I didn't want to here it. and it was there on teammate.
@critter2 .... Good for you, at least someone stood up for the kid. That sort of thing (bullying) is something I never understood. Usually goes hand-in-hand with having a really small penis.
@milpoolXXX i won't comment on last part, i just was pick on and bully myself... and i didn't want to see it anymore. i am surprise the coach did not do anything usually they should speak up.
@s0lidstateguy ... And as an umpire I let the kids get away with a little. But with Moms and little kids around, no f-bombs or s-bombs or anything bad.
@oldaardvark 1) this is a kid not an adult saying crap. And 2) with the proximity fo the cather to the umpire, the only way the umpire isn't going to hear what the catcher says if he really is deaf in the literal sense. Bottom line, teach kids to be respectful in the face of a problem. don't say anything and you do not get ejected.
