But what i don't get is you getting "looks" from the black folks, i mean when i look at you i wouldn't even think you were biracial, you look mostly black to me anyway. There are a lot of black people that have light skin and light eyes, i personally know a couple that are very light and are black from both sides of the families. so as far as most people are conserned, you could be another light skinned "black" women.

@CoacoaBean08 Actually the one drop rule wasnt used to determine whether a child was a slave or not they determined it by the mother, if the mother was a slave so was the child, if the mother was free.... no matter white, or free person of color, the child was also deemed free. The " One drop rule " wasn't implemented until decades after the Civil War with Jim Crow . So the Mulatto slaves weren't slaves because of " one drop " of black blood... they were slaves because their mother's were.

Whether a biracial looks white or not is irrelevant in the USA. Biracials are considered black here because both parents are considered black. If a white person marries a black person white people treat this person as black too. If a movie star marries a black person it will hinder his career. It seems that people in US really dont know what African, European and Biracial look like.
In Europe its easier, becouse most people REALLY are African, European or biracial. There havent been hundreds years of mixing like in US. In US "blacks" are multiracial, they are not like African Blacks.
I can tell 100% that she is biracial or at least she is not only "black". Her facial feature is clearly not black, but more caucasian.

@CoacoaBean08 Actually the one drop rule wasnt used to determine whether a child was a slave or not they determined it by the mother, if the mother was a slave so was the child, if the mother was free.... no matter white, or free person of color, the child was also deemed free. The " One drop rule " wasn't implemented until decades after the Civil War with Jim Crow . So the Mulatto slaves weren't slaves because of " one drop " of black blood... they were slaves because their mother's were.

Thanks for sharing. I'm guessing that the way you talk puts some Black people off. You shouldn't change that though. Luckily, you pretty much just look Black, so you are probably able to fit in more within the Black community, for that reason.
Those of us bi-racials that are light-skinned seem to have a harder time assimilating into the Black community, than dark ones, like you.

This is what I don't understand? If you are biracial but you look black, what's the problem? Black people are going to assume you are black and not treat you any different than they would another black person. If a white person is racist that person will treat you the same whether you look biracial or black. There's no perceived difference with them. The real difference in your head. Lighter biracials or blacks who look white are the ones who get hassled by both races. I understand their pain.

Whether a biracial looks white or not is irrelevant in the USA. Biracials are considered black here because both parents are considered black. If a white person marries a black person white people treat this person as black too. If a movie star marries a black person it will hinder his career. It wasn't known until he was old that Robert Dinero had black children. It was kept out of the press. It's better now. But even Robin Thicke is called black because his wife is biracial. As black people we all need to recognize that whether you have 2 black parents or one, none of us are getting any extras. White people aren't rolling out the red carpet for anyone one of us. We are all minorities and that means we aren't getting any more than our skills or talent warrant. Whether you think of yourself as biracial or black, you still have to get an education, have talent or work hard to become successful. No one is going to hand it to you based on your DNA. Hey ,it's not just any whites or blacks that can't see you're biracial, multicultural, etc, it's the isolated ones.What I mean by that is if you live in a place thats diverse and has other people that are diverse then they can tell. I look at people and can see the other races and ethnicities that maybe the unexposed or non mixed person can't. America has been multicultural and multiethnic for a long time. We need to stop focusing so much on race and classifying ourselves. And focus more on education, empowerment, growth in terms of personal skills and so on. If you hadn't stated it, I wouldn't not have known that you were biracial. I'm multiracial myself but you wouldn't know unless I told you so what does it really matter. Other attributes matter more than race but I see your point! Nice thought provoking vid!

2. In the Eastern region, you get some who are very,very fair in complexion, in places like Calabar, or the Delta region you could assume they were from anywhere inside, or outside of Africa! My brother is married to an Ethiopian, and together(or when he's by himself !) they look like any other Ethiopian family, in fact when they met,she was actually asking him direction in her language! So I know the beauty of our Great continent,lies in our diversity,it's outsiders who split hairs!

I agree because if she did not TELL anyone that she was bi-racial know one would really now or care. They would think that she is Just a regular AA which is pretty mixed anyway. Most AA has some European and sometimes even Native Ancestry. Though not that much but it seems that everyone wants to claim a Distant Cherokee Ancestor if their hair is the slightest bit straighter than what is considered African Hair.

They'd rather be anything than straight up black/ African, then they get mad when people like Halle Berry, or Mariah Carey(b4 she married!) dated whites, forgetting that they are actually half white! look up the video about blacks and native American ancestry, featuring Chris Rock and Don Cheadle, they always said they had Native great grandmothers, the DNA test disproved that myth, you'll see how disappointed they look!

there are some blacks who white or native ancestry in their bloodlines somewhere , but there is a big difference between that and actually have one white parent and one black parent. That's not the same as having a great great great grandparent who is white way back in your family somewhere.

It seems that people in US really dont know what African, European and Biracial look like.
In Europe its easier, becouse most people REALLY are African, European or biracial. There havent been hundreds years of mixing like in US. In US "blacks" are multiracial, they are not like African Blacks.
I can tell 100% that she is biracial or at least she is not only "black". Her facial feature is clearly not black, but more caucasian.
