  • WTF has he done with the lyrics?

  • Unreal. Just unreal. Criticize edved all you want, but i love this.

  • The best version of this song is the acoustic version by the writer - Mark Seymor.

The best Pearl Jam song in my opinion is Last Kiss - Eddie Vedder nailed that one.

  • Covering an iconic classic always boils emotions. Performed well (though way to fast ) but lyrically raped. What was originally a passionate other person centred song became a brag for a good root on a one night stand. The original words "you will make me call your name" becomes I will make you call my name. Typical change from an egocentric rock star. Mark Seymour live brings this song alive like this version could never aspire to. Probably because he respects the girl he wrote this for.

  • @mistergormsby Eloquently expressed...

  • @mistergormsby i used to like this cover.....thanks for spoiling it for me.

  • te besaré en ciento cincuenta y cinco lugares

  • Ok.. Iike Pearl Jam but Australian Mark Seymour sings it with waaaaaaay more passion.

  • I love this version... Reminds me of someone very special who's no longer with me :(

  • Ok OK!! I have to confess, Mark Seyours version of this song, which yes, I know he wrote it, anyway, Marks version is one of the strongest, most gripping songs I've heard in a long time. And yes, Marks IS a love song, where Eddie's kinda carries his egotistical arrogance, lol. But hey, still love Eddie & his version is still awesome.

  • gamei gia opoion toulaaxiston mporei na to zisei kai na to niwsei..

  • pou ta briskeis re pousti....

  • proud to be AUSTRALIAN when i hear this song by the best band in the world

  • I´ll make you laugh I ´ll make you cry!!

  • I've seen Eddie do this song live and it was brilliant. No one will do it as well as Hunters but Pearl Jam are superb.

  • I WAS THERE!!!! He came out to the stage BEFORE the band that opened PJ's concert (My Morning Jack, by the way, great band)! I remember saying "hey, that dude looks like Eddie" and then he played this awesome version of this awesome song! It was magical!

  • Paul is better

  • In Eddie we trust

  • If you´re not crushing on Eddie here, you probably never will.

  • @pridden76 Oh yes.... the way he does this song definitely creates some very sweet Eddie fantasies. lol. I'm definitely not immune. ;)

  • @Stinkbug74

Hehe, I know what you mean....

  • His voice is so magical, awww love it!

  • wow thats a nice Job on a Hunters classic, well done :)

  • This is the ultimate love song from a man

  • @stevemcarthur1981 well said ;)

  • @stevemcarthur1981 agreed. 1500 likes.

  • This is the only "5 starred" song on my ipod. Taken from the "immagine in cornice" (sorry if spelling's off) DVD. 100% worth buying and watching for any PJ fan! It gives a proper idea as well of what the guys are like on tour.

  • @killergorilla50 i think u spelled it right

  • From an Aussie - I love how Eddie loves Aussie music. I mean how many yanks know that ACDC is Australian???? He knows good music and how to write it and personally, if he wants to cover a song and do it well, then good on him!

  • I'd just like to point out that it's unadvisable to watch this version alone: best to have someone there to, ahem, take it out on.

  • I am sooo glad I found this on here. Best song I've ever heard Eddie do. His great gift for throwing all his heart & soul into his singing really comes out here. I just can't get enough of this one. Have to listen to it almost every day. Never known anyone who could make a song about a fling sound like one of most beautiful Love folk songs ever. lol. Outrageously beautiful...

  • @60Crisco This is the WORST song I've ever heard Vedder do, because I've heard Mark Seymour do it and Vedder butchers it, badly.

  • @justme2623 @justme2623 @justme2623 I was gonna reply to you in the normal way. But I just checked out your channel to see what kind of person would make a comment such as yours on such an excellent, emotive performance and I was confronted with erotic hypnosis. I don't think I need go on. Void.

  • @h879xx It's a classic song and Vedder butchered it, what I watch or don't watch on youtube, for whatever reason, has absolutely no bearing on the matter. It's quite sad, and pathetic, that someone would try to use such an argument to support this woeful cover of a brilliant song.

  • @justme2623 are you his mom?

  • @60Crisco The ORIGINAL version by Hunters & Collectors is iconic :)

  • @60Crisco You are write exept he didn't write the song.

  • @KingEldo3 Sorry, I had read somewhere that Mark Seymour wrote this song, but since then, yes, I have seen several names listed at the writer

  • @Stinkbug74 Yeah Mark Seymour wrote it with Hunters and Collecters.

  • @Stinkbug74 It WAS written by Mark Seymour. Just look it up in Wikipedia or any other site that actually checks facts. You have the net as a resource, yet you're taking the word of someone who hasn't a clue!

  • I love Vedder...99% of pearljam's covers do the original song justice. It's more paying homage to influential musicians than trying to make money off established classics

  • love Pearl Jam but i think this version of the Hunters classic is too fast, rushed even.

  • I love this song!!!!!! It's my favorite version. Eddie have the most beautiful voice. xx

  • I love how Pearl Jam do covers of all these amazing songs like Baba O'Reilly and Lightning crashes and this. It's great to see a band respect such amzing songs and add them to their setlists just great

  • Existe uma rapariga numa terra distante chamada Lustosa que ama esta música essa Rapariga tem o nome de SARA ALVES :D

Sara não te emociones pela 14563241 vez a ouvir esta musica **,

  • Did they ever record this cover, or did they just record it?

  • @Chookie369 It might not, but in such case, use filsh.net, and convert it yo mp3, I`ve just do that and sounds amazing ;D

  • presente

  • Like Macca after Lennon left the scene he's outlasted Kurt and this is a nice version of a decent Hunters' ballad to be sure:)

  • God Bless Mark Seymour for writing this song so EV could rewrite it and make it even BETTER! Baaaahahahahahaha!!!!

JK :) I love this song and I'm so glad Eddie liked it enough to pass it along. Gracias Mark S. & The Hunters & Collectors!

  • Great song - but even better slowed down. My favorite versions are by DAAS and Out Of The Blue.

  • Not bad, love Eddie, but he's singing this a bit fast

  • @leelee2145 ...Fast Eddie...

  • Sorry, love Eddie but can't beat Hunters and Collectors

  • eddie can sing anything and make it his own

  • sorry hunters and collectors is heads and shoulders better

  • he is so talented and his voice is so sexy! (this is coming from a 17 year old ) :)

  • People of Pistoia must be talking about that concert for the next 50 years... incredible

  • I have to agree with pearljamgirl08...no comparison!

  • This song knocks me out in at least 16 different ways. That I can count at present.

  • classic aussie song. Always went off when the hunters and collectors played it.

i do like it when overseas bands play aussie classics. Respect

  • This is a great version, so don't get it mixed up as a copy. It's a song that Eddie has played live for years after hearing it & as most musicians do, put his own spin on it. I think alot of you fellow Aussies are forgetting that the original of this song by the Hunters was a much faster beat & less a ballad than what has over the years become the famous & much revered rendition. Take this simply as it is. one great musician paying tribute to another & thank Eddie for taking it to the world!!

  • Love, Love Eddie...and Pearl Jam!

  • come back to croatia!!!!

pearl jam is my guiding star! :-)

  • this is quite a nice solo version..... the guitar has great tone. i think he's dropped it down a key, the original riff is very high pitch.

  • i agree that this version has lost it's soul. Check out Doug Anthony All Stars version with the amazing Paul McDermott singing the most beautiful rendition of this beautiful song

  • @ClareG09 - Thanks for the tip, I've never heard that version before. Great stuff.

  • @ClareG09 Go to agree with Clare on this one. This version from Eddie is good, Neils is Ok as well but for sheer emotional impact and stunning harmony the DAAS (Doug Anthony Allstars) and Paul McDermott versions are the go.

  • PISTOIAAA

  • The tempo is all wrong & the song lost its soul. Check out the many Crowded House versions. Far superior. The unplugged one would be the best ever if Jules Shear wasn't singing in it. Hunters & Collectors (song writer in band) do better also.

  • @mP51D yeah right you're such a music genius. i wont check out any of that crap just because of your arrogance now. happy?

  • @giesteiraroberto Because you know everything without listening to it that's fine, don't ever listen to the other versions. People who love music never listen to a lot of differnet music, right? Yes I'd also be happy if you never did because then I'd never have to worry about listening to you at a Crowded House concert, 'hissing' and 'booing' Neil Finn, who by the way, got to know Eddie Vedder because Eddie is a big fan, wanted to meet him & then they did some concerts together. Don't listen.

  • Comment removed

  • @mP51D Wrong tempo? What does that even mean? Just because it's different doesn't mean it's wrong. I get that a lot of Europeans and Aussies (and others) resent Americans, but don't try to make a song political. Of course, I like all the versions myself :)

  • @jvaish - You're right that it's all subjective as to tempo and what makes one song or version is better than the other. That being said would you rather listen to Pride & Joy by Stevie Ray Vaugh or Keith Maples? Eddie is a great talent & got into the song through Neil Finn & I'd be even be curious to hear if Eddie thinks his version is better or just different. Continued ........

  • Comment removed

  • @jvaish - Wouldn't matter, I agree that it's in the ear of the beholder, I was just offering and opinion that may cause people to go check out the other versions. What was the rest of your post about? I'm not sure where that's coming from or even exactly what it means. Were you into the Cannabis or something?

  • @mP51D Not sure what the rest of my post was about? Well, you are probably Canadian so I will give it to you that it was probably a little beyond your abilities for extrapolation ;) As for your other comments, I can't really say as I don't know who Keith Maples is but I am assuming he's not that great. All the versions I have heard of this song are great, PJ, H&C, DAAS, your mom etc... :)

  • @jvaish - So you like my Mom's Tuba version of the song. Nice. I don't know what you know so I wasn't sure if you thought I was an American (seems half my friends are) or that I was hating Americans and I'm also not sure what you mean by making it political. Well tie me dowm and jump on my head (SCTV humour) but I'm not shy to say if I'm not quite understanding something. Maybe I haven't been getting enough Molson's, Kraft Dinner or Terrance & Philip.

  • @mP51D hehe. you allright :)

  • I just can't describe this feeling with words ...

  • I've listened to marks version of the song and eddies... To be quiet honest they're both very talented singers but eddies version of the song is better, I'm not saying he is the all around better singer but even though he's never written the song he has great vocals, talent and charisma that can make up for messing up in the song

  • lol @ the Pearl Jam fanbois. A poor man's Soundgarden doing a poor man's version of another band's song.

  • @Charizard1985 Not to detract from Chirs Cornell... he was a good spoonman, but I think Vedder is a better man!

  • @Charizard1985 have you heard Chirs Cornell's solo project, ed will allways be the betterman

  • I really hate how fast this is... Ruins it for me.

  • those 5 who disliked...get fucked

  • best example of the cover being better than the original

  • i don´t care if ppl say mark seymour sings this alot better it's his song, eddie's sings it too fast or with wrong words. Eddie's voice gives the song an haunting, beautiful tone that no one else's voice can give.

  • he sang it to fast and the words are wrong

  • ....beer, dreams and .. maybe a cigar!

    :O)

  • sexed up version of a sad song

  • you gotta give to pearl jam even thought they didnt write the song, this song is truely pearl jams style of music and is quite well fitting into the jam scene, and what their about! still not as good as seymour, slightly biast though being a fuckin aussie- good attempt though

  • not even close to Mark Seymor's version

  • @iloveknitting1 sure,cuz it's Eddie's version

  • Mark Seymour is the owner of this song and I'm sorry to say that no one can sing it quite like he can. I love Perl Jam but there is simply no comparing the two

  • ♥♥♥

  • respect for eddies interpretations..BUT never forget this song belong to Mark Seymour.. and Australia i guess in a funny way (from a non-australian)

  • Comment removed

  • @morbidnettles i did the same with your comment

  • Sorry... but... as much as i like EV - mark seymour does a far better job

  • It's played a little too fast for my likings, I still think the original Hunters & Collectors version is better, But this is still good.

  • This version, to me, comes across as poignantly touching & passionate, and not one-night standish in the least bit.

  • Where's the passion as shown when Mark Seymour does this live? Yes people will say it's your interpretation but.....there's meaning behind the words when sung in a certain fashion. That meaning is lost in the way you've sung it. You sing it like it's a meaningless one night stand. Wham Bam...

Go and revise by watching Mark Seymour do it. He sings it like....well with meaning...that even though it might be the only time they're together....it will remain for life.

  • @SauronsEye you claim to understand other's interpretations... and you missed his completely. He doesn't sing it like it's a one night stand, he's pleading in all of these lines. Listen to him. he's practically worshiping something he can't have for a long period of time. That's Eddie, angst and yearning. Enjoy it for what it is, stop bitching

  • I'm so in love.....

  • Fantastic Australian anthem song, performed by the worlds most talented man.

  • Luka Bloom also did a very good cover of this song. Great song!

  • I love him <3

  • phenominal! best version of it ever!

  • simply awesome

  • ed's voice always make me listen over and over again to his songs for not less than 5 times..

  • Eddie seems to love Australian music.

  • so sweet song.. i dream that someone one day should dedicate it to me..

  • I'm glad I was at Brisbane when he played this. It kicked ass.

  • Comment removed

  • does any one know where i could find a good tab of this version of the song?

  • its just 3 chords: E A B, all the time

  • ed is good but when it comes to belting this tune, only one can do it justice.... the man that wrote it Mark Seymour!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  • I like many singers, there will never be a singer like Ed. no comparison.

    I love him.

  • @pearljamgirl08 same..he awsome!!1

  • @pearljamgirl08 so very true... instantly recognizable, emotive... plus, he's one of the best songwriters ever... which i know this is a cover but still...

  • @pearljamgirl08 youre joking right?

  • @Spec0pleader

no, Any problem? It's my opinion what's wrong with that?

  • @pearljamgirl08 his voice isnt bad but there are so many more artists out there with that can really sing -cough- freddy mercury -cough-

  • antipodean for the win

  • KINGBRENTY:

It's not about a one night stand, here is a cited quote from Mark Seymour that I found on Wikipedia a while ago. "I was in a relationship with a woman I was very much in love with and she was the inspiration. I wrote virtually all the lyrics on Human Frailty about my relationship with her [...] TYAAM was the first song I wrote that wasn't angry."[4] —Mark Seymour"

If you look up TYAAM on wikipedia you can find the text and the cited link.

  • well if its on wikipedia then it MUST be true...

  • There is a link to the citation that the quote comes from. You must be one of those guys who just can't be wrong. Maybe Mark Seymour should change what the song means to suit your needs?

  • yes. could you please arrange that?

    dickweed

  • dickweed? You're obviously a mature individual. I bet you beat up nerds and arranged circle jerks with your football buddies in high school.

  • Its not about a one nighta - IMHO - that line (and we may never meet again, shed your skin & lets get started) means that you never know what tomorrow will bring so lets live for right now, in the moment.

  • Mark Seymour...who wrote the song...himself stated that the song is indeed written about a one night stand.

so take your lame 'live for the moment" garbage somewhere else and apply it to a lesser song.

  • deffa 7 must be a yank lol

  • yeah this is gay, they think its just about getting through the song? no, its all about getting with the song, making some connection to it, and i tell you, this has a great connection with me at least, and im sure to alot of many other AUSSIES! sorry but its just a classic aussie song, that an american band have used.

  • I LOVE this, not for Pearl Jams Version, But the fact that we finally have a US band doing a cover of An AUSTRALIAN classic!!!

  • waaaa thanx for posting this..

  • where is this? dubrovnik? haha

  • E io c'ero...Ho ancora i brividi...Grazie..

  • nah

  • So much better than the original mate!

  • Nah too fast! less feeling in as it gets faster.

  • Cheep ass copy of a good Aussie song .. go hunters

  • Great tune.. Glad too hear him tribute the great H/C.. but no need for the clapping

  • Remember when PJ was against ticketmaster? now they are charging $90 to see them in arenas. i'd gladly pay $50 but they've just gone to "old man hypocrite" and it is sad.

  • I paid 174.50 for two tickets front row to the Key Arena shows later this year. Don't forget.. . gas used to be 85 cents a gallon at one point too.......

  • I love him! He's amazing! I'd love to have been there, as amazing as the video is the real thing would be extraordinary!

  • ha, my cousin danced to this as her wedding song

  • really? why? its a song about a one night stand.

  • io c'ero!

  • io c'ero semmai!!

  • Cool stuff, man. Must've been an awesome show. And no, I don't speak Italian I just used a full-text translator on some site, which said "io c'ero!" means "I was there!" :-D

  • El mejor cantante grunge con diferencia

  • best voice in the world

  • Amen.

  • jk omfg what a song

  • cover of a Hunters and Collectors song: great stuff.....

  • eddie is my hero

  • you should meet bananman,,,,,

  • This cannot be better. It's brilliant.

  • i love this dvd

  • he's got great voice but sorry it's just aint nothing like the way Mark Seymour sings it, Mark Seymour sings it with his heart and soul... Mark Seymour makes australia very proud.

  • I think this is an indication of how truly great this song is - it translates just as wonderfully in Eddie's raspy howl as it does in Neil's pure tenor.

  • totally agree!

  • I like the Hunters and Collectors slow version its on my channel

  • Neil? isnt the original by Mark Seymour of Hunters& Collectors? or are you talking about someone else

  • Yes, you are right, but I was thinking of various people who have covered this song, and it occurred to me that you couldn't find two more disparate voices than those of Eddie Vedder and Neil Finn, and yet both make the song work wonderfully.

  • best song ever!!

  • where is this gig?

  • Comment removed

  • so good.. can't stop listening to this fuckin song.

  • Magnificent!

  • Thank you for this wonderful video!

  • c'ero cazzo
