  • I REALLY love this song. Thank you!

  • @vash47 Me too! I have said many times, This is one of my all time favorite songs...specifically this performance. The recrd is worth about $1.00, but is priceless to me.

  • I have the same record player! It had a bad hum when I bought it. I went through and changed all the capacitors because people told me it wasn't likely to be a tube problem. But sure enough after all that work, it ended up being a bad tube. Replaced the tube and now it sounds great. The needle and mechanicals are all good, although the turntable needs a push to get going once in a while.

  • They're good this pair. Thanks for uploading, 78Revolutions.

  • I'll buy that record player how cool!!! i love my ipad but sheesh!! i loved how records used to be played

  • I dont know about who recorded on what label and I dont know how many RPMs was this and that. All I know is I love and enjoy this song.... I have been a big Forrest fan since my teen years (which im still in) and will continue to listen to these 78s even after all of you who have commented before me have passed.

  • Since you've enjoyedthis song, I got the same copy at Goodwill yesterday, but it sounds great, but I would love to play it on my 1975 GE Wildcat, I also have the same song by Harry James, but I ended up getting this one by Helen Forrest and Dick Haymes.

  • @BrooklynMouseReturns Right on! One of my favorite songs/records of all time! I first heard it on a 45, but its the kind of song that I prefer on 78. I have since found a second copy, too, just to have a backup/spare.

  • @78Revolutions Good! I played that song on my '75 GE Wildcat, but just to keep in mind that this 78 RPM record does not have a flipover stylus which is LP/78, but it only has a single sided diamond needle. When I played this song, the sound that I hear on a 78 with an LP needle would sound horrible on this Wildcat. I played these 78's on my Wildcat due to lots of hisses in the background. I'll make a video response to your copy which I will be posting it soon.

  • Great recording! I like the effort you put in all this. Great stuff.

  • Sux you got your account shut down. Good music, though! I'm 30 now, and have been collecting 78s since I was in my teens. I have over 1000. I've bought a lot of the late 30s-40s stuff, like the Dorseys, James, and Miller, and now my new fascination is Ray Noble with Al Bowlly, though those records are a bit more expensive. Good music, though! More people our age should like this stuff!

  • Thanks! I have probably 15oo or 1700. Ive got about 1,000 in the attic waiting to be sorted and cartalouged. Nothing of value...ive gone through them all already, just havent sorted them. Ive got ssome ray noble, but Al bowlly isnt familiar. I wouldnt consider Ray to be more expensive though..at least not in my experience. If there is something of his you are looking for,let me know I can look and see if I have some to spare. And yes, People our age are missing out by listening to Lady Gaga?!?!?

  • Most early Ray Noble records are British, and are on the HMV label. Al Bowlly's name won't be listed. It'll just say 'with vocal chorus.'

  • I`m not really into 1940`s music as a rule, but damn it you made me really like this song .imagine that!

  • @amberola1b Haha. I know the feeling. I love so much music from the era, but this song clearly stands out above 'the rest'. Such is the reason its one of my most prized 78's, even if it has little to no monetary value. I actually have a spare copy just in case, too :)

  • Plastic Palace.

  • If voices could melt wax, then these two would be experts. *sigh*

  • And if they could melt Shellac, This record wouldnt have survived the lat 60 years :) Thanks for the comment.

  • I have this 78rpm. I bought it in 1946. Helen Forrest was one of the best female vocalists in the '40's.

  • One of the best vocalists ever in my book. I adore her voice in this song.

  • Hi I Checked Out Your 78's Haul Video That Features This One And I Found It Real Interesting, You Sure Are Lucky To Find Such Gems

  • Thanks. They dont fall in your lap. It has taken time to learn where to look, and what to look for. 3 years ago I wouldnt have bought this record, now it is one of my most prized, even though essentially valuless. Its a flawless song to me. Not many people my age enjoy this stuff, so I am kind of on my own to learn whats-what!

  • Nice!

  • I also have the version on a 78 by Harry James with Kitty Kallen. I might re-uploading it on "MagcialWorldofMusic".

  • I think I heard that on your other youtube page. Did your original account also get shut down by the music police?

  • Suspensions are done by your e-mail addy, so any account opened up his same e-mail addy would have been zapped.....even if he had a whole account of home videos that werent in violation. Bad system.

  • Oh I didnt realize it would take down all accounts of a person for one 'infraction' on one account. Thats overkill!

  • Yes, I lost two accounts when my Falcons66 got nixed.

  • Yeah, because of WMG for using "Winter Wonderland" by Perry Como on your '56 Philco. I'm still you're uploading some music to avoid WMG, from now on, don't upload anymore WMG stuff but I'm trying to warn you. I removed the video of Kleeer's "Keep Your Body Workin'" where it does have the Atlantic 45 bit, but it lasted about 3 days since I removed it with no fanfare, I uploaded onto Vimeo instead.

  • I have that as well, and almost recorded it yesterday but ended up going to another record. Its pretty good , but not as good as this verion IMO.

  • Nice to hear this again, and I would say this 78 is better sounding than the 45 was.

  • agreed. The 45 was an EP with four songs, and it was in decent shape but was being played on the old zenith which had a couple issues, Including a tiiiny speaker that made it sound very tinny.

  • Great tune and that Webcor sings it very nice!

Pretty soon my 1958 Magnavox will be up when restored. The amp has be completed and I'm currently working on the record changer.

  • Thanks! Ive seen the pic of your maggie, cant wait for you toget it done. And yes, The webcor has mighty good souind for a portable.

  • A great tune! Thanks for posting!

    Joe

  • quite welcome, its one of my all time favs!

  • This is a good one. It may be time for me to expand my collecting interests (in 78s) to past the 1930's.

  • Heck Yeah! the40's and early 50's are the best era for vocalists, in my opinion.
