  • I grew up in Gurdon from age 5 to age 15. It was good to see the Methodist church I attended back then. Gurdon began as a railroad stop, but timber has always been big.

    The lumberman's club the International Order of the Concatenanted Hoo Hoo was founded there. I hope during your stay that you got to see the ghost light just outside town.

    The town is not uniformly conservative. The town has been affected by mill closings, as timber jobs are exported to cheaper labor places.
