apart from that, international box, wrestling, muay thai champions just as well the german SEK & GSG9 (the best elite group germany has) trains avci wing tsun,so it can not be as bad as critics sayI dont wanna say the style is the best, but you should try a free wing tsun session just to build your own opinion every style is as good as its doer & to get respect you have to respect others first, think about that, best regards
of (submission-)wrestling,muay thai,philipino-styles,chin na & so on &it does not 100% look like the traditional way,but it works for fighting & was created to defend oneself in a real combat situation, without weight classes &rules just to protect the athletes…in real life you have only protect yourself & sifu salih teaches it in a very friendly & familial way…
Who did not try a training in any avci school is not allowed to speak bad about the style.everybody can have a free trial session to see, that it really works…I must suggest, the demos are not very good, because you don’t see the techniques, only one guy punching around, but the training is 10000 times better, much more technical & you can have a look anytime.Salih avci is my sifu & he does not teach the traditional wing tsun style,he created an own style, the avci style of wing tsun with elements
1.I can't understand guys, sitting in front of their computer & goof on sifu salih avci or the wing tsun style in general...many people say:"wing tsun is bad, does not work & so on"...they believe muay thai, brazilian jiu-jitsu (or any other kind of martial arts used successfully in mma) is better...I trained since 15 years martial arts,5 years taekwondo/Muay Thai,3 years BJJ & Luta Livre (NoGI Submission Wrestling) & 7 years avci wing tsun & escrima & I can say,the avci system really works!!!
Without "aliveness" you'll never learn anything practical that will work against an actual resisting opponent.
(and yes, I know what Chi Sao is)
The best thing I learned from studying Wing Chun was learning how ineffective it was in a real environment.
Something like Western Boxing (though limited by rules of its own) is a much better precursor to actual combat. - At least in boxing, the people are really TRYING to hit each other.
sorry colin i dont mean to judge or rant but i dont think that you know 'how to' use chisao. it is not a technique. its just a sense excercise. that you should use while boxing or fighting.
true. i agree resistance sparring is essential, but you cant go beating people up in a demo. i know (from experience) that sense and awareness are very important elements in any fight.

I realise it's an exhibitional demo, but still..

I know what chi sao is... for the second time.
I also know (from experience) that training against resistance is a far more effective methodology.

Sure, I'm just sick of people thinking that by doing chi sao, they are training for real combat.
You KNOW the kind of wing chun "true believer" I'm talking about..
