  • It's my great uncle Strand.. :)

  • Just as well I checked out your channel for other gems that I may or may not have missed.. ;0 ) That beachcreature thingy was eaxtraordinarily magnificent, even if it suffered from wind.. :)

  • @BasicModelling It was pretty impressive! (they had some technical difficulties getting it going through the thick sand but it was still pretty cool :)

  • Wow! Just Wow!

  • @longhairred Thanks Marie - hope you are enjoying your summer :)

  • Thanks for this gem. Love all the transitions and b/w to color...

  • @myrnaukelele aww thanks Maureen. I've got limited computer and software right now so I really appreciate your comment! xox

  • Forgive me for not seeing this sooner, I didn't get this in my inbox, and I keep up pretty well with that too. Lesley, another fine installment in an ever growing impressive body of work. The take away for me here is, " If you can't be yourself , then who the hell are you?" There's such power in that. Enjoyed this, and even understood it. (at least I THINK I did. LOL!

  • @audionautix you always get it! Thanks Jason, I'm working on being 'myself' - what I'm finding is that it takes a lifetime to work it out!

  • nice video! ;)

  • @Yezidism07 grazie A, come stai? :)

  • @LeSaMilano in questa valle di lacrime si sta sempre allo stesso mod :( tu vedo che se molto molto molto migliorata dopo che ti sei trasferita in uk ;)

    Bacione

    Alexander ;)

PS: have you a facebook page?

  • Very well done. I love the way you work with imagery, it's lovely. It was perfect with the music.

  • @timido66 thanks Van, struggling with old laptop and windows movie maker over the summer. Whine whine whine. Wine. that's better. xx

  • Well done Lesley. Wow, you did some globe trotting to get all that great footage! Loved the monstersbaby audio too. I'd never heard it before.

  • @Blinkazoid just a little bit of travelling - the globe is smaller over here LOL

I thought the acapella reading was just right for this piece as both the sculptor and the reader happen to be Dutch. such details! I should have been an accountant. LOL

  • OK this scores a CoZzMiX WOW!

  • @CoZzMiX even better than the old star ratings system! Thanks Howard :)

  • I sent this video link to the man himself who replied as follows:

    "Dear Brian,

Thank you very much for your message.

    Indeed, .. a wonderful video.

    Thanks and regards,

    Theo"

  • Oh wow.

Only had time to watch a couple videos this morning before heading out (AND I'm behind again). So glad I clicked on this.

BTW, the audio pops don't subtract anything. You already grabbed me within the first 15 seconds so there was no way I could've fallen off before this ride was over.

    Right on!

  • @OhCurt Thanks Curt. (not getting emails from YT about comments so just noticed this one- sorry for the delay) I'm still irked about the pops but not losing sleep! xx

  • Very lovely.

  • @hippygram thank you for watching :=)

  • amazing sculpture....so coooool! Love what you've created here, with all the elements. : )

    Peace, Angie

  • @feelgoodnation thanks Angie- yes the sculpture was really cool, and seeing and hearing the artist in person was a real treat. :)

  • The "Mistress of all things" is back! I hope to see more of you soon! Another beautiful video, Les! Robots powered by the wind...I could use a few of them here. With all the wind I get, they could be powered forever! Hmmm...but do they do dishes?? :-)

I must apologize for my late arrival here! Good thing I dropped by to see if you had anything new or I might have missed this gem! We must have a chat before you go back to school! I miss you! xoxoxo

  • @GreatGig1 hmmm, not getting emails from YT when a comment hits. No surprise there! LOL Thanks Caylyn - I'll let Theo Jansen know he's missing the boat and should unleash some of his creatures in the desert! The day we went was so gorgeous and hardly a breeze so the strandbbeest barely moved (although the editing I must say makes you think it was scooting right along! LOL)

  • @GreatGig1 must have that chat. B filed me in from your chat with him the other day - so happy you have people moving into the village! xx

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous.

  • @IXGertXI beautiful, beautiful ;)

  • Wow, Lesley. When the sculpture finally began walking, my heart jumped! But my favorite parts of this beautiful video were the transitions ... the aerial shots of the boats, the ferry passing under the bridge ... I love artful movement and color, and you have capitalized on that here. Everything about this video is lovely, and true, and touching.

  • @williefogle thanks so much Bill. how kind you are! I had some beautiful footage in the summer backlog waiting for an entrance! still ticked off about the audio crackles but I'll be over it soon. At least i know they are not on the original and due to some weird compression thing. I know, anla film geek. It's only You Tube ! LOL

  • @billyCtv Thanks Billy - P*ssed off about the crackle in the audio as it's not on the original but I'm glad you enjoyed it- oh for a new MAC! :)

  • This film has Lesley stamped all over it. Love it! So happy to see you are traveling again, it always brings out the BEST in you:)

  • @cynlynj ha! I was thinking of you when I was making this. x

  • Freaky and beautiful! This was definitely worth the wait...

  • @phekwig I'm glad you said freaky ! Theo Jansen's sculptures are freaky indeed! thanks Andy :)

  • Very Cool Lesley...I liked it :) I haven't been on youtube much lately and it appears I have several videos of yours to catch up on....I will watch them all...and leave my profound wisdom on each of them :)

  • @VictorTheGr8 I took 6 months off practically , getting my edjamacation you know.

the others are way short perfect for a horse molester's attention span!

  • I love this! Beauty and wisdom..... More please.

  • @Tobie2 thanks Susan. Confucius say Man who cut self while shaving, lose face. ;)

  • Jansen's kinetic sculptures do similar things for me to Anish Kapoor's work — both producing visionary feats of engineering, one stationary, the other interacting amazingly with the environment. Beautiful meditative piece you've created here Lesley, with a soundtrack that sets me off thinking a hundred things. ;8)

  • @TheraminTrees yes! I was in Chicago a few years ago when the Bean was being constructed and although it was a freezing windy Chicagoey day, stayed and took some amazing photos.

having technology tantrum as I only have access to PC with windows *gag* movie maker. Will have to make the best of it while on summer hiatus! xx

  • Mesmerizing. I know I've said it before but I just really enjoy your style of creativity. That sculpture was amazing. I've never heard of Theo Jansen. Thanks Leslie :)

  • @Sugartalker thanks ST - I had heard of him basically through YT videos I had seen so we thought it would be a good excuse to go to Exmouth for a wander.

On a technical note: I'm in hell right now as I don't have access to anything other than *gulp* windows movie maker....feel like I've lost my hands! aughh

  • That's an amazing sculpture. I've never seen Jansen's work before. I think i will be Googling him. Thanks for another truly affecting video! You never fail to surprise.

  • @NaturalTwentyFilms he's quite well known internationally - and very personable and dedicated to his craft, a sort of mad genius- has an idea that his creatures will evolve and procreate. My Lincoln Logs set never did. LOL

Hope you are well and hope you get a new camera soon. ;)

  • Just wonderful, Lesley! I stopped reading comments when I got to Mr. RandomWritings...lol he must be a trip to live with ;) Happy summering to you!

  • @LizBizToo hey beautiful lady, you are so right about that! He keeps me on my toes. I have to keep on him about that. LOL Happy summertime to you too xx

  • Bravo!!! Blessings, Ang

  • @GramsandPapi *takes bow* thanks Ang :)

  • Magnificient

  • @Jordmate thanks Richard - glad you enjoyed. I wonder if Theo Jansen's sculptures could swim down to your neck of the planet?

  • Wonderful

  • @jjjusssttt thank you for watching :)

  • The is just too cheesy.

  • @lekotar the what?

  • @lekotar Melodramatic, trying too hard, corny, kitschy, cliche overdose, maudlin, sentimental etc.

  • @lekotar No, no! You're thinking of MY videos. Lesley's are just GOOD. No schlock.

  • So, it's "Videojunque Productions" is it? Nice name.

Great video, once again Lesley. I love the combination of the many seemingy unconnected clips.

And i love that sculpture & the idea of it beng powered by the wind. Great stuff :)

  • @andymooseman Thanks Andy. I see we have a few days of rain in the forecast now so can catch up on house work instead of filming! (waah)

VideoJunque is the name of my website so- for now- is also my production company name. :)

  • Excellent film ! :)

  • @proofisinthepudding thanks Carolyn :) we've been having great weather this summer so far so lots f film opportunities! :)

  • Amazing!! I love it! Wonderful once again Lesley...

  • @Tessietots Thank you Tess. I hope you have been enjoying the nice weather we have been having over here - I am expecting to see some new amazing photos! Hope you are well x

  • @LeSaMilano Oh yes! The weather has been AMAZING! I have been out with my camera and will be uploading something soon. Im doing well thanks and hope the same for you.. take Care my friend x

  • Wonderful Lesley.

  • @benzone50 thanks Ben! (hey that reminds me - you have not been coming up in my subs list- must investigate)

  • A kinetic film, Lesley...where life and beauty meet. xo

  • @anniehiggy there have been so many beautiful days this summer, but there has also been plenty of wind! (too many pub lunches perhaps?) x

  • That was rather fine darling - told you Movie Maker works! Now I can't use all the footage I took at the same places - you took the wind out of my sails! x

  • @MrRandomWritings WMM should be outlawed! hmph. You have plenty of wind left darling x

  • @LeSaMilano hmph? It went hundred miles per hour?! WOW! x

  • Bravo Lesley, this was stirring stuff. You are without doubt one of the best film makers here on YT if not this wee spinning ball we all live on, the world! Brilliant as usual.

  • @TamHickey67 Tam, thank so much for such a lovely comment!

  • Comment removed

  • how interesting to be there for the wind powered, group of robotic steps, from the strandbeest. that is very.. cool, isnt even the word. Ingenius! i enjoyed the desaturated daisy and the bee, along with the lightbulb angle! Bravo Lesley!!

  • @cooksterz the beest made the most marvellous noise- the 'wings' and the motion sort of like when you used to clip a playing card to the spokes of a bike wheel - only thousand of them. The background noise from the boat horns forced me to mute the sound though. The light bulbs were on a gazebo in a pub on Dartmoor. (we do find ourselves in a lot of pubs for some reason LOL)

  • Oh! I wanna be myself!

    It's really hard, isn't it?

  • @AncientAtheist Too bad it takes a lifetime! Maybe that's the point. hmmmm *scratches head*

  • This video must be wind powered cause it blew me away! Your skills, which were already stunning, have take a giant step forward in the past year, Les. This is as good as any professional documentary I've seen -- and well beyond that in artistic expression.

  • @liz1060 Liz, you are too kind. Thanks so much for your encouragement. I can pick a million holes in this because I know behind the scenes I am working with old equipment and out-dated amateur software! I know how good it *should* be but don't have the facilities at the moment so just trying to keep my chops up- and post the footage before Brian!. LOL :) xx

  • Wonderful video Lesley...just wonderful !!!

    hugs, Chris

  • @bugsinrug thanks Chris- Brian has much of the same footage on his camera - will be interesting to see his version!

  • Wonderful as all your stuff is:D

  • @bearchay889 thanks! I'm having some extra free time right now so you might see another one soon! (and regret encouraging me! LOL)

  • You just made another one I love it!

  • @oneiblind30 Thanks Huey - have some free time finally! x

  • I love Theo Jansen's creatures and would love to have a "live" encounter:-).

    Lovely video!

  • @sprichbeeke it was definitely worth the hour train ride and hike from the station - plus we were rewarded with the fair weather and close proximity to a good pub!

  • Wow

  • @lolaknows HEY BABY X

  • I know fartsy when I see it.

Theo Jansen is genius. I have seen many of his works. I can always be myself.

  • @MayfieldRandyj It was not a big as I thought it was going to be but it was impressive nevertheless- it made really cool noise when it moved, you could hear a million little plastic gears moving at once. I edited it out because there were also stupid boat horns blasting and ruined the effect! i should have use my megaphone "QUIET ON THE SET"

  • Wow - so impressive! It was beautiful and wonderful. Thank you.

  • @thizizliz thanks Liz - we had a nice day out that day taking the 50 minute train ride along the coast to go see the Beest - Jansen was having technical difficulties that day but I edited out that bit! cheers X

  • Fartsy? It's like the wind is calling my name! ;-)

    That was beautiful Les!

  • @hallbe well baked beans are a staple here in Jolly Olde....thanks for blowing in Ben! :)

  • I was left wanting more =) Nice work!

Hi Leslie, nice to feel your presence here. Hope all is good and well. Loved those boats @2:08 ~ Pip

  • @Pippilly- Michelle -ha! I was worried it was too long! Yes, those boats are so pretty - filmed at Brixham, a neat little harbour town here in Devon. (we stumbled upon it a couple of weeks ago) Nice to see you too - I am working on a *gulp* vlog! Where's yours missy? xx

  • Well, Fartsy came up smelling like roses. This is wonderful.

  • @ebiannah haha thanks for putting in your two scents ;)

  • Oh Lesley i love this.... you are so talented, love the footage and the tune and the vocal recording, it all comes together wonderfully!

    :-)

  • @twish1999 First! haha just had to.

Thanks Trish - ccmixter has been a favourite source for music for a long time- and now they make it easier than before as they have a whole 'dig' section where they have CC 3.0 licenses that can be used for yt videos - the artists there are really good!.
