These are wonderful! Any chance you could share the process with a tutorial? Are these covered with paper? Clay? ( Something else?) How is it adhered? I'm a musician and find your work fascinating and inspirational on many levels!
...also, i was wondering if you could tell me what kind of glue you use to put the textured paper on... do you use a hot glue gun? i ask because your art is so inspirational but i can't afford to buy your amazing art (the chakra bottle is my favorite). i'd love to try and recreate! can you give me some ideas on the practical 'putting together' of it all?
Oh hey, I was wondering... I wonder if a person used ceramic paints(?) or something like that, maybe the stuff with the glass powder in it.. would it be possible to low-temp kiln or bake (without melting the bottle itself), the paint to the bottle permanently.. so that, the bottles would be truly waterproof on the outside?
Jess- this depends upon the melting point of the glass.. it IS possible, but then you have to make certain that the enamels or glazes you use also are compatiable.. if not, and you still succeed with the glass not melting down (and then the anealing process is in there as well) but that when the medium you use is incompatable, it can also break the glass even after it seems to be "ok".. I've studied glass blowing and ceramics so I have witnessed if not done such experiements.
there are also low temp glazes which are metalics that are used.. if you want to avoid too much experimenting.. but those are especially designed for a certain type of glass/ceramic.. and you still have to test it out.
I will tell you, you are speaking with these.. you cover the shapes and enhance them so well.. but think about the matterial of the bottle itself as glass, transparent.. your matterials opaque, creating transformation--it is possible the bottle form as beautiful as it is is a crutch, not setting free your potential OR you wish to take the association away from the bottle and transform it to where only the shape remains. I can see this is very sensitive for you to share- thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much! It's fun to decorate everyday things like bottles :-) I'm sorry that ebay is not that great right now...I hope it picks up for you soon!
Every etsy account I have found on YouTube isn't on etsy!
