The "facts" about slavery:

1 - It existed long before the creation of the slave trade.

2 - It continues to exist long after the abolition of the slave trade.

Sadly, even after Lincoln "freed" the slaves, they were still left to the same labors and discrimination. The difference was that their employers (former owners) adopted a commodity purchasing system that kept them perpetually in debt, and thus wage slaves.
