  • I remember the radio station I was listening to playing this but Part II, I only heard it once. I did not know who did it and as I remember from now, I thought it may have been the Parliament. Typed "Strokin' 1976" and got all that I needed to know. Damn this is funky.

  • Outstanding!

  • How come so far from what i've been hearing, Leon Haywood has the longest intros before he finally starts singing ?

  • the guy below me just blew a horse

  • the guy below me is jerking the guy below him (with his mouth).

  • Call me Dirk.....Dirk Diggler.

  • Thumbs up if you're strokin it right now

  • on his stomach does it say FREAKY? lol

  • Makes me want to climb into a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado convertible and ease on down the road with my bitches.

  • @stationranger You still got your bitches?? I lost mine in a poker game...

  • @garethlott LOL, I'm down to just one these days.

  • Yeah! Mack Daddy Theme Music.

  • Hey man stuff we grew up to on westside of columbus ohio

  • Reached #101 in 1976.

  • OMG. This is one of those "Driving in my Cadillac" songs. You know, the songs that make you want to get in your car & drive even though you don't really have anywhere to go (except maybe the carwash). This a feel-good song.

  • holy sh...! i'm a new fan! i'm blown away! i gotta' run out and get all of this brother's music! thanks for posting!

  • Nopthing like a good ol' country pimp spittin' some classic shickt with a little Ohio Player-like backing vocals and bass riffs.

  • Sooo coool!! Takes me right back!!

  • Believe it or not, while home in Akron, Charles Heller tried to get me to go to L.A. in 76 to play with him in this band. That is why I think it is him.

  • Got this on single

    Great funky '70s record!

  • ...a long time ago, in a land FAR away...pure funky soul music, no ARTIFICIAL fillers or binders. LOL Glad I was there to see and hear it first hand.

  • @hunn89 far diff world than snoopdogs

  • @hunn89 props to that fam, I'm glad my parents were able to pass this appreciation on to me as a young young kid.

  • @hunn89 lucky you, I love this stuff. wish it was still around.

  • @hunn89 lol!!! Outstanding comment! I was there...I remember...Those days are gone...

  • @engelundgeister -yea mon...dont get me started...Total Experience, Speakeasy, Roxy

  • Saw Leon and his boys bust this out.. at about twice the tempo at the infamous and long gone Starwood club in Hollywood. They rolled it, lit it, and totally SMOKED it!

  • Lawd! Someone else remembers the Starwood, I was there too. Wasn't that just the best times in L.A. Peace to you fellow Angeleno!

  • @jonsilence ...Damn i would like 2 know if i could borrow that...Concept from you i like that one...They roll it.lit it and totally smoked it...Damn

  • @OnlySoulMusicHere: He bro, you wanna use my "roll it, lit, and totally smoked it" comment? Right on, be my guest. The highest compliment is when someone cops your shit!

  • @jonsilence Your soooo lucky. Smh....im envious. lol.

  • @YUNGSIRR1: I went to the Starwood frequently, mainly to see bands like Van Halen long before they released any records, but I was also into all the latest funk. When I heard that Leon was doing a gig there I just HAD to check him out. I had the Strokin' 45 rpm and was jonesing to hear it live. Leon's band was tight and baddass, and a big change from all the rock stuff that Starwood usually had. But it was still some wild shit...they started the show with a siren blasting !

  • @jonsilence omg i dream of seeing shit like that.......im only 22.....so its safe to say ive missed my chance lol.

  • @YUNGSIRR1: The mid 70s was a great period to live through; a collision of styles, but it all worked. And lots of fun!

  • @YUNGSIRR1 man i alllllready kno lol. thats whats up tho my brotha.

  • Great track!

  • this guy is baaaaaaaaaadddddddddd as in goooooooood

  • Was there another mildhit for Leon, before keep it in the family?

  • I think that is Charles Heller on drums from Akron,Ohio. Tight drums and bass.

  • It might also be Ed Greene, the guy who drummed in LA sessions for artists like Love Unlimited Orchestra. Gene Page, the producer for this cut, used Ed Greene on all of this productions.

  • Funky bassline. Awesome
