I just wonder how much true effort is put into succeeding in the climb knowing they have a safety? I mean if they didn't have a safety- would they more intent and actually succeed knowing the outcome would be much worse? They have more guts than I do even with the safeties. LOL.
@newstart49 There's no guarantee when you attempt a route that you will be able to climb it. Even with a safety system things can go wrong. It's not like riding a bike with training wheels- you have to put your body in weird positions and trust your strength and balance will carry you through the crux. Sometimes when I attempt a route I have to bail because I used all my strength up- it's not a question of comfort. Mentally you always climb like you don't have a rope.
@plasticmanandy It all boils down to if you have a passion for something- your doing the right thing. In this case, I feel better sitting here watching it than doing it. LOL.
i remember these faggy assed dudes falling everywhere! I turned up for this event, but forgot my kit, but the head mountain leader chief referee bloke made me do it in my plimpsols, knickers and vest. Still won too.
@cumguzzlar According to my fat spazzy brother he reckons that his mate at work knows someone at the pub yeah. Who's uncles workmates wife, works with the black boyfriend of the bloke who broke into Carol Deckers dressing room and wanked all over her knickers and shoes.
@spackwit Well my mum's sister, is Carol Decker's cousin's personal shopper and life coach. He reckonz when she was off her head on the Guiness, she asked him to perfom anny on her without a dental dam! Hadn't washed her shoes either. Is there any limit to the depths that woman will sink to?
@don2x8 One of them is belaying (look it up) and I'm a rock climber so not 100% sure, but I think the other dude is spotting or just a friend who is onlooking.
btw all MAMMUT™ ropes...best you can get....and - as usual - SWISS QUALITY
From little SWITZERLAND - where all the guys wear their big ruggedised steelballs in a nice woolly haired nutsack...to impress the lady of choice's grandfather who's generally is the keykeeper of the BIG FAT bank accounts EVERYONE owns here...
Maybe you think this a strange ritual, but - honestly - compared to ice climbing...?? and to old pal Chuck...???
@stevensonchase actually mixed ice is an up and coming sport. it is no where as popular as say sport climbing but its growing to be a quite large sport.
This climber fell coz he broke the golden rule: always have THREE points of contact on the surface. You can see he slipped once he tried to move two (a foot and hand) parts of his body.
So what if, an axe got caught in the rock momenteraly.. and just after you fell it droped. You look up to catch it and BANG!!! HOWS THAT!, only.. eyes cant catch.. well, not in an ideal fashion.
@talensledge. You don't know anything about climbing to you? Watch the video again. It is a waist harness. You are a dumb butt are you. Get your fact right.
@asusmobo123 have you ever climbed ice? well i have and i know that while leashes add a certain level of security to a climb they also very much limit what you can do, for example what if you want to match on a tool without your other getting in the way you clip one on to your harness and problem solved.
So what? why is this even considered impressive? it really is not a big deal falling when you're climbing. Only if you're going first, but having the rope from above it really isn't a big deal.
@redtail5 dry tooling for mixed climbing where you encounter ice, snow, rock is becoming very popular here and is necessary on lots of climbs. Ice Factory in Scotland has lots of vids you can check out about use of crampons and tools on rock.
I noticed the climbers are numbered - is this footage from a competition? Did anyone finish the route w/o falling? If so, it would be great to see that in here also.
@HeadNtheClouds It's called Dry Tooling. When you come out of the ice and into the rock, there is no place or time to change boots and put away ice axes....
always thought if u took a big fall on an ice route on like a second or third pitch n the fall was big enough to lift the belay then surely the ropes stretched so tight the axes could easily cut it if they touched the rope cos u literally need to push a sharp knife against a propr tight single rope to cut thru it wen its holdin weight???
Never done ice climbing/ climbing/ dry tooling but it looks bloody hard! Full respect, its looks bloody fun though although unassisted....fuck that! lol
