  • anyone knows whats the name of the traditional tune at 1:46 ?

  • @scullshot

It sounds a lot like the British Grenadiers' March to me.

A brilliant album, right up there

  • I bought this album when I was 18 cause I heard "open invitation" on a guitarist magazine. Having become totally obsessed with Joe Satriani and the haydays of Rush and Mettalica I was very used to hearing amazing guitar playings but when I got this album I felt totally shell-shocked. No mistake this guy ought to be massively famous there is no element of his playing that isn't utterly stunning, his legato's like Holdsworth, his harmonics like IA Eklundh etc - wish there was more of his playing.

  • lmao, nobody knows this guy...

  • @EraserMonster I do! hes english and has written a music course, I have had a master class and played infront of this guy... he has a massive chin as well its funny... hes much better live and imrovising its crazy

  • @hixxyspliff I'm sure he's great to have as an instructor. I was commenting on the beginning segment where that box came up.

  • @EraserMonster

hes a published guitarist you can even find his teachings in guitar weekly mags !

  • ROB CHAPPERS -THE MONKEY LORD'S TEACHER!

  • @rockingrugger Hahaha, Rob Chappers ain't 1/8th of the player Shaun is

  • @ComfortablyNumbed what makes you think that? haha.

this guy is bloody good though.

  • Beautiful!!!! Lovin it!

  • acabo de descubrir esto, se me cae la puta baba y no se como cojones tiene tan pocas visitas.

  • amazing guitarist how come we dont see him doing videos etc?he's my fav guitarist love his style next to guthrie govan etc from guitar techniques

  • please post more

  • duuuuh progresivo

  • The BEST!!! EVER!! And yes i had lessons from him too!! Better than Satriani and Vai!!! With out a shadow!!!! I and the world needs more from him!!!!

  • He's just an amazing guitarist. One of the best in the world really. I had lessons off him for a while up in Bounds Green. Slightly edgy Welsh lad. Get the exposure you deserve Shaun.

  • Amazing player, I'm not feeling his tone though. Sounds horrendeous to my ears.

  • @ComfortablyNumbed agreed

  • this guy teaches at the guitar institue in london....he soo bloody good!

  • I saw this guy at the guitar show in the NEC in Birmingham like 12 - 15 years ago, I got a copy of this album signed off him, if someone has this album please put it up on 4shared or somthing!

  • I like his style of playing.

  • i got master class from him at my college hes insane but im not a fan off this music =/

  • I've ever learned guitar from Shaun at GUITAR INSTITUTE in LONDON !

  • @wroot1 Lol. It's pretty cool.

  • Shaun Baxter is just so awesome. His lessons in GT magazine always have my fingers in knots.

  • This is untained.

    That'sa good thing.

    Different level of skill altogether

  • artist: Shaun Baxter

    Song: strike up the band

    album: jazz metal

a great song from one of my favorite guitarist. also this is my first post so sorry for the shoddy setup

  • amazing there are no videos of him playing.. reminds me of jazzed up Yngwie.. and awesome combination

  • I have this CD ~ got it about 8 years ago. Shaun sent it to me.

  • i love his playing style esp from guitar techniques-do u hv any videos of him?

  • very hard music to get into.

  • Nice to see fellow Shaun Baxter fans. I only know of him through his articles in Guitar Techniques but that has been for almost 10 years now. He has taught me a LOT and even more that went over my head. The guy is amazing. :) Cheers from the Yukon

  • i have a master class from this dude on thursday at my college =]

He also write my whole guitar course lol

  • Jazz METAL? This is NOT metal at all. But not bad playing, just not diatonic enough for my taste.

  • This material is pretty underground...I had the tape but lose it. A rare diamond this guitar player !!!!

  • had a few lessons with this guy back in 1995 when he was teaching at the guitar institute in Acton...he is incredible and has got possibly the best vibrato i've ever seen or heard...

  • He's definitely a brilliant player. I always follow through his playing in the Guitar Techniques. I just think that his music genre isn't that much demand on the market. But hey, just a thought of mine.

    Peace.

  • Shaun remains one of the most underrated guitarists out there. He has all the components of a great musician but sadly he seems very elusive. Jazz Metal is a fusion classic, just wish we heard more from him.

  • it's more fusion/rock than jazz elements...still good though

  • this sucks dude...this guy should be up there with fucking Vai, Satch and the rest of em...Amazing amazing guitarist, brilliant..

  • i always follow his creative rock column in guitar techniqes magazine...he is awesome.thanks for uploading this...this man is awesome..

  • Shaun displays true talent rarely seen in today's music industry.

  • i once had a GT magazine, i think that was around 1994 or 1995, shaun had some killer tap legato's in that issue of guitar techniques. too bad i lost that magazine. i would love to see those tap legato lines again.

  • are most of his classes at colleges?

  • yeah pretty much he teaches at the ICMP in london and holds masterclasses and writes for music courses in certain colleges as far as i know. You have to see him play for real to appreciate how awesome of a guitarist he is.

  • yeh i really want to see him live, especially improvising i bet hes got some crazy ideas

  • yeah he comes into my collage sometimes

  • Been to some of his masterclasses...he makes you feel depressed trying to teach stuff that is way way way beyond your capability

  • Yeah i know what you mean, I went to a few a couple of years ago. I think some of the stuff I witnessed him play was some of the most impressive stuff I've ever seen was liturally jaw dropping! just wish someone had recorded the masterclass and put it up :-(

  • did he do that whole "im welsh" thing?
