I bought this album when I was 18 cause I heard "open invitation" on a guitarist magazine. Having become totally obsessed with Joe Satriani and the haydays of Rush and Mettalica I was very used to hearing amazing guitar playings but when I got this album I felt totally shell-shocked. No mistake this guy ought to be massively famous there is no element of his playing that isn't utterly stunning, his legato's like Holdsworth, his harmonics like IA Eklundh etc - wish there was more of his playing.
@EraserMonster I do! hes english and has written a music course, I have had a master class and played infront of this guy... he has a massive chin as well its funny... hes much better live and imrovising its crazy
The BEST!!! EVER!! And yes i had lessons from him too!! Better than Satriani and Vai!!! With out a shadow!!!! I and the world needs more from him!!!!
He's just an amazing guitarist. One of the best in the world really. I had lessons off him for a while up in Bounds Green. Slightly edgy Welsh lad. Get the exposure you deserve Shaun.
I saw this guy at the guitar show in the NEC in Birmingham like 12 - 15 years ago, I got a copy of this album signed off him, if someone has this album please put it up on 4shared or somthing!
Nice to see fellow Shaun Baxter fans. I only know of him through his articles in Guitar Techniques but that has been for almost 10 years now. He has taught me a LOT and even more that went over my head. The guy is amazing. :) Cheers from the Yukon
had a few lessons with this guy back in 1995 when he was teaching at the guitar institute in Acton...he is incredible and has got possibly the best vibrato i've ever seen or heard...
He's definitely a brilliant player. I always follow through his playing in the Guitar Techniques. I just think that his music genre isn't that much demand on the market. But hey, just a thought of mine.
Shaun remains one of the most underrated guitarists out there. He has all the components of a great musician but sadly he seems very elusive. Jazz Metal is a fusion classic, just wish we heard more from him.
i once had a GT magazine, i think that was around 1994 or 1995, shaun had some killer tap legato's in that issue of guitar techniques. too bad i lost that magazine. i would love to see those tap legato lines again.
yeah pretty much he teaches at the ICMP in london and holds masterclasses and writes for music courses in certain colleges as far as i know. You have to see him play for real to appreciate how awesome of a guitarist he is.
Yeah i know what you mean, I went to a few a couple of years ago. I think some of the stuff I witnessed him play was some of the most impressive stuff I've ever seen was liturally jaw dropping! just wish someone had recorded the masterclass and put it up :-(
why is the album called jazz metal when its practically fusion? awesome song though

Jazz METAL? This is NOT metal at all. But not bad playing, just not diatonic enough for my taste.
