man old school raptors were the best vc alvin and tracy and oakley man why did t mac decide to leave we almost beat the 2001 phillies i bet tmac regrets his decision man wasted talent
Thank you for this excellent video and the great display of some of the many, many talents Alvin possessed during his basketball career. Hats off to A-Dub, the most selfless raptor ever...
The Raptors were so good then because of Defense. Alvin was basically their perimeter defence, and then they had Davis and Oakley inside.
Why did Grunwald fire Lenny Wilkins and replace him with Kevin O'Niell?! that was the beginning of the end. Then again, Grunwald had done a great job of making a tough raptors team. In 2000-2001 they were among the better rebounding teams and had the fewest turnovers per game of any team.
If he wasn't stopped by his injuries, I could see him improving to a Chauncey Billups type of player. He could use that height to post smaller point guards and play tough defense.
Gives it to Vince, Vince loses it, picks it up again, doubleteamed, 4 on the shot clock, bounces it to Alvin, Alvin puts it up, got it!!! Oh my goodness!!! With 38 seconds to go, 4th quarter Alvin gives the Raps a 6 point lead at game 5 at the Mecca. History is about to be made ladies and gentlemen
This guy was my favourite player way back when. It's a shame because once the league started to notice his game..his knees gave on him.
One more thing, does anyone else see a great similarity between williams' game and Rodney Stuckey's of Detroit? They're both tall and both play the same type of game
My favourite Raptor ever. Favourite player period. The guy was tough as nails, always played hard and he was a class act. Just wish some other teammates could of done the same... ahem Vince Carter.
alvin williams had that philly swagger to his game that made the raptors so much tougher. add in an aggressive vc, a hard nosed antonio davis and charles oakley... the old school raptors weren't a team you'd want to fuck with. as much as i dont mind bosh/jose/andrea-- these guys seem soft as hell in comparison.
One of the best Raps of all time. And hit the biggest shot in Raptors history, the clutch jumper to clinch game 5 and the series for us at the Garden. That shot with the pump fist should have been in this mix!!! We have no shot in that series with New York without 4th quarter Alvin. An underrated, excellent point guard whose career was unfortunately derailed by injuries far too soon.

Man, he was a tall point guard at 6'5 and plays good defense. He's one of the reasons why the Raptors were so good during the VC era.

Best Raps PG yet... Jose don't even come close... never see Jose dive for balls like that or challenge shots like that.
