UR right to be leery. Marriage has zero guarantee of happiness. You can love one person forever without the contract. It wont make you happy, or guarantee faithfullness. Many people live together and choose to not have kids. Its not wierd. The planet is overpopulated, and doubling now. Find a person who feels like you, fearless and loving. Plus, lots of kids needmentors/BigBrothers /teachers. Lots of orphans and lost kids now. Keep yourself safe, be well.
It was originally just an economic partnership between two people and in the case of royalty, a political partnership. These ideas are so outdated. Nowadays, it`s all about love, but getting married is just like letting the State recognize your relationship. How silly.
I agree that marriage has become a bit of a money racket. In fact, marriage probably originated for the sole purpose of gaining wealth (parents pimping their daughters to the highest bidder/best provider).
I don't know why you fear paying child support. Married, divorced or not, people should do their best to provide for their children.
