it's great to see the oldies still getting t.v work like the chuckle brothers and brucie coz they know how it works...the new talent today are not a patch on these guys...still making us laugh and still earning and not on the has been heap like many i could mention.....this post was brilliant....better than the foul mouthed tat we usually see.

Can anyone confirm the stage name used by the boys when they won New Faces? I grew up in West Yorkshire and one of the local double acts during the early 70's was a pair known as Huff n Puff.

I'm pretty sure this was Barry and Paul.

Their routines where always near the knuckle but very entertaining. But all references to their New Faces win is as The Chuckle Bros, Am I right or am I wrong?

i think they're actually called the elliot brothers in real life and there's 5 of them but 1 isnt in the show.

No, people didn' dress like that in the 70's. The programme was made in the 70's, called 'The Good Old Days'. It used modern acts (of the 70's) to perform in an old Victorian/edwardian music hall setting.

The programme used to be very popular, particularly among older people, but, as is typical among broadcasting managers, all they think about is the under 40's, so it was scrapped. At least it was variety (with no swearing), which is what we don;t get now.

i got both their dvds! i dnt want to boast but i am a reason why the chuckle bros made a dvd. i asked if they would release one of their tour and they said they will possibly consider taking that idea into account. (i got that reply off mark robson - site manager off their website) and 3 years on they decided to release them!!
