Also going on the female in "male" roles thing (because i'm female, I was a firefighter and was looked down upon a lot, as well as looked up to yes, but people assumed a female firefighter had to be masculine and couldn't be feminine or that a feminine guy couldn't do a masculine job. I find that society wants you to choose. They have to put you in a neat little box with a tidy label. well, as far as the hate women get for being masculine - granted they are far more likely to be less frowned upon for being more androgynous. However, it depends - for example i am female but i do go out in drag and i get more than my fair share of odd looks and obnoxious comments. i tend to ignore them as best i can but it's true that androgyny as a whole isn't reflected in the most positive light in this day and age.

Why are leadership and career prowess masculine traits?
